WYDS (93.1 FM) is a Top 40/CHR-formatted station licensed in Decatur, Illinois, and is currently known on-air as "93.1 The Party." The station can be heard into Springfield, Illinois. Its main competitor is WSOY-FM, which also has a Top 40/CHR format. Uniquely, the station has used all three available HD Radio subchannels to air different programming: HD2 as urban adult contemporary, HD3 as classic country, and HD4 as sports talk. The station owners apportioned translators to ensure that to the greatest extent possible, the population targeted and station coverage matched. HD radio supporters argue that this allows the owners to maximize revenue, by allowing all demographics to be targeted, not just those who would be listening to the original signal.

The Trobaugh-Good House is a historic house located at 1495 Brozio Lane in the Rock Springs Center for Environmental Discovery southwest of Decatur, Illinois. The house was built c. 1847–53 as part of the Ward Settlement, one of the first communities in the area which became Macon County; it is one of the few buildings from the settlement which still survives. The settlement was formed by migrants from the Upland South; Joseph M. Trobaugh, who first owned the house, was one of the later arrivals from the region. The house was originally a one-room log pen house, a typical construction style among the migrants. As larger houses became more popular in the area in the 1850s, the house gained two additions. The first addition added a lean-to kitchen in back of the house, while the second was a saddlebag extension, a common vernacular addition that gave the house a parlor.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 1, 1996.

WDZ (1050 AM) is a commercial radio station, licensed to Decatur, Illinois. It broadcasts a sports radio format and calls itself "Fox Sports 1050." It is owned by the Neuhoff Corporation, which also owns four other local radio stations, WCZQ, WDZQ, WSOY and WSOY-FM. Studios and offices are located on North Water Street. It is one of the oldest radio stations in Illinois, and one of the few that still carry a three-letter call sign along with WGN and WLS Chicago. WDZ operates on 1050 kHz, a clear channel frequency reserved for Mexico. By day, WDZ is powered at 1,000 watts non-directional. But it must reduce power to 250 watts at night so it doesn't interfere with other stations on the frequency. WDZ is diplexed (i.e., shares the vertical radiator) with co-owned 1340 WSOY. The transmitter site is on St. Louis Bridge Road at Wesley Road in Decatur.

The Sand Creek Conservation Area is a 755-acre (3 km2) natural area in the U.S. state of Illinois, located in South Wheatland Township south of Lake Decatur. The conservation area preserves tallgrass prairie and prairie-savanna acreage and serves the people of Macon County and the Decatur metropolitan area. The area is operated by the Macon County Conservation District.

Rock Springs Conservation Area is a 1,300 acre (5 km²) park located 4 miles (6.5 km) southwest of Decatur, Illinois. Centering on the Rock Spring Nature Center, a small environmental-education museum and community center, it is the largest parcel of parkland, in terms of surface area, in Macon County. The conservation area and nature center are operated by the Macon County Conservation District. Rock Spring is a natural outflow of water from the sandstone bluffs on the south bank of the Sangamon River. The spring was a meeting point for local Native Americans. Around 1915 and 1916 a bottling plant bottled spring water for sale to local merchants. Only ruins of the building remain today. Nearby is Miller's Mill, the site of a 19th-century gristmill that ground local maize into cornmeal. There is an informational kiosk on the trail overlooking the mill site which tells the history of the mill. The area surrounding the springs consists of Sangamon River wetlands and low bluffs of marginal agricultural productivity. As the population of Decatur grew sharply in the early 20th century, large parcels of land alongside the Sangamon were condemned so that the metropolis could build a modern sewage plant. More than two square miles of land around and downstream from the plant was redesignated as a nature center and buffer zone. Six miles (10 km) of nature trails provide access to the conservation area. Largely wooded, parts of the conservation area have been planted as restoration tallgrass prairie. The current Rock Springs Conservation Area and Nature Center are the products of this urban-planning initiative. The center is operated by the Macon County Conservation District.The nearest major highway is Illinois Route 48, southwest of Decatur.

The Macon County Conservation District (MCCD) is a public park authority, created in 1966, serving the metropolitan area of Decatur in the U.S. state of Illinois. The conservation district operates five conservation areas and six historic sites, as of 2022, throughout Macon County. Facilities include the park district's flagship open space, Rock Springs Conservation Area; a nature center within the Conservation Area, the Rock Springs Nature Center; and an Illinois State Natural Area, the Bois du Sangamon by Lake Decatur.

Stevens Creek is a stream in Macon County, Illinois, United States. A tributary of the Sangamon River, it originates in the northern part of the county, flowing southward through the village of Forsyth and city of Decatur before emptying into the Sangamon near the western boundaries of Decatur. For much of its path through the city, it is paralleled by a bike trail. Its principal tributary is Spring Creek, which joins it a few miles before Stevens joins the Sangamon. Its drainage area covers 87 square miles of Macon County.

The West End Historic District is a residential historic district located in western Decatur, Illinois. The district, which was primarily built in the first half of the 20th century, includes over 1,700 contributing buildings. The West End was a popular neighborhood for Decatur's business owners and managers at its large industries, and the majority of its residents came from upper-middle class occupations; however, the district also had many working-class residents. A diverse array of architecture is featured in the district; twenty-three different architectural styles and twelve vernacular types are represented in its homes. The Dutch Colonial Revival and American Craftsman styles are the most prevalent, along with the latter's related vernacular type, the bungalow; the English Revival, Colonial Revival, Prairie School, and Georgian Revival styles also had a significant influence on the district's character.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 27, 2002.
