WRTR (105.9 FM, "Talk Radio 105.9") is a radio station broadcasting a news/talk radio format. Licensed to Brookwood, Alabama, United States, the station serves the Tuscaloosa area. The station is currently owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. and the broadcast license is held by iHM Licenses, LLC. The station has studios located on 11th Street in Downtown Tuscaloosa, while it's transmitter is located on 40th Avenue. The station started life as WACT-FM, and changed its call letters to the current WRTR-FM on March 31, 1997. WRTR was known as "Tuscaloosa's Rock Station" and is the home of The Bob and Tom Show in West Alabama. Popular radio host Joe Elvis has hosted Afternoon Drive since 2002 and The Wild Bill Show airs every weeknight. On May 4, 2009, WRTR changed their format to news/talk, simulcasting WACT (1420 AM), branded as "Talk Radio 105.9". Overnight, the station broadcasts the syndicated Coast to Coast AM hosted by George Noory.

The Paul Bryant Bridge is a four-lane, 150-foot-tall (46 m), $28 million bridge spanning the Black Warrior River along Alabama State Route 297 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Construction of the 3,785-foot-long (1,154 m), twin-span bridge commenced in March 2000. Originally slated to open in December 2003, construction delays resulted in its opening on April 23, 2004.Serving as the fourth crossing of the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa County, this was the first phase of the larger Warrior Loop project slated for completion by 2012. Constructed by the R.R. Dawson Bridge Company, during the course of its construction, two workers died while on the job in October 2001 and again in April 2003. In January 2003, then Governor Don Siegleman ordered state transportation director Paul Bowlin to name the bridge in honor of long-time University of Alabama head football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant.

The North River is a 77-mile-long (124 km) river in the western portion of the state of Alabama, United States. It is a tributary of the Black Warrior River, joining it just north of Tuscaloosa.

WTBC (1230 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a sports radio format. Licensed to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States, the station serves the greater Tuscaloosa area. The station is owned by Townsquare Media. It was also the first media position that James Spann ever had in the media. In May 2016, it was announced that Townsquare Media would be buying WTBC and sister station WNPT-FM (now WFMA) for $550,000. (Alabama Broadcast Media Page) According to published reports, WNPT-FM would go sports and WTBC would retain the Catfish Country format, once the new owners take over. Townsquare Media's purchase of the stations was consummated on July 15, 2016. As of this update, Catfish Country is now being heard exclusively on WTBC and translator W261BT, branded as Catfish 100.1. Under the ownership of Townsquare Media, WTBC provides regular weather coverage from WVUA in Tuscaloosa, under the direction of their Chief Meteorologist Richard Scott. During times of active severe, tropical, and Winter weather events, WTBC provides West Alabama's only live and local weather coverage on the radio, with local, in house, Staff Meteorologist Bobby Best. Additionally, under the ownership of Townsquare Media and the direction of Market President/Chief Revenue Officer David R. Dubose, WTBC also provides West Alabama radio's only live and local news coverage with News Director Don Hartley and West, Alabama's only live and local traffic coverage with Traffic Reporter Capt'n Ray. On October 12, 2023, WTBC changed its format from classic country (which moved to WTUG-HD2) to sports, branded as "Tide 100.9" and switched translators to W265CG 100.9 FM Tuscaloosa.

Alberta City, sometimes shortened as "the ABC" by locals, is the name of a suburban area of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States. Alberta City is located in the northeastern portion of Tuscaloosa and is generally defined as encompassing the portions of the city east of U.S. Route 82 (McFarland Boulevard), west of Holt, south of the Black Warrior River and north of Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Hurricane Creek is a tributary of the Black Warrior River located in Southwestern Tuscaloosa County in western Alabama. It is over 30 miles long and its watershed covers approximately 120 square miles. It is used by communities around it, including the city of Tuscaloosa, for recreation and offers a wide variety of aquatic life and quality aesthetics. Three areas of this stream are on the federal 303(d) list of impaired streams, meaning they are protected by the Clean Water Act from further degradation. Current threats to water quality include active coal mining, abandoned mine lands, siltation, and some areas with high fecal coliform bacteria levels. The origin of the name is obscure; it may recall a hurricane event, or be named after a settler called Harricane or Harrigan.

American Christian Academy is a private Christian school located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States, with students in grades PK-12. It operates in the former Eastwood Middle School on Veterans Memorial Parkway, which it purchased from the Tuscaloosa City School Board. ACA is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). ACA has been a fully accredited school since 1990.

The University of Alabama Arboretum is a 60-acre (243,000 m2) arboretum located near the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Pelham Loop Road in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Arboretum's primary emphasis is on Alabama's native flora and fauna. It includes 2.5 miles (4.0 km) of walking trails through native piney woods and oak-hickory climax forest, a wildflower garden containing more than 250 species, ornamental plants, an experimental garden, a bog garden, an open-air pavilion, and a children's garden. Two greenhouses contain collections of orchids, cacti, and tropical plants. The Arboretum is open daily without charge from sunrise to sunset, except for a few major holidays. It is part of the University of Alabama Museums, which also include the Alabama Museum of Natural History, Gorgas House, Moundville Archaeological Museum, the Office of Archaeological Research, and Paul W. Bryant Museum.

The Holt Lock and Dam is a lock built on the Black Warrior River near Holt, Alabama in Tuscaloosa County. Opening for navigation in 1966, it served as a replacement for a series locks and dams built in the early 20th century. The lock and dam impounds Holt Lake 19 miles (31 km) upstream to the John Hollis Bankhead Lock and Dam. The lock is located in the southern bank and has an inside chamber with dimensions of 110 feet (34 m) by 600 feet (180 m), and having a maximum lift of 64 feet (20 m). The spillway is controlled by 14 individually operated tainter gates used to control the overall lake level. Located on the northern bank are hydroelectric turbines operated by the Alabama Power Company. The United States Army Corps of Engineers owns the dam facility; Alabama Power owns and operates the generating plant.

Northridge High School is a public high school in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States, enrolling just over 1000 students in grades 9–12 as of spring 2021. It is one of three high schools in the Tuscaloosa City School District. It offers technical and academic programs, as well as joint enrollment with Shelton State Community College and the University of Alabama. Northridge High School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Founded in 2003, Northridge is one of the two youngest public high schools in Tuscaloosa. After the retirement of Central High School East, the Tuscaloosa City School system divided the city into three schools: Northridge High School, Paul W. Bryant High School (both of which were opened in 2003), and Central High School. Northridge High School is located on the north side of the Black Warrior River on Northridge Road.

The Strode Mansion is the former residence of Hudson Strode. The residence includes the main house, a small caretaker's cabin, and a separate writing studio, as well as 27 acres (110,000 m2) of woodland. The Strodes bequeathed their residence to the University of Alabama's Department of English. The property is located at 49 Cherokee Road, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The home was designated a historic landmark by the Alabama Historical Association in 1987. These days, it is usually occupied by the director of the Hudson Strode Program in Renaissance Studies. In the past, it was assigned to notable visiting faculty. The caretaker's cabin ("Strode's Cabin") is occupied by a student from the University's Master of Fine Arts program.
