Cuddebackville Dam

Cuddebackville is a hamlet in the town of Deerpark, located in Orange County, New York, United States. Taking US-209, Its location is about ten miles (16 km) north of Port Jervis. Cuddebackville is home to Hamilton Bicentennial Elementary School which is run by the Port Jervis City School District. This hamlet is also home to D&H Canal Park and The Neversink River Unique Area. The hamlet was named after William Cuddeback, a general from The War of 1812 and a descendant of the Cuddeback family, one of the first families to settle in the area.The Cuddebackville Dam was a dam that was located in Cuddebackville. This dam was built in the 1820s and expanded on in 1903. In October 2004, the dam was removed by the Army Corps of Engineers to help aquatic life in the area.According to the Census Bureau, the center of population in New York is located within the hamlet of Cuddebackville.Cuddebackville also is home to the global headquarters of the Falun Gong movement and the Shen Yun performance arts troupe.

Basher Kill is a stream in Orange and Sullivan counties in the U.S. state of New York. It is a tributary to the Neversink River.The stream headwaters are at 41°35′10″N 74°27′58″W and elevation of approximately 540 feet in Sullivan County just north of Wurtsboro and connected to the Delaware and Hudson Canal. The stream flows to the southwest paralleling U.S. Route 209 passing under New York Route 17 southeast of Wurtsboro. The stream enters Orange County at the village of Westbrookville. The stream continues to the southwest crossing under New York Route 211 to its confluence with the Neversink River at 41°26′58″N 74°35′35″W at an elevation of 459 feet. The confluence is just northeast of the community of Myers Grove.Basher Kill was named after Bashee, a local Native American woman. Many variant spellings have been recorded, including "Ba-sha Kill", "Basha's Kill", "Basher's Kill", "Bashers Kil", Bashers Kill", and "Bashes Kil".The stream flows through Basha Kill Wildlife Management Area, a manmade wetland maintained by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) as a New York State Wildlife Management Area. The NYSDEC built a dam along the watercourse in the 1970s to preserve the Basha Kill and its wildlife.

Dragon Springs, also known as The Mountain, is a 427-acre (1.73 km2) compound in Deerpark, New York, US that serves as the headquarters of the global Falun Gong new religious movement and the Shen Yun performance arts troupe. Falun Gong founder and leader Li Hongzhi lives near the compound, as do hundreds of Falun Gong adherents. Members of Shen Yun live and rehearse in the compound, which also has an orphanage, schools and temples.

Deerpark is a town in the western part of Orange County, New York, United States, and part of the New York metropolitan area. As of the 2020 Census, the population was at 7,509. The Neversink Preserve is located in Deerpark, Orange County, New York. It was created in 1993 by The Nature Conservancy. They purchased 170 acres (69 ha) of land on the Neversink River and created the Neversink Preserve in order to protect the newly discovered and federally endangered species of mussel, the dwarf wedge mussel. Over time they have purchased more land so that the Neversink Preserve covers 550 acres (220 ha). Theodore Gordon, considered the father of modern American fly-fishing, perfected his dry-fly techniques here in the 19th century. Nearly 15 million people rely on the waters of the Delaware River Basin for drinking water and industrial use, making the Neversink Preserve a top priority of The Nature Conservancy.

Neversink Valley Grange Hall No. 1530 is a historic Grange meeting hall located in Huguenot, Orange County, New York. It was built in 1934, and is a one-story with raised basement, rectangular wood-frame building with a medium pitched front gable roof. It has a projecting entry block that includes a vestibule and stairs to the upper and lower levels. In addition to a Grange hall, the building served as an early community center. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

The Huguenot Schoolhouse, also known as District Schoolhouse No. 3, the 1863 Schoolhouse and the Town of Deerpark Museum, is located on South Grange Road a short distance from US 209 in Huguenot, a hamlet of the Town of Deerpark in Orange County, New York, United States. It was built in 1863, and is a large, one-story, Greek Revival style masonry building. It closed as a school in 1961, and currently serves as a local historic museum. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997, the only property in the town of Deerpark so recognized besides the remnants of the Delaware and Hudson Canal.

Huguenot is a hamlet in the town of Deerpark, in Orange County, New York, United States. It is located north of Port Jervis on US-209. Huguenot Schoolhouse and Neversink Valley Grange Hall No. 1530 are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The community was named after Huguenot immigrants. Huguenot is also named for Huguenot families Cuddeback and Gumaer who settled the area in 1698. The Indian name for the area was Seneyaugnquan. From 1918 to 2021 the YMCA of Greater New York maintained a YMCA camp near Huguenot. In March 2021, it was announced that the camp would be closing its doors and was to be sold. This was due to an overall loss of around $100 million during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since 2005, the annual electro-music music festival has been held in Huguenot's Greenkill Retreat Center.

The Otisville Tunnel is the longest tunnel on New York's Metro-North commuter railroad, at 5,314 feet (1,620 m) in length. Although the track curves at the western opening, underground the tunnel is a straight line, allowing the observer to see all the way through. It is currently owned by Metro-North, having been sold by the Norfolk Southern Railway in 2003.

The Dodge-Greenleaf House is on NY 211 in Otisville, New York, United States. It was built circa 1855 in the Gothic Revival style. The architect is unknown but it exemplifies contemporary trends in home design popularized by the writings and pattern books of Andrew Jackson Downing of nearby Newburgh, as articulated in the Picturesque mode. Since its construction it has remained a private home. At one point it was owned by the Erie Railroad, used as worker housing while it was building the Otisville Tunnel beneath the property. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 5, 2008, the first in Otisville to be so listed.
