The Württembergischer Yacht-Club (WYC) is a yacht club in Friedrichshafen. It is located on the shores of Lake Constance, Germany. This club was established in January 1911 as the "Königlich Württembergischer Yacht-Club" (Royal Yacht Club of Württemberg).

Georg Riedmann has been the mayor of Markdorf since 2013. Markdorf was first mentioned in 817 AD and it was given city rights in 1250. It was host to the church council before it was moved to Konstanz. Markdorf with its historic downtown lies beneath the Gehrenberg mountain, on the top of which there is a 30m high climbable tower, which gives a view over Lake Constance and the Swiss, Austrian and German Alps. On 22 December 1939, the location was host to a major train accident which occasioned the death of about 100 people.

The university is accredited by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg and belongs among the best universities in Germany. The university was established in 2003 and is known for its avant-garde character as well as for its sophisticated method of selecting students. It is named after the German general and airship constructor Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin, whose foundation is a prominent financier of the university.

Altraderach Castle (German: Burg Altraderach), also called the Old Castle (Alte Burg) or Little Heathen Palace (Heidenschlösschen), is a levelled castle in the area between Unterraderach and Raderach. Gehrenberg Tower is a 30 metres tall observation tower of lattice steel on Gehrenberg, a 754 m high mountain north of Markdorf, standing at an elevation of 704 m. Gehrenberg Tower has some similarities to Eiffel Tower as it also has a bow between its feet. From the observation deck of Gehrenberg Tower, one can see at clear weather the Alps and the Höchsten mountain. Gehrenberg Tower, which carries also antennas, belongs to the town of Markdorf, although it stands on the area of Deggenhausertal.
