Central College (Glasgow)

Allan Glen's School was, for most of its existence, a local authority, selective secondary school for boys in Glasgow, Scotland, charging nominal fees for tuition. It was founded by the Allan Glen's Endowment Scholarship Trust on the death, in 1850, of Allan Glen, a successful Glasgow tradesman and businessman, "to give a good practical education and preparation for trades or businesses, to between forty to fifty boys, the sons of tradesmen or persons in the industrial classes of society". The School was formally established in 1853 and located in the Townhead district of the city, on land that Glen had owned on the corner of North Hanover Street and Cathedral Street.

The City of Glasgow College (Scottish Gaelic: Colaiste Baile Glaschu) is a further and higher education college in the city of Glasgow. It was founded in 2010 when the Central College, Glasgow Metropolitan College, and the Glasgow College of Nautical Studies merged. It is the largest college and technical institution in Scotland.Located in Scotland's largest city, Glasgow, the college has two campuses; Riverside Campus situated on the River Clyde and City Campus located in the city centre. The City Campus was opened in 2016 and Riverside Campus was opened in 1969 as the Glasgow College of Nautical Studies and underwent an extensive refurbishment, opening in 2015. Both developments were contracted by Sir Robert McAlpine with architects Michael Laird and Reiach & Hall. Both campuses were shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize.

The Rottenrow is a street in the Townhead district of Glasgow, Scotland. One of the oldest streets in the city, it was heavily redeveloped in the 20th century and is now enveloped by the University of Strathclyde's John Anderson Campus.

The James Weir Building is an academic building in Glasgow City Centre, Scotland, United Kingdom and is part of the University of Strathclyde’s John Anderson Campus, situated between the Townhead and Merchant City districts of the area. It was completed in 1958 as an extension to the Royal College Building. It is the third largest building on the John Anderson Campus in terms of overall floor area after the Royal College and the Curran Building. In addition, the stair and lift tower on the south east corner of the building is the second highest structure on the campus after the Livingstone Tower, and is highly visible throughout the eastern side of the city centre. The building is home to three faculties, The Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, The Department of Design, Manufacture & Engineering Management and The Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, all of which are part of the Faculty of Engineering. The James Weir Building is situated on Montrose Street, and is surrounded by the Royal College of Science and Technology building, the old Students' Union building and the Thomas Graham Building. It is a 5-minute walk from Queen Street railway station and George Square.

The Livingstone Tower is a prominent high rise building in Glasgow, Scotland and is a part of the University of Strathclyde's John Anderson Campus. The building was named after David Livingstone. The address of the building is 26 Richmond Street, Glasgow. The building is a notable landmark in the eastern side of the city centre, and its high position on the drumlin of Rottenrow means it can be seen from some considerable distance throughout the city's East End. It was also among the earliest high-rise commercial buildings to go up in the city centre in the post-war period, pre-dated only by St Andrew's House (1964), Fleming House (1961), and the Royal Stuart Hotel (1963)—the latter having been owned by Strathclyde University in the 1980s and early 1990s as a student hall of residence.

Strathclyde Law School was established in 1964 and operates within the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences at the University of Strathclyde, in Glasgow, Scotland. The Law School currently operates from the Lord Hope Building (named after Lord Hope of Craighead, former Chancellor of the University and former Deputy President of the UK Supreme Court). The Law School offers a full range of undergraduate and postgraduate taught and research degrees.

The University of Strathclyde (Scottish Gaelic: Oilthigh Shrath Chluaidh) is a public research university located in Glasgow, Scotland. Founded in 1796 as the Andersonian Institute, it is Glasgow's second-oldest university, having received its royal charter in 1964 as the first technological university in the United Kingdom. Taking its name from the historic Kingdom of Strathclyde, it is Scotland's third-largest university by number of students, with students and staff from over 100 countries.The institution was named University of the Year 2012 by Times Higher Education and again in 2019, becoming the first university to receive this award twice. The annual income of the institution for 2021–22 was £387.8 million of which £108.3 million was from research grants and contracts, with an expenditure of £520.4 million.

The Strathclyde Business School (SBS) is one of four faculties forming the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Founded in 1948, the school is located on Cathedral Street within the John Anderson campus of the university. It offers courses for business education and management development. Strathclyde Business School has around 200 academic staff and more than 4500 students (1960 undergraduate and 2615 postgraduate), with 11 subject departments and specialist units providing more specialist and cross-disciplinary postgraduate courses. It has been granted Triple Accreditation. Strathclyde is the first triple accredited business school in Scotland. In November 2016, it was awarded THE Business School of the Year in UK. The Economist and Financial Times ranked the Strathclyde Business School's Master of Business Administration (MBA) 76th and 63rd worldwide in 2016, while its Executive MBA and Master's program in Finance was ranked 41st and 33rd worldwide by Financial Times in 2016. The school has international centres in six countries: Switzerland, Greece, Singapore, UAE, Oman, and Malaysia

The Andersonian Library is the university library of the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Established in 1796, it is one of the largest of its type in Scotland. Access to the Library is restricted to Strathclyde student and other library membership card holders., retired staff and corporate members.

Townhead (Scottish Gaelic: Ceann a' Bhaile, Scots: Tounheid) is an area of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. It is situated immediately north-east of Glasgow city centre and contains a residential sector (redeveloped from an older neighbourhood in the mid 20th century, largely with tower blocks), a commercial/industrial sector and an educational zone containing the main campuses of both the University of Strathclyde and City of Glasgow College.

Parliamentary Road was a major street in the Townhead area of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. The road was the original north eastern continuation of Sauchiehall Street, crossing the railway tracks of Queen Street Station and on into the Townhead area of the East End. It was originally constructed at a cost of £6,000 and was a toll road until 1865.The Glasgow Lunatic Asylum was located on Parliamentary Road between 1814 and 1843, when it moved to new premises at Gartnavel Royal Hospital.However, a combination of slum clearance and the subsequent construction of the Townhead B housing estate in the 1960s, and later; the construction of Buchanan Street Bus Station in the late 1970s saw a complete rearrangement of the roads in the area. The western section of the road was realigned in an approximate east–west axis between North Hanover Street and West Nile Street and was renamed as Killermont Street (the original Killermont Street having been a continuation of West Nile Street, running north–south), whilst the eastern section disappeared in the 1960s during the slum clearance efforts of the period, and their replacement under a major council house redevelopment. A path running north easterly through the housing estate follows the approximate line of the route. The final remains of Parliamentary Road were removed in the 1990s when the construction of the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and the Buchanan Galleries shopping mall over the western end of the road took place, and an eastern stub disappeared under a five-a-side football complex.

Bible Training Institute, established in 1892, was a bible college which aimed to evangelise the working classes in Scotland. It was closed in 2018 due to financial deficit.
