Aarberg District

Seeland District in the Canton of Bern was created on 1 January 2010. It is part of the Seeland administrative region. It contains 42 municipalities with an area of 334.14 km2 (129.01 sq mi) and a population (as of 2020) of 76,052.

Aarberg is a historic town and a municipality in the Seeland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. Aarberg lies 20 kilometers from Bern above the river Aare. With an area of 7.93 km2 (3.06 sq mi), Aarberg borders Bargen, Kappelen, Lyss, Radelfingen and Seedorf. Aarberg is not to be confused with Aarburg in Aargau or with Aarbergen in Germany. The town was once located on an island with the Aare and Little Aare (Kleine Aare) flowing around it. The old town grew up around the edge of the island with a large open plaza in the middle. In addition to the old town, Aarberg also includes the new outer quarter, and the villages of Spins, Mühletal and Grafenmoos. The official language of Aarberg is (the Swiss variety of Standard) German, but the main spoken language is the local variant of the Alemannic Swiss German dialect.

Niederried bei Kallnach is a former municipality in the Seeland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. To the southeast of the municipality lies the Niederried reservoir. It is a refuge of international importance for water and wading birds. The municipality of Niederried bei Kallnach merged on 1 January 2013 into Kallnach.

Lobsigensee is a lake at Lobsigen in Seedorf, Berne, Switzerland. Its surface area is 1.73 ha (4.3 acres). On the northwestern shore there are remains of a neolithic settlement that is now part of the Prehistoric Pile dwellings around the Alps, an UNESCO World Heritage Site.The Lobsigensee UNESCO site is on the southwestern shore of the lake. Based on several finds, the site has been dated to the second half of the 4th millennium BC. The first excavation was carried out in 1908, followed by test digs in 1924 and 1953. Starting in the 1950s private collectors found a number of artifacts in Lobsigensee. In 2005 and 2007 the site was explored again. The recent excavations discovered a burnt layer that indicated that at least one of the settlements was destroyed by a fire. The 2005 test borings identified numerous huts or houses.

Kappelen (French: Chapelle) is a municipality in the Seeland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Kallnach (French: Chouchignies) is a municipality in the Seeland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. On 1 January 2019 the former municipality of Golaten merged into the municipality of Kallnach.
