Cergy

Cergy-Pontoise (French pronunciation: [sɛʁʒi pɔ̃twɑz]) is a new town and an agglomeration community in France, in the Val-d'Oise and Yvelines departments, northwest of Paris on the river Oise. It owes its name to two of the communes that it covers, Cergy and Pontoise. Its population is 206,654 (2017), in an area of 84.2 km2. Created in the 1970s, it became an agglomeration community in 2004.

EBI is a Grande Ecole d'Ingénieurs (Top graduate engineering school) founded in 1992, providing courses in Industrial Engineering with a strong focus on Biological Engineering. EBI is a private technical further education establishment managed by a non-profit association, the purpose of which is to offer further education courses in industrial biology, whether in the form of initial training or continued vocational training. EBI is state-approved and authorised to teach scholarship students. It awards a Master's engineering degree recognised by the Engineering Qualifications Commission and also offers specialised 1-year postgraduate courses. EBI's governing body is composed of various industrial partners : Air Liquide, Galderma, DERMA Développement, EFFIK, Association FERT, L'Oréal ... It is chaired by Xavier YON, former CEO of GALDERMA. EBI is a member of the Saint Louis Polytechnic Institute (with 2,200 students, 500 postgraduates every year), grouping together complementary specialist colleges in Cergy to provide a multidisciplinary approach to engineering sciences as well as lateral humanities and vocational training. EBI is a founding member of the Cergy-Pontoise Val d’Oise further education and research centre, along with Cergy's other prestigious colleges (ESSEC, ENSEA, EISTI, etc.) and Cergy-Pontoise University. It is also member of the University of Paris-Seine.

CY Tech, formerly EISTI (École internationale des sciences du traitement de l'information), is a French graduate engineering school created in 1983.It is located across three campuses (Cergy, Pau, Saint-Germain-en-Laye) and specialises in the fields of computer science, applied mathematics, biotechnology, chemistry and civil engineering. The college is a member of the University of Paris-Seine.

École Nationale Supérieure de l'Électronique et de ses Applications (also known as ENSEA) is a graduate school (grande école) of electrical engineering and computer science, located in Cergy (in Val d'Oise department) close to Paris in France. It was founded in 1952 under the name of ENREA and became ENSEA in 1976.

Ham is a small village to the south of Cergy. The village used to be part of the Sergentery and then commune of Neuville-sur-Oise but has since been amalgamated in the commune of Cergy. It is situated on the southern side of the River Oise and is linked to Cergy by a one way bridge. The area is rather flat as it is inside the last meander of the river. On its territory is the outdoor leisure centre Base de Loisirs de Cergy-Neuville.

CY Cergy Paris University (French: CY Cergy Paris Université) is a public university located in Cergy-Pontoise, France. It was officially announced in October 2019 by the décret that the university would be founded by combining other institutions on 1 January 2020. The official status of the university is an experimental institution.

Cergy-Pontoise University (French: Université de Cergy-Pontoise) was a French university, located in Cergy-Pontoise, France. On 1 January 2020, the university merged with the International School of Information Processing Sciences (EISTI) and the University of Paris-Seine to form CY Cergy Paris University. Cergy-Pontoise University is a public university and a leading centre of teaching and research, which welcomes 18,000 students and 1,500 international students interested in studying abroad. The university is located in the west of Paris (30 km from central Paris), in the Val-d'Oise department. The university also managed the Institut d'études politiques de Saint-Germain-en-Laye (in cooperation with the Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University).

The École nationale supérieure d'arts de Paris Cergy is a National public school of art and design established in Cergy-Pontoise. It is one of the 5 National Art school in France, run by the French Ministry of Culture (France). Recognized as France's second best graduate school of arts, it delivers the DNSEP, Master's degree of Fine Arts, as well as Post Masters. It presents itself as a "laboratory for contemporary art" around dance studios, film, sound, video, painting, photography, drawing, writing, and multimedia. It runs its own art gallery, Ygrec, located in ParisIt runs exchange programs with La Cambre in Brussels; Central Saint Martins, London; Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles; Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen, among others

The École Supérieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (more commonly ESSEC Business School or ESSEC) is a French business and management school, with non-profit association status (French association law of 1901), founded in 1907, with its principal campus located in Cergy. It also has locations in La Défense, Rabat and Singapore, which are used in particular for the ESSEC Global BBA and ESSEC Executive MBA programs. Founded by Jesuits in response to the creation of HEC Paris, it remained independent of any chamber of commerce and industry for a long time before passing it in 1981 under the control of the Versailles, which became the CCI of Paris Île-de-France in 2013. Today, ESSEC is a member of the CY Alliance, formerly Université Paris-Seine. The ESSEC group delivers numerous training courses in administration and management, in particular through its post-preparatory class course called the "Grande École Program" conferring the master's degree. It also delivers a "BBA" (Bachelor in Business Administration), specialized masters (SM), a master's degree in business administration (MBA) and doctorates. Historical rival of HEC Paris and of ESCP Business School, it forms with the latters the group of "three Parisians", which designates the three most prestigious business schools in France. ESSEC is also regularly cited among the best business schools in France and in Europe.

The ESSEC Global BBA is the Bachelor of Business Administration program of ESSEC Business School, France. It was created in 1975 by ESSEC to prepare students to meet the needs of French firms launching operations on the international market. In 1977, the degree became the first ever undergraduate degree outside of the US to be awarded AACSB accreditation. In 2003, it became the first undergraduate degree to hold both EQUIS and AACSB accreditations.

The EDF-GDF tower is an office building built in 1974 in the heart of the new town of Cergy, France, in the Cergy Prefecture business and administrative district.

Cergy-Préfecture is a railway station in Cergy, France. The station was opened on 31 March 1979 (1979-03-31) and receives trains from Paris-Saint-Lazare as well as the RER. The station is underground and has two platforms. The entire area above and around the station is built up and the département council has its offices next to the station (hence the station's name). The station is at the heart of a transport interchange at level -1 with the bus station at ground level. Level 1 is a large concrete slab plaza with shops and living apartments. Cergy–Préfecture only has two platforms, with the platform situated between both tracks. Walls at platform level were painted with graffiti with messages of peace to discourage vandals. The general ambiance of the station is rather dark, but secure but CCTV monitoring the interchange. Rail services link Cergy to Cergy-le-Haut and the Western Paris suburbs. Buses serve the ville nouvelle and particularly Pontoise and the rest of Val-d'Oise département.
