Kropswolde

Kropswolde (Dutch pronunciation: [krɔpsˈʋɔldə]; abbreviation: Kw) is an unstaffed railway station in Foxhol near Kropswolde in the Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 May 1868 and is located on the Harlingen–Nieuweschans railway between Groningen Europapark and Martenshoek in the province of Groningen. Train services are operated by Arriva.

Foxhol is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is part of the municipality of Midden-Groningen. In 1842, the potato starch factory Eureka was founded in Foxhol by Willem Albert Scholten. Foxhol became an industrial area with factories and shipyards. The village is nowadays part of the urban area of Hoogezand.

Martenshoek (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌmɑrtənsˈɦuk]; abbreviation: Mth) is an unstaffed railway station in Martenshoek in the Netherlands. The station opened on 1 Jan 1905 and is located on the Harlingen–Nieuweschans railway between Groningen and Nieuweschans. The services are operated by Arriva.

Martenshoek is a neighbourhood of Hoogezand and former village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Midden-Groningen, about 2 km west of the town of Hoogezand.

Zuidlaardermeer is a lake in the northern part of the Netherlands. The lake runs Northwest of the village of Zuidlaren and southwards of the former municipality of Hoogezand-Sappemeer and is called Zuidlaardermeer (Dutch for: Lake of Zuidlaren). The lake is largely situated in the provinces of Groningen and Drenthe. It was formed 5,000-8,000 years ago. The lake is fed by the river Hunze. This river enters the lake in the south-east and exits the lake in the north as Drentsche Diep. The lake is shallow (about 3 ft deep), but some parts are deeper, like the fairway. The lake is popular with tourists, but in particular with yachtsmen. Many sailboats are moored in the lake, because the Zuidlaardermeer is one of the few suitable lakes for sailing in the region. Large parts of the lake and nearby polders are conducted by the Groninger Zeeschap foundation.

Hoogezand-Sappemeer (Dutch pronunciation: [ɦoːɣəˌzɑnt sɑpəˈmeːr] ) is a former municipality in the Northeastern Netherlands. It was the third most-populous municipality in the province of Groningen, after Groningen and Oldambt. It was formed in 1949 by the merger of the former municipalities of Hoogezand (well-known for its ship building industry) and Sappemeer. On 1 January 2018, Hoogezand-Sappemeer merged with Slochteren and Menterwolde, forming the new municipality Midden-Groningen.

Hoogezand-Sappemeer (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦoːɣəˌzɑnt ˈsɑpəˌmeːr] ; abbreviation: Hgz) is an unstaffed railway station in Hoogezand in the Netherlands. It is located on the Harlingen–Nieuweschans railway between Martenshoek and Sappemeer Oost in the province of Groningen. Train services started in 1868 and the current station building was completed in 1989. There are currently three train services, all operated by Arriva. Among the direct destinations are Groningen to the west, Veendam to the southeast, and Winschoten, Bad Nieuweschans, and Leer (Germany) to the east.

Zuidlaarderveen is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Tynaarlo, and lies about 17 km northeast of Assen. The village was first mentioned around 1642 as "op Suitlarerveen", and means "peat excavation settlement of Zuidlaren". In 1262, the land was sold to the Aduard Abbey to excavate the peat and cultivate the land. In 1680, there was a dispute between the province of Groningen and Drenthe about the ownership of the area around Zuidlaarderveen. In 1713, a deal was reached about the border, and the village became part of Drenthe. The village started to develop in the 19th century. Zuidlaarderveen was home to 231 people 1840.

De Wachter (English: The Watchman) is a smock mill in Zuidlaren, Drenthe, which has been restored to working order. The mill was built in 1851 and is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 41064.
