St. Joseph's Basilica (Edmonton)

The Archdiocese of Edmonton (Latin: Archidioecesis Edmontonensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or archdiocese in the Canadian civil province of Alberta. The archbishop's cathedral see is located in St. Joseph Cathedral, a minor basilica in Edmonton. The Archdiocese of Edmonton is the metropolitan see of its ecclesiastical province, which also contains two suffragan dioceses: the Dioceses of Calgary and Saint Paul in Alberta. On March 22, 2007, Vatican Information Services announced that a Halifax native, Bishop Richard William Smith of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pembroke, Canada, had been appointed as Archbishop of Edmonton by Pope Benedict XVI. On Saturday, July 14, 2012, an official news release from Vatican Information Service (VIS), an arm of the Holy See Press Office, stated that Pope Benedict XVI had appointed Gregory Bittman, who until then had been serving as the Judicial Vicar and as Archdiocesan Chancellor, as an Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Edmonton and Titular Bishop of Caltadria.

Harcourt House Artist Run Centre is one of four artist-run centres in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The centre delivers a host of services to both artists and the community, and acts as an alternative site for the presentation, distribution and promotion of contemporary art. Harcourt House Artist Run Centre is an artist-run, charitable organization that promotes contemporary visual art to interested individuals and organizations by providing education, exhibitions and resources. The Centre includes two public gallery spaces; and as the single largest community of visual artists in Edmonton, it offers 42 low-rent studios for local practicing artists and other non-profit arts related organizations. A unique area of programming to Harcourt House is the Art Enrichment program that serves over 25 local low income and special needs organizations with low/no cost art education classes.

The Royal Glenora Club is a member-owned, private sport and social club located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Opened in 1961, the Royal Glenora started as an amalgamation of three Edmonton sport clubs; the Glenora Skating and Tennis Club, the Braemar Badminton Club, and the Royal Curling Club. The club has several tennis, squash and badminton courts. In addition, the club features an indoor glass-enclosed pool with a retractable roof and an indoor ice arena. The Royal Glenora Club was the location of the 2006 Women's World Team Squash Championship. The club is one of the major training sites for figure skating in Canada. Notable skaters who have trained at or represented the Royal Glenora Club include Kurt Browning, Jamie Sale and David Pelletier, Michael Slipchuk, Susan Humphreys, Annabelle Langlois and Cody Hay, and Kristi Yamaguchi.

Government Centre station (formerly known as Grandin/Government Centre station) is an Edmonton Light Rail Transit station in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It serves both the Capital Line and the Metro Line. It is an underground station located beneath 110 Street between 99 Avenue and 98 Avenue. The station provides service to the Government Centre part of the downtown core and the neighbourhood of Oliver. The station is connected to the Alberta Legislature Building and several other government buildings by underground walkways of the Edmonton Pedway.

Oliver is one of the oldest residential neighbourhoods in the City of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The southeast portion of the neighbourhood is also known as Grandin, with both Grandin station (now known as Government Centre station and Grandin School located in this part of the neighbourhood. Oliver is immediately to the west of the downtown core, and overlooks the North Saskatchewan River valley south of the neighbourhood. Located in the river valley immediately below Oliver is Edmonton's Royal Glenora Club, Victoria Golf Course, and Victoria Park. The High Level Bridge and Groat Bridge give residents access to the south side of the river valley, including the University of Alberta and Old Strathcona. The Victoria Promenade (part of Edmonton's Heritage Trail) offers attractive vistas of the river valley at the western end of Oliver. Oliver is one of the densest neighbourhoods in Edmonton (10,570 inhabitants per square kilometre (27,400/sq mi)) and West Oliver is the densest area in Alberta. The population in 2009 was 18,203, the highest of every neighbourhood in Edmonton.The north edge of the neighbourhood was once a Canadian National Railway yard. This part of the neighbourhood was recently redeveloped, and includes apartment buildings, the Unity Square and Unity Square West strip shopping centres, some old warehouses converted shops, and parking for the MacEwan University downtown campus. The community is represented on the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues by the Oliver Community League, established in 1922.The neighbourhood is named after Frank Oliver, an early Edmonton resident, businessman, and politician. In January 2024, the city's committee on names selected wîhkwêntôwin (Cree for 'circle of friends') () to replace Oliver and sent this recommendation to city council.

Edmonton was the terminal station for passenger services along the Canadian Pacific Railway's subdivision from Calgary to Edmonton shortly after the completion of the High Level Bridge, with services commencing on September 2, 1913. Passenger services across the North Saskatchewan River were discontinued in 1972, and the station building itself was demolished in 1978.

Victoria Park is a municipal park in Edmonton, Alberta, that is part of the North Saskatchewan River valley parks system. The park features paved cycling and walking paths and several other amenities. Like the other parks in the valley parks system, the park is connected to others via multi-use trails. The park was named in honour of Queen Victoria.

The Alberta New Democratic Party (French: Nouveau Parti démocratique de l'Alberta), commonly shortened to Alberta's NDP, is a social-democratic political party in Alberta, Canada. It is the provincial Alberta affiliate of the federal New Democratic Party, and the successor to the Alberta section of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation and the even earlier Alberta wing of the Canadian Labour Party and the United Farmers of Alberta. From the mid-1980s to 2004, the party abbreviated its name as the "New Democrats" (ND). The party served as Official Opposition in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1982 to 1993. It was shut out of the legislature following the 1993 election, returning in the 1997 election with two seats. The party won no more than four seats in subsequent elections until the 2015 election, in which it won 54 of the 87 seats in the legislature and formed a majority government. Until 2015, Alberta had been the only province in western Canada — the party's birthplace — where the NDP had never governed at the provincial level. The Alberta NDP was defeated after a single term in the 2019 election by the United Conservative Party–the first time that a governing party in Alberta had been unseated after a single term.

The Dudley B. Menzies Bridge is a dedicated LRT bridge crossing the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Named after Edmonton engineer and politician Dudley Blair Menzies, the bridge was the "first concrete segmental box girder bridge in Western Canada". The main deck carries two tracks of the LRT system connecting Government Centre station and the University station. A walkway for pedestrians and bicycles hangs beneath the main spans of the bridge over the river. The American Concrete Institute recognized the joint venture company that built the Dudley B. Menzies Bridge with an Award of Excellence for Design and Construction in Concrete.

NorQuest College is a publicly funded community college in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The student body is approximately 10,900 full-time or part-time credit students, and approximately 8,500 non-credit or continuing education students. Approximately 1,600 students graduate each year.

Corona station is an Edmonton Light Rail Transit station in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It serves both the Capital Line and the Metro Line. It is an underground station located beneath Jasper Avenue between 107 Street and 108 Street. It is the closest station to NorQuest College.

Inglewood is a residential neighbourhood in north west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Between 1946 and 1996, Edmonton's Charles Camsell Hospital was located in the neighbourhood. The hospital was named after Canadian geologist, map maker and Commissioner of the Northwest Territories, Charles Camsell. The neighbourhood is bounded on the north by 118 Avenue, on the south by 111 Avenue, on the west by Groat Road, and on the east by a former Canadian National Railway right of way. The community is represented by the Inglewood Community League, established in 1950, which maintains a community hall located at 125 Street and 116 Avenue.
