Cádiz railway station, is the main railway station of the Spanish city of Cádiz, Andalusia. It served over 1.2 million passengers in 2018, of which 350,000 were Cercanías Cádiz passengers.

The Monument to Moret is an instance of public art in Cádiz, Spain. Designed by Agustín Querol, it consists of a bronze statue of Liberal politician Segismundo Moret (who enjoyed the honorary recognition as "favourite son" of the City of Cádiz) put on top of a pedestal displaying elaborated allegorical reliefs.

The Roman Theatre of Cádiz (Theatrum Balbi) is an ancient structure in Cádiz, Andalusia, in southern Spain. The remains (only partially excavated) were discovered in 1980. The theatre, which was likely built during the 1st century BC and was one of the largest ever built in the Roman Empire, was abandoned in the 4th century and, in the 13th century, a fortress was built on its ruins by order of King Alfonso X of Castile. The theatre featured a cavea with a diameter of more than 120 meters, and could house some 10,000 spectators. The theatre was one of the few Roman structures of ancient Hispania mentioned by classical authors, including Cicero and Strabo. Excavations in the site have also found remains of a quarter dating to the taifa period, Almohad houses and 17th century pits.

Arco del Pópulo is an archway of the city of Cádiz, southern Spain. It has been declared a Bien de Interés Cultural site.The Arco del Pópulo in the city of Cádiz ( Spain ) is the primitive Puerta del Mar, because it accessed the port area, and was flanked by two cubes. At the beginning of the 17th century, the chapel of Nuestra Señora del Pópulo was built before it, which has given it the appearance of a passageway that it presents today. The characteristics of the interior wall match the building techniques of the Islamic walls of the tenth and eleventh centuries, while the arched, arched, it is very possible that originally was horseshoe. The arrangement of its voussoirs makes it possible to situate it in the 12th century, in the Almohad period, like the entire original perimeter wall.

The Cádiz Explosion was a military accident which occurred at 9:45 pm, on 18 August 1947 at a storage depot in the Base de Defensas Submarinas (Submarine Defence Base) in Cádiz, Spain, when some 1,737 sea mines, torpedoes and depth charges (of a total of 2,228 distributed in two depots), containing 200 tonnes of TNT and amatol, exploded for unknown reasons.Official figures given at the time were 150 dead, a figure that has since been reduced to 147, and 5,000 injured, but other sources refer to much higher figures given the extension of the explosion and the populated districts and types of buildings destroyed.As well as the actual military facilities destroyed, the populated districts of San Severiano and San José were seriously damaged. Among the buildings totally wrecked there were the Asilo de Ancianos (old age peoples' home), the Casa Cuna orphanage (41 deaths), a nearby factory (100 workers killed), the Madre De Dios Hospital (no figures given). The Echevarrieta shipyard, right next to the storage depot, and which employed 2,500 workers, only lost 27 men because there were fewer workers on the nightshift. This shipyard had signed a lucrative contract in the mid-1920s to supply the German Navy with German-designed torpedoes and had also built a U-Boat for testing and training.The explosion also destroyed the Punic or Phoenician necropolis, whose excavation works had featured in National Geographic in 1924.

The Church of the Holy Cross (Spanish: Iglesia de la Santa Cruz) is a Roman Catholic church in the Spanish city of Cádiz. It was the cathedral of the Diocese of Cádiz y Ceuta between 1602 and 1838, when the new Cádiz Cathedral was completed.Originally built in 1262 after the conquest of the city by Alfonso X, it was completely rebuilt by 1602 after the first building was burned down by a combined Anglo-Dutch fleet commanded by Admiral Edward Howard, who sacked Cádiz in 1596.

Cádiz Cathedral (Spanish: Catedral de Cádiz, Catedral de Santa Cruz de Cádiz) is a Roman Catholic church in Cádiz, southern Spain, and the seat of the Diocese of Cadiz y Ceuta. It was built between 1722 and 1838. The cathedral was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1931.The Plaza de la Catedral houses both the Cathedral and the Baroque Santiago church, built in 1635. The church was known as "The Cathedral of The Americas" because it was built with money from the trade between Spain and America. The 18th century was a golden age for Cádiz, and the other cathedral that the city had got, Santa Cruz, was very small for this new moment of Cádiz. The new cathedral was built from 1722 to 1838. The first person who designed the church was architect Vicente Acero, who had also built the Granada Cathedral. Acero left the project and was succeeded by several other architects. As a result, this largely baroque-style cathedral was built over a period of 116 years, and, due to this drawn-out period of construction, the cathedral underwent several major changes to its original design. Though the cathedral was originally intended to be a baroque edifice, it contains rococo elements, and was finally completed in the neoclassical style. Its chapels have many paintings and relics from the old cathedral and monasteries from throughout Spain. In the crypt are buried the composer Manuel de Falla and the poet and playwright José María Pemán, both born in Cádiz. Levante Tower, one of the towers of Cádiz Cathedral, is open to the public and shows panoramas of the city from on high.

The Roman Catholic diocese of Cádiz y Ceuta is a diocese of the Latin Church of the Roman Catholic Church in Spain. The diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Seville.Its jurisdiction covers the civil province of Cádiz south to Guadalete river. Includes the comarcas Campo de Gibraltar, La Janda and Bahía de Cádiz except most of Puerto de Santa María which is north to the mentioned Guadalete river and so belongs to diocese of Jerez de la Frontera. Valdelagrana neighbourhood of El Puerto de Santa María, as it south the River also is included in Cádiz diocese. It also covers the Spanish Autónomous City of Ceuta. Cádiz is the residence of the bishop.

The Capture of Cádiz in 1596 was an event during the Anglo-Spanish War, when English and Dutch troops under Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex, and a large Anglo-Dutch fleet under Charles Howard, 1st Earl of Nottingham, with support from the Dutch United Provinces, raided the Spanish city of Cádiz. Due to the Spanish commander's lack of foresight and organisation, the Anglo-Dutch forces met little resistance. In order to deny the raiders their prize the Spanish set fire to their fleet anchored in the Bay of Cádiz; the attacking forces disembarked, captured, sacked, and burned the city and took hostage several of the city's prominent citizens, who were taken back to England to await payment of their ransom. The economic losses caused during the sacking were numerous: the city was burned, as was the fleet, in what was one of the principal English victories in the course of the war. Despite its failure in its primary objective of seizing the Spanish treasure fleet's silver, the raid contributed to Spain's declaration of bankruptcy the following year.
