Heddesbach

Heiligkreuzsteinach is a town in the district of Rhein-Neckar in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. It is located about 25 km North-East of Heidelberg. In 1293 the community was officially mentioned for the first time. Until 1525 the administration of the town changed several times. Starting with 1525 it became part of the Electoral Palatinate (German: Kurpfalz). With the end of the Electoral Palatinate in 1803 Heiligkreuzsteinach became part of Baden and after the union of Baden and Wurttemberg in 1952 it became part of the new established German State Baden-Württemberg. Currently there are the following urban districts which form the mother community: Heiligkreuzsteinach, Lampenhain, Bärsbach, Vorderheubach, Hinterheubach and Eiterbach. The town council has twelve members and is presided by the mayor. The mayor is elected for eight years without term limitations. However, there is a retirement limit which was recently increased to 71 years. The current mayor of Heiligkreuzsteinach is Ms. Sieglinde Pfahl, who was first elected in 2013. There are two Nursing Homes and one Kindergarten in the village. In addition there are also various cultural and athletic organisations. The town has a normal German Infrastructure which includes an Elementary School (Higher Schools can be attended in the neighborhood), small shops, two doctors, one dentist and several restaurants. Two regional buslines connect Heiligkreuzsteinach with Heidelberg. Among the prominent sons of the village is Herman Lehlbach (1845-1904) who represented New Jersey in the United States House of Representatives from 1885 to 1889. The grandfather of American baseball legend Charlie Gehringer (1903-1992) emigrated from Heiligkreuzsteinach in the 1850s.

Stiefelhöhe is an Odenwald mountain of Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Schönau Abbey (Kloster Schönau) in Schönau in the Odenwald, in the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis in Baden-Württemberg, was a Cistercian monastery founded in 1142 from Eberbach Abbey. The present settlement of Schönau grew up round the monastery. By the end of the 12th century Schönau was already in use as a burial place of the Staufen family: in 1195 Conrad of Hohenstaufen, Count Palatine of the Rhine, was buried here, as were his son of the same name, probably in 1186, and both his wives. Adolf, Count Palatine of the Rhine (d. 1327), Rupert II, Elector Palatine (d. 1398) and other members of the family were also buried here. Conrad II, Bishop of Hildesheim, died here and was presumably also buried here. In the 14th century Schönau was also the burial place of the Counts of Erbach. During the Reformation the abbey was dissolved, in 1558. The empty buildings were occupied in 1562 by Huguenot refugees from Wallonia, to whom Schönau gave rights of residence.

Schönau is a city with approximately 4400 inhabitants in the district of Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated in the Odenwald hills, 10 km northeast of Heidelberg. Schönau Abbey is located here.

Vorderheubach is a district of the Heiligkreuzsteinach municipality in Odenwald. The place is with Lampenhain, Bärsbach, Hilsenhain and the small farm Hinerheubach district Lampenhain. The place belonged to Lampenhain community until 31 December 1974, and was then combined with Heiligkreuzsteinach. In the village live around 200 inhabitants.

The Hardberg transmitter is a transmission tower owned by the Hessischer Rundfunk. It is located on the 593 meters (1,945 ft) high Hardberg mountain on the south tip of Hesse. It is used for radio and formerly TV broadcasting. The transmitter was first constructed in 1951 as a steel tube pylon. This was replaced in 1988 by a 135 meters high guyed lattice tower.

It is home to the Hardberg Transmission Tower, a 135-metre-high free-standing lattice tower on the Hardberg mountain in Germany at 49°32′28″N 8°48′17″E. The Hardberg Transmission Tower is 135 metres high, weighs 130 tons and stands on an area of 12 * 12 metres.

Darsberg is a small village next to and part of Neckarsteinach. The place is famous for its carnival tradition of rolling a firewheel down a hill.

Abtsteinach is a municipality in the Bergstraße district in Hesse, Germany. The municipality calls itself “The Gateway to the Überwald”.

Wilhelmsfeld is a municipality in the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis of Baden-Württemberg in Germany.

Teltschik Tower is a 41-metre-high observation tower built of wood in Wilhelmsfeld, Germany. The tower was built by Walter Teltschik, a citizen of Wilhelmsfeld, in remembrance of his origins in the Kuhländchen near Brno, a part of the former Sudetenland (modern-day Czech Republic). From the top of the tower there is an excellent view over the hills of the Odenwald (mountainous region in southern Germany) and as well to the Rhine Valley near Mannheim and the Black Forest.

The Daumberg is an extinct volcano in the Odenwald mountain range with an altitude of 462 m (1,516 ft). The hill lies south of the district of Trösel in the municipality of Gorxheimtal near the border to Wünsch-Michelbach and thus on the border between Hesse and Baden-Württemberg. On the Daumberg, many Christmas trees are cultivated in several plantations. The northern slope of the mountain is used for snow skiing in the winter and in the summer. In addition, there have also been grass skiing championships held there.
