SOS Hermann Gmeiner College located in Mirpur-13 of the capital Dhaka city of Bangladesh is nation's one of the best institutions for primary and secondary education. It was established in 1986 by the SOS-Kinderdorf International, headquartered in Innsbruck, Austria, a non-government organization. The foundation stone was laid by former President of Bangladesh, Hussain Muhammad Ershad. In 2010, the college was ranked among the top ten best institutions of the country for its academic performance in Secondary School Certificate examination.Primarily established to educate the children who reside in the SOS Children Village of Dhaka, the school now takes students from all social backgrounds in grades from preparatory to twelfth grade aged from 4 to 18. The Bangladesh chapter of SOS-Kinderdorf International SOS Children's Village International in Bangladesh headed by a National Director is the administrative body of the institution with the Principal serving as the head of the institution. The school has approximately 1200 students on role.

The 2013 Bangladesh Premier League Final was a day/night Twenty20 cricket match played between the Dhaka Gladiators and the Chittagong on 19 February 2013 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka to determine the winner of the 2013 Bangladesh Premier League, second season of a professional Twenty20 cricket league in Bangladesh. It ended as the Gladiators defeated the Kings by 43 runs. It was the second consecutive final and title for the Gladiators. The Gladiators, captained by Mashrafe Mortaza, topped the group stage table, whereas the Kings, led by Mahmudullah, stood at the third position. The total attendance of the match was 25350 (Reference from BCB).Winning the toss, Kings' captain Mahmudullah opted to field first. The Gladiators scored 172 runs in 20 overs with a loss of 9 wickets. Batting at number 3, Wicket-keeper Anamul Haque top scored for the Gladiators with 58 runs. Shakib Al Hasan scored 41 for Gladiators. Kings' bowler Rubel Hossain took four wickets for 44 runs. The Kings failed to build a good opening partnership when their opener Shehan Jayasuriya got out at 26. After this there was no big partnerships expect the 37 runs partnership at 6th wicket which was their highest. However, the other opener Jason Roy and skipper Mahmudullah scored 40 and 44 respectively to get to the target. The 2012 Bangladesh Premier League Final was a day/night Twenty20 cricket match played between the Dhaka Gladiators and the Barisal Burners on 29 February 2012 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka to determine the winner of the 2012 Bangladesh Premier League, a professional Twenty20 cricket league in Bangladesh. It ended as the Gladiators defeated the Burners by eight wickets to bag the title of the inaugural season. The Gladiators, captained by Mashrafe Mortaza, stood at the third position, whereas the Burners, led by Brad Hodge, stood at the fourth position after a controversial decision by the authority. They had defeated the Khulna Royal Bengals and the Duronto Rajshahi respectively in the semi-finals. The total attendance of the match was 25800 (Reference from BCB).Winning the toss, Gladiators' captain Mashrafee Mortaza opted to field first. The Burners scored 140 runs in 20 overs with a loss of 7 wickets. Batting at opening, the captain Brad Hodge top scored for the Burners with a not out 70 runs . Gladiators' bowler Shahid Afridi took three wickets for 23 runs. The Gladiators failed to build a good opening partnership when their opener Nazimuddin got out at 26.
