The Carp River is a river in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is 42 kilometres (26 miles) long and its watershed drains an area of approximately 306 km2 spread across Stittsville, Kanata, and West Carleton-March. The headwaters originate as the upper Carp River (also called Carp Creek), which runs southwest from Appaloosa Park under Eagleson Road through Glen Cairn where it empties into the marshes and storm water ponds south of the Canadian Tire Centre. From there it flows north through West Carleton-March into the Ottawa River at Fitzroy Harbour. The Carp River has four major tributaries: Poole Creek, Feedmill Creek, Huntley Creek, and Corkery Creek. The watershed is administered by the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority. The Carp River likely takes its name from the abundance of native sucker fish (White Sucker - Catostomos commersonii) found in the river by early European explorers or settlers. The French name for sucker fish is carpe and the native suckers bear some resemblance to the common European Carp (Cyprinus carpio), especially around the mouth. They prefer the shallow, warm, slow moving waters of the Carp River and inhabit the river today, along with introduced European Carp. In the spring there is enough run-off water from melting ice that the Carp River becomes a whitewater paddling site. The put-in is beside a bridge (crossing the river) on Carp Road between Kinburn Side Road and Galetta Side Road. The whitewater is class 2 to 3 and excellent for kayaking and canoeing.

The Morris Island Conservation Area is operated by the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority.Located on the Ottawa River near Fitzroy Harbour, the Morris Island Conservation Area consists of 47 hectares of forested woodlands and wetlands. It allows for hiking, picnicking, canoeing (within the bay areas of the island), and fishing (including accessible fishing platforms).

Quyon is a village that is part of Pontiac, Quebec, in the Les Collines-de-l'Outaouais Regional County Municipality (MRC des Collines).

Fitzroy Harbour is a small village within the city of Ottawa in eastern Ontario, Canada. It is located on the Ottawa River at the mouth of the Carp River. A branch of the Mississippi River, known as the Snye, also empties into the Ottawa to the west of the village. Fitzroy Provincial Park is located nearby. The village has one school located within it, St. Michael's Catholic school. Fitzroy Harbour Public School was closed in 2006. There are also two churches: St Michael's (Roman Catholic) and St. Andrew's (United). St. George's (Anglican) was closed in 2022.

Galetta is a dispersed rural community in West Carleton-March Ward in rural western Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located on the Mississippi River near its mouth in the Ottawa River. Once part of Fitzroy Township and later West Carleton, it is now part of the city of Ottawa. According to the Canada 2011 Census, the population of Galetta's Dissemination Area was 545, which also includes nearby communities Vydon Acres, Marshall Bay and part of Mohr Corners.

The Mississippi River is a tributary of the Ottawa River in Eastern Ontario, Canada which has no relation with the Mississippi River in the United States. It is 200 kilometres (120 mi) in length from its source at Mackavoy Lake, has a drainage area of 4,450 square kilometres (1,720 sq mi), and has a mean discharge of 40 cubic metres per second (1,400 cu ft/s). There are more than 250 lakes in the watershed. Communities along the river include the village of Lanark, the towns of Carleton Place, Mississippi Mills (including towns of Almonte and Pakenham), and Galetta. Here it enters the Ottawa River.

Camp B'nai Brith of Ottawa (Hebrew: מַחֲנֶה בְּנֵי בְּרִית), also known as CBB of Ottawa, is a Jewish summer camp north-west of Ottawa, near Quyon, Quebec. The camp draws campers and staff from across Canada, the United States, Europe and Israel.

The Arnprior Solar Project is a 23.4 MW solar farm located near the town of near Arnprior, Ontario, Canada. It was developed and is owned by EDF EN Canada and is operated by EDF Renewable Services, both units of EDF Energies Nouvelles. Construction began in May 2009 and operation commenced in December 2009. The project consists of 312,000 PV thin film solar panels made by First Solar and mounted on 13,000 fixed-tilt racks in a 200 acres (81 ha) field.

MacLarens Landing is a community in West Carleton-March Ward in Ottawa, Ontario. The area's name is derived from James Maclaren, who opened a mill in nearby Buckingham, Quebec. Ontario MPP Jack MacLaren is a descendant and resides in the area.

Fitzroy is a former incorporated and present day geographic township originally part of Carleton County in eastern Ontario, Canada. Fitzroy was located in the western part of the county, bordered to the northeast by Torbolton Township, to the southeast by Huntley Township, to the southwest by Pakenham Township and to the northwest by the Ottawa River. The township was established in 1823. The first permanent settler is believed to have been Charles Shirreff around 1818. Shirreff founded the settlement of Fitzroy Harbour in 1831. The township was an important centre of the timber trade during the 19th century. In 1974, the township was amalgamated with Huntley and Torbolton to form West Carleton. In 2001, West Carleton became part of the new city of Ottawa. Fitzroy took its name from Sir Charles Augustus FitzRoy, son-in-law to Charles Lennox, 4th Duke of Richmond who was Governor General of British North America from 1818 to 1819. According to the Canada 2016 Census, the Township had a population of 4,413. As of the Canada 2021 Census, this had increased to 4,616.
