Château de Bayeux was a castle in Bayeux, Normandy, France.

Bayeux (French pronunciation: [bajø]) is a commune in the Calvados department in Normandy in northwestern France. Bayeux is the home of the Bayeux Tapestry, which depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England. It is also known as the first major town secured by the Allies during Operation Overlord. Charles de Gaulle made two famous speeches in this town.

The Jardin botanique de Bayeux (2.6 hectares), also called the Jardin public de Bayeux, is a botanical garden and municipal park located at 53, route de Port-en-Bessin, Bayeux, Calvados, Normandy, France. It is open daily without charge. The garden site was formerly a meadow, bequeathed in 1851 by Charlemagne Jean-Delamare (1772–1858) as a garden for teaching horticulture, landscaped by Eugène Bühler (1822–1907), and in 1864 opened to the public. Many specimens planted from 1859 to 1864 remain. The most notable among its roughly 400 mature trees is a weeping European Beech that in 1932 was named a natural monument and in 2000 a remarkable tree of France.

The Diocese of Bayeux and Lisieux (Latin: Dioecesis Baiocensis et Lexoviensis; French: Diocèse de Bayeux et Lisieux) is a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church in France. It is coextensive with the Department of Calvados and is a suffragan to the Archdiocese of Rouen, which is also in Normandy. At the time of the Concordat of 1802, the ancient Diocese of Lisieux was united to that of Bayeux. A pontifical brief in 1854 authorized the Bishop of Bayeux to call himself Bishop of Bayeux and Lisieux.

Saint-Vigor Priory, formerly Saint-Vigor Abbey (French: Prieuré Saint-Vigor; Abbaye Saint-Vigor-le-Grand), was a Benedictine monastery in the town of Saint-Vigor-le-Grand in Calvados, Normandy, France. Its foundation is attributed to Saint Vigor, bishop of Bayeux in the first third of the 6th century. It was destroyed in the late 10th century by the invading Normans. In the late 11th century Odo, bishop of Bayeux, attempted a revival of the monastery as an independent abbey but it was not successful, and in the 1090s the community was made a dependent priory of the Abbey of St. Benignus, Dijon. The abbey relinquished its rights over the priory in 1702. The reformist Congregation of St. Maur took it on in 1712. It was suppressed in 1790 in the French Revolution.It has been listed as a historical monument since 1908.

Bayeux Cathedral, also known as Cathedral of Our Lady of Bayeux (French: Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Bayeux), is a Roman Catholic church located in the town of Bayeux in Normandy, France. A national monument, it is the seat of the Bishop of Bayeux and Lisieux and was probably the original home of the Bayeux Tapestry, still preserved nearby. The cathedral is in the Norman-Romanesque architectural tradition. The site is an ancient one and was once occupied by Roman sanctuaries. The present cathedral was consecrated on 14 July 1077 in the presence of William, Duke of Normandy. It was on this site that William may have forced Harold Godwinson to take an oath of support to him, the breaking of which led to the Norman Conquest of England – meaning that the oath must have been made before 1066.

Longues Abbey (French: Abbaye de Longues, Abbaye Sainte-Marie de Longues) is a former Benedictine monastery in Longues-sur-Mer, Calvados, Normandy, France. It was founded in 1168 by Hugh Wac, of a family that owned Rubercy and other lands in the Cotentin, and was generously supported by gifts from the English and Norman nobility, and from King Henry II. The prominent families of Bacon of Molay and d'Argouges were particular benefactors of the abbey and several of them were buried there. From 1526 the abbey was in the hands of commendatory abbots. After a long period of decline, it was finally closed in 1781 under the last commendatory abbot, Emmanuel-Louis de Cugnac, bishop of Lectoure, when its revenues were given to the seminary at Bayeux.Numerous ruins and structures remain, which have been listed at various times as monuments historiques.

The Bayeux War Cemetery is the largest Second World War cemetery of Commonwealth soldiers in France, located in Bayeux, Normandy. The cemetery contains 4,648 burials, mostly of the Invasion of Normandy. Opposite this cemetery stands the Bayeux Memorial which commemorates more than 1,800 casualties of the Commonwealth forces who died in Normandy and have no known grave.The cemetery grounds were assigned to the United Kingdom in perpetuity by France in recognition of the sacrifices made by the British Empire in the defence and liberation of France during the war. In addition to the Commonwealth burials, there are 466 graves of German soldiers. The cemetery contains the Cross of Sacrifice or War Cross, designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC). Gare de Bayeux is the station for the town of Bayeux, Calvados, Normandy. It is situated on the Mantes-la-Jolie–Cherbourg railway. It is a small station with regional trains (TER) to Cherbourg, Caen, Paris and Granville.

Longues-sur-Mer (French pronunciation: [lɔ̃ɡ syʁ mɛʁ] ) is a commune in the Calvados department in Normandie region in northwestern France. The Longues-sur-Mer battery is nearby, part of the Atlantic Wall coastal fortifications.
