Dillenburg

Castle Dillenburg, in the provincial town of Dillenburg in Hesse-Nassau, is situated on a hill (elevation 958 feet) above the Dill river, 25 miles northwest from Gießen on the Giessen-Troisdorf railway line. The main building of the old castle was deconstructed in 1760 after suffering fire from cannon damage in the Seven Years' War. Today the hill above the town still has the ruins of the 17th-century fortifications of the old schloss Dillenburg, but nothing at all remains of the original fortifications, which were mostly wood. It was founded by Count Henry the Rich of Nassau, about the year 1240, and later became the birthplace of Prince William of Orange in 1533. Due to the effects of the Protestant reformation, in the town below is the (since 1530) Evangelical church but formerly Johanniskirche from 1491, with the vault of the princes of Nassau-Dillenburg.

Dillenburg station is a through station in the town of Dillenburg in the German state of Hesse. Immediately adjacent to the station is the central bus station, which is served by many bus lines connecting to the surrounding countryside. Together they form the public transport node of Dillenburg.

Herborn (German pronunciation: [ˈhɛʁˌbɔʁn] ) is a historic town on the Dill in the Lahn-Dill district of Hesse in Germany. Before World War I, it was granted its own title as Nassauisches Rothenburg. The symbol or mascot of this town is a bear. Scenic attractions include its half-timbered houses; Herborn is located on the German Timber-Frame Road. Herborn hosted the 26th Hessentag state festival in 1986, and the 56th Hessentag in 2016.

Haiger station serves the town of Haiger in the Lahn-Dill-Kreis of the German state of Hesse. The first station at this point was opened 1862 when the Cologne-Minden Railway Company built the Deutz–Gießen railway, connecting Cologne-Deutz with Gießen. The station became more important when the direct connection was opened to Siegen (now considered part of the Dill line) in 1915.
