Sankt Georgen (Freiburg)

Freiburger Verkehrs AG, also known as VAG Freiburg or just VAG, is the municipal transport company of the city of Freiburg im Breisgau in Germany and is responsible for operating the local tram network. It is a member of the Regio-Verkehrsverbund Freiburg (RVF), a transport association that co-ordinates public transport in the city of Freiburg and the neighboring districts of Emmendingen and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald.Furthermore VAG owns 50% of the shares in the Breisgau S-Bahn, the other 50% are with SWEG. The company operates a regional railway network on DB Netz AG and SWEG owned tracks. The services run on short sections of the Magistrale Upper Rhine Valley Railway, together with the Elztalbahn, Kaiserstuhlbahn and Breisachbahn branch lines.The VAG is a public limited company, whose shareholder is the city of Freiburg. In 2010 the overall loss was €7.545 million. This was accomplished by a cover ratio of 88%, which is impressively high by German public transport standards.

The Protestant University of Applied Sciences Freiburg (German name: Evangelische Hochschule Freiburg (EH)) is a university of social work, diakonia and religious education. It is a confessional, state-approved university located in Freiburg. The responsible body is the Protestant regional church of Baden (Evangelische Landeskirche in Baden). Baden is the name of the area in the South-West of Germany, belonging to the State of Baden-Württemberg. Note that in Germany the title protestant, although referring to the Protestant Churches sponsorship, does not influence the tuitional and scientific content taught in this institution. In this context, churchly managed universities do not differ from state-run universities. The students of social work and religious education obtain a bachelor's degree. It is called Bachelor of Arts, diploma supplement Soziale Arbeit (includes social work and social pedagogy) or religious education. An additional voluntary course of study leads to a special certificate in sport-related social work. In cooperation with the Südbadische Sportschule Steinbach the Hochschule offers training in sports-related youth and social work for disadvantaged children and adolescents.

Haslach, incorporated into the city on 1 January 1890, is one of the Western districts of Freiburg im Breisgau. After the demerging of Weingarten the district is made up out of the boroughs 611 Haslach-Egerten, 612 Haslach-Gartenstadt, 613 Haslach-Schildacker and 614 Haslach-Haid. Its population is 20,939 (2020).

Vauban (German pronunciation: [voˈbãː]) is a neighbourhood (Stadtteil) to the south of the town centre in Freiburg, Germany. It was built as "a sustainable model district" on the site of a former French military base named after Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban, the 17th century French Marshal who built fortifications in Freiburg while the region was under French rule. Construction began in 1998, and the first two residents arrived in 2001.

Schneeburg is a castle ruin between Ebringen and Freiburg, Germany. The ruins are at an altitude of 516 metres (1693 feet) on the western summit of Schönberg.

Rieselfeld is a city quarter (Stadtteil) in Freiburg im Breisgau. It is located in the western part of the city and borders the nature reserve Freiburger Rieselfeld in the west, right next to a little zoo called Tiergehege Mundenhof, Opfinger Straße in the south and Besançonallee in the east. The industrial area Haid is part of the Sankt Georgen district and is located to the south of Rieselfeld, while the district Weingarten is situated to the east of Rieselfeld.

The International Solar Energy Society (ISES) is a global organization for promoting the development and utilization of renewable energy. ISES is an UN-accredited NGO headquartered in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. Dr. David S. Renné is the current president. ISES was established in 1954 as a global non-profit organization committed to promoting the use of solar energy. Presently, ISES operates in over 110 countries worldwide and boasts a membership that includes scientists, researchers, and individuals from various industries, solar energy associations, as well as other public and private organizations. ISES also organizes Young ISES, a network of students and young professional ISES members connecting young solar professionals worldwide.

The Jennetal (the suffix -tal means dale) is a valley cut in the Schönberg mountain and also the name of a nature reserve, where it's located.

Sonnenschiff (lit. 'sun ship') is a large integrated office and retail building in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. It was built in 2004 in the city's Vauban quarter as part of the Solar Settlement at Schlierberg. Sonnenschiff was designed by the architect Rolf Disch (who also built the Heliotrope building) and generates four times more energy than it uses.As a whole this building produces more energy than it consumes per year and utilizes the most up-to-date building technology. Some aspects that make this building particular are its vacuum insulated walls, ventilation with 95% heat recovery, triple paned windows and its energy façade. It is the first positive energy office building worldwide. The office spaces are flanked on both the East and West sides entirely with windows, which maximizes natural lighting and employee views while it minimizes the energy used for artificial lighting. Sonnenschiff includes a supermarket, convenience store and bakery-café on the first floor, offices and work spaces on the 2-4 floors and 9 penthouses on its roof. In addition to the office and retail space, there are two conference rooms.

The Schönberg (earlier known as Schirnberg) is located on the southern outskirts of Freiburg im Breisgau and at 644.9 meters above sea level the Hausberg (a prominent mountain) of the municipality of Ebringen.

Merzhausen is a town in the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg in Germany.

The Dreisam (Celtic: *tragisamā, "the very fast one") is a 29 km long river (48.8 km including its source river Rotbach), and a tributary of the Elz in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The waters of the Dreisam feed the famous Freiburg Bächle runnels.
