Kaw River State Park is a state park in Topeka, Kansas, USA. Kaw River, the only urban type state park in Kansas, is relatively small at 76 acres (31 ha). The property was donated to the state in 2005 and officially opened to the public on September 4, 2010. Located on the bank of the Kansas River in Topeka, the Kaw River State Park is located adjacent and west of Cedar Crest (location of the Kansas Governor's mansion, and the well developed 244-acre (99 ha) MacLennan Park) and just NE of the Kansas Wildlife & Parks Region 2 Office. To the west of the Kaw River State Park there are additional developed trails with some extreme terrain, however, this is posted private land and the owners have asked the public to stay out.

The Westgate Bridge is a four-lane automobile crossing of the Kansas River at Topeka, Kansas, U.S.A. The bridge runs concurrent with U.S. Highway 75. The bridge extends from Interstate 70 across the river to NW 17th Street.

Gage Park is a city park of 160 acres (0.65 km2) in Topeka, Kansas, United States. It was established in 1899 and is one of the largest parks in Topeka. It features the Topeka Zoo, the Kansas Children's Discovery Center, a miniature train of 15 in (381 mm) gauge, the Helen Hocker Theater, the Blaisdell family aquatic center, and the Reinisch Rose Garden. The 70-year-old rose garden is a popular place for weddings and events, and also a place where serious horticultural work is done.

It is located within Gage Park, just off I-70 in the north central portion of the city. Despite its size, it houses over 300 animals in a number of exhibits, including one of the first indoor tropical rain forests in the United States. It is one of the most popular attractions in Topeka, with over 250,000 visitors a year. The Topeka Zoo is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

As of the 2020 census, the population was 178,909, making it the third-most populous county in Kansas. The county was one of the original 33 counties created by the first territorial legislature in 1855, and it was named for the Shawnee tribe.

The Pottawatomie Baptist Mission Building is a historic mission off W 6th Street, one-half mile west of Wanamaker Road in Topeka, Kansas. It was built in 1849 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. It was built to serve Pottawatomie Native Americans who had been forcibly removed along the Potawatomi Trail of Death in 1838 from the Ohio region to a reservation on the Kansas River west of Topeka. Baptist missionaries Robert Simerwell and Reverend Johnston Lykins came to the reservation in 1848, from the nearby Shawnee mission. Lykins petitioned for, designed, and oversaw the construction of the building at a cost to the federal government of US$4,800 (equivalent to about $162,000 in 2022).As a school, it was a three-story building made of ashlar stone 85 by 35 feet (26 m × 11 m) in plan, with 12 rooms and 60 windows and doors.It was closed in 1861 because its administrator, the Southern Baptist Convention, was identified with the Confederate States of America during Bleeding Kansas and leading up to the American Civil War. The 320 acres (130 ha) of land was sold to Robert I. Lee and the building was remodeled into a race horse barn. It is now owned by the Kansas Historical Society as a museum component. It is one of the oldest buildings in the Kansas, and is the only surviving historical structure of pioneering Baptist missions in Kansas.
