Asker station

Asker (Norwegian: Asker), also called Asker proper (Askerbygda or gamle Asker in Norwegian), is a district and former municipality in Akershus, Norway. From 2020 it is part of the larger administrative municipality Asker (also known as Greater Asker) together with the traditional Buskerud districts Røyken and Hurum; Asker proper constitutes the northern fourth and is part of the Greater Oslo Region. The administrative centre was the town of Asker, which remains so for the new larger municipality. Asker was established as a parish in the Middle Ages and as a municipality on 1 January 1838.

Asker Municipality, informally referred to as Greater Asker (Norwegian: Stor-Asker), is a municipality in Akershus county, Norway, that was established in 2020 by the merger of Asker in Akershus and Røyken and Hurum in Buskerud county. Asker proper (also called Askerbygda) constitutes the northern fourth of the municipality, while Røyken and Hurum constitute the southern three quarters. It is part of the Greater Oslo Region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Asker.

Asker Upper Secondary School (Norwegian: Asker videregående skole) is an upper secondary school in Asker, Norway. Founded in 1955, it has 680 students aged 16–19, as of 2018. The school only offers a general academics program, after the sports program got moved to Bleiker Upper Secondary School (Norwegian: Bleiker videregående skole)

The Subsea Valley(SSV) geographically consists of Fornebu, Sandvika, Asker, Tranby, Drammen, Hokksund and Kongsberg, totaling approximately 75 km in length. The SSV consists of 184 firms and currently incorporates three of the five major subsea engineering companies that compete in the industry. The major engineering companies within the SV are FMC Technologies, Aker Solutions and GE Vetco. With regard to subsea production systems, Norwegian suppliers have gained global market shares in the range of 60-70%, and companies such as FMC Technologies, Aker Solutions and GE are truly global players within this segment. The competitors located outside the cluster are Cameron and DrillQuip. In a recent report by TESS it is stated that in addition to the companies, which are present in the SSV area, as many as 600 companies are in one or another way connected to the valley. The three central companies in Subsea Valley – FMC Technologies, Aker Solutions and GE Vetco – are supplying oil & gas extraction equipment to such hydrocarbon operators as Statoil, Exxon and Petrobras.

Føyka Stadion (also called Asker Stadion) is a sports stadium in Asker, Norway with running track. It is currently used mostly for association football matches, and is the home ground of Asker Fotball. The stadium has a capacity of 2,000.

Bondivatn Station (Norwegian: Bondivatn holdeplass) is a railway station in Asker, Norway on the Spikkestad Line. It was opened as part of the Drammen Line on 7 July 1952. In 1973 the Lieråsen Tunnel opened through Lieråsen, and the old part of the Drammen Line was transformed to a commuter train line. The station is served by commuter trains to Oslo Central Station and onward to Lillestrøm Station. Bondivatn is primarily a residential area.

Bleiker High School (Bleiker videregående skole) is located in Asker, Norway. The school was established in 1969 under the name Asker vocational school and was the first vocational school in Asker . Previously, students would take vocational education go to Sandvika. But in 1967, two branch classes in Asker, and they became the basis for the new school was the first time lived in many places. After 10 years it got its own school building in 1979.

Varner Arena (formerly Risenga Ishall) is an indoor ice hockey arena, located in Asker, Norway. The 3,650-spectator arena serves as the home of Fjordkraft-ligaen side Frisk Asker Ishockey. Construction on the new arena started on September 3, 2019, and Varner Arena had its official opening on 19 February 2022 against Stavanger Oilers, Frisk Asker also won 3-2 after overtime. The construction of the ice rink started in the autumn of 2019. Varner Arena has a spectator capacity of 3800 spectators, approximately divided into 3150 seats, 500 standing places and 150 restaurant guests. The track width is 26 meters, which is an «NHL goal». Varner Arena has a parking basement with space for about 200 cars. Frisk Asker Ice Hockey has entered into an agreement with the fashion group Varner-Gruppen in 2022, which means that the club's new arena will be called Varner Arena. The agreement has a framework of 10 years.

Askerhallen is an indoor ice hockey arena located in Asker, Norway. The capacity of the arena is 2,400 and was opened in 1969. It is the home arena of Frisk Tigers ice hockey team and the juniors of Frisk Asker. In 1969, Norway's fourth indoor ice hockey rink was opened in Asker, the first of its kind in the Oslo area. Farmer Bjørn Mortensen wished to give something back to the community, and came to agreement with the local municipality to build Askerhallen. The arena was damaged in a fire in 1972, but it was quickly rebuilt and re-opened for the 1972–73 season. The arena's appearance is much the same today as it was back then, apart from the installation of new seating, VIP and press boxes.

Borgen is a suburb located in the municipality of Asker, Norway. Located some 40 kilometres west of Oslo, Borgen has many different styles of residential areas, ranging from the apartment complexes and semi-detached houses in the southern area of Borgen, to the villas of Borgen Skog. There are two elementary schools, Rønningen Barneskole and Hagaløkka Barneskole, and middle school, Borgen Ungdomsskole. Mount Vardåsen offers downhill skiing in winter, and during the rest of the year nice terrain for Orienteering.

The Asker International School (AIS) is an international school in Asker, Norway.

The Skaugum Tunnel (Norwegian: Skaugumtunnelen) is a 3,790-meter (2 mi) long railway tunnel in Asker, Norway, on the Asker Line. The tunnel runs between Asker Station and Solstad and was built as part of the first stage of the Asker Line, between Asker and Sandvika. Construction started in February 2002 and the tunnel opened on 27 August 2005. The tunnel was built by Mika for the Norwegian National Rail Administration using the drilling and blasting method with one crosscut. During construction there was one blasting accident. Since the tunnel opened, there have been problems with leaks damaging the infrastructure. The tunnel has double track, is electrified and allows for a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour (99 mph). The cost to build the tunnel, excluding the infrastructure, was 450 million Norwegian krone (NOK). The tunnel has accelerated intercity and regional traffic west of Oslo and freed up capacity for the Oslo Commuter Rail on the old Drammen Line.
