Garden Village, Wrexham

Rhosddu Recreation Ground was a football ground in Wrexham, Wales. It was first mentioned in the local press in September 1879 as the New Recreation Ground, Rhosddu, prior to a game between Civil Service (Wrexham) and Gwersyllt Foresters.It was the home ground of Wrexham between 1881 and 1883. It hosted home games of Wrexham Civil Service, Wrexham Excelsior, Wrexham Albion and Wrexham Victoria to name a few. It was last used for football in 1885.

Rhosddu (Welsh: Rhos-ddu; ) is a suburb and community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, covering the north-western parts of the city of Wrexham and comprises the wards of Grosvenor, Garden Village and Stansty. At the 2011 Census, the population of the community was 6,840 and 11.8% of people aged 3+ spoke Welsh.

Wheatsheaf Junction was the name given to the location where a branch of the North Wales Mineral Railway to Brymbo connected with Shrewsbury and Chester line between Wrexham and Gresford. The junction, which was 1.3 mi (2.1 km) from Wrexham General station, was built in 1844 during the period known as Railway Mania. It was designed to facilitate the connection between the mineral areas of Brymbo with Chester, Wrexham and Ruabon. The junction takes its name from the Wheatsheaf public house in Gwersyllt (at 53°04′19″N 3°01′09″W) under which the line ran. The branch, which was very straight in places, went directly up Gwersyllt Hill through the 220 ft (67 m) Summerhill Tunnel to Westminster Colliery. It then continued to the other side of Moss Valley through the 400 ft (120 m) Brymbo Tunnel to Brymbo Steelworks. Due to the steepness of the line, wagons on these sections were worked on incline planes using a two-rope pulley system known locally as 'brakes'. In 1862, the Wheatsheaf branch was superseded by a new branch line from the locomotive yard and works at Croes Newydd just south of Wrexham General. The railway, which was called the Wrexham and Minera Branch, connected both Brymbo and the mines and quarries at Minera. It was also a great improvement over the Wheatsheaf line because it could be worked throughout by steam engines. By 1882, the Moss Branch had opened connecting Westminster Colliery at Gwersyllt to Croes Newydd. Progressively parts of the original Wheatsheaf branch fell into disuse throughout the latter part of the 19th century. By 1918 only a yard for 269 wagons on the branch between Wheatsheaf Junction and Westminster Colliery (at 53°4′31″N 3°1′55″W) remained in operation. The junction was closed and the remaining line lifted after the colliery closed in 1925.

Rhosddu Halt railway station was a station in Rhosddu, Wrexham, Wales. The station was opened in July 1906 and closed on 1 March 1917. Used by workmen until about 1923.

Stansty () is an area and electoral ward in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, lying to the immediate north-west of the city of Wrexham. It is a former civil parish and township. Stansty is also an electoral ward to Wrexham County Borough Council. The ward population as taken at the 2011 Census was 2,114.

Rhosrobin Halt was a minor railway station located on the Great Western Railway's Paddington to Birkenhead line a few miles north of Wrexham in Wales. Only local trains called here, and freight was never handled at the station. The route is still open today as part of the Shrewsbury to Chester Line. The station was located just north of Wheatsheaf Junction, where the goods line from Cefn-y-Bedd joined on the north side of the line. The double track on the Wrexham to Chester section was singled in the 1980s but has been re-doubled in part since, with work completed in April 2017.

Abbotsfield is a Grade II listed building in Rhosddu, Wrexham, North Wales. It was formerly a private residence, and later a council office, until it was converted into the Abbotsfield Priory Hotel in the 1970s, later adding a restaurant and bar. The building is now The Lemon Tree restaurant, bar and hotel.

The Grove Park School (or simply the Groves School) is a former school building in Wrexham, North Wales, which was home to a school between 1939 and 2003. The site has been derelict since 2003, and was proposed for demolition by Wrexham council, until the Welsh Government listed the building in 2016 following a campaign to preserve it. Various bids have been made to re-develop the site, including becoming part of Coleg Cambria, converted into a new primary school or a Welsh-medium secondary school, a medical training facility, and most recently part of a national gallery. There were initially two schools using the local name Grove Park, a boys and a girls school, based on Grove Park Road and Chester Road respectively, until they were both converted into comprehensive schools, with the former boys school merging to the main existing girls school site, in which it became the Bromfield High School and later Groves High School. The old boys school buildings became part of Coleg Cambria's Yale campus.

Yale College, Wrexham (Coleg Iâl) is now part of Coleg Cambria. Formerly a further education college situated in Wrexham, North Wales, Yale College, Wrexham merged with Deeside College in August 2013 to create Coleg Cambria, the college for North East Wales, one of the largest UK colleges. Coleg Cambria is a Young Adult community for people aged 16 years and older. Coleg Cambria consists of six campuses including Deeside, Yale Grove Park, Yale Bersham Road, Llysfasi, Northop and Wrexham Training. The college offers a wide range of courses from Further Education to HNC’s and Foundation Degrees for full and part-time students, apprentices and part-time community learners.

The Wrexham and East Denbighshire War Memorial Hospital is a former hospital in Wrexham (then in historic Denbighshire), North Wales. Its construction was partly fundraised by locals, and it was used as a war memorial to World War I. It opened in 1926, alongside two neighbouring hospital facilities, the Roseneath Auxiliary Hospital and the William & John Jones Hospital, which later became part of the War Memorial Hospital. The entire hospital facility closed in 1986, with its services moved to Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The building was later renovated and converted into an educational building as part of Coleg Cambria's Yale campus.

Pandy (Welsh: Y Pandy; standardised: Pandy; meaning the fulling mill) is a village near Gwersyllt and Rhosrobin, in Wrexham, Wrexham County Borough, Wales. The main entrance to Gresford Colliery stood in the village. Gresford Colliery Social Club is in the village and alongside it a memorial to the Gresford Disaster, which killed 266 men on September 22, 1934. Plas Acton Road originally linked the village to the main Chester Road, but was severed by the construction of the A483 by-pass. A footbridge crosses the new road maintaining the link for pedestrians. There are the remains of a mill on the River Alyn just below the village at the rear of the Pandy Business Park, in an area known as "The Wilderness". The Gresford Heath estate, built around the year 2000 on the site of the coalsheds for the former Colliery, doubled the population of the village. The naming reflects an attempt to raise house values in a former industrial village and to 'deWelshify' the village name. A new development of 9 luxury houses has been built on the site of the former Goodwins Milk/Express Dairy depot. There have been further plans for housing to go on the nearby fields to Pandy but local people have objected to more houses. The coal tip on the edge of the village is the proposed site of a development of a dry ski slope, located on the main Wrexham - Chester road. There are two small industrial estates in the village again on the old Colliery site.

Grosvenor Road (Welsh: Ffordd Grosvenor) is a road and conservation area in Wrexham city centre, North Wales. The conservation area spans the road itself and adjacent streets, particularly all of Grove Road.
