Homewood is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 19,463 at the 2020 census.The village sits just a few miles south of Chicago proper. It is bordered by Chicago Heights and Flossmoor to the south, Hazel Crest to the west, East Hazel Crest and Harvey to the north, Glenwood to the east, and South Holland to the northeast.

The station is officially located at Park Avenue and 174th Street, near the Calumet Country Club, however the actual location is on Wood Street south of 174th Street. Park Avenue terminates at 171st Street. Calumet is 22.8 miles (36.7 km) from Millennium Station, the northern terminus of the Metra Electric Line. Flossmoor is 24.93 miles (40.12 km) from Millennium Station, the northern terminus of the Metra Electric Line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Flossmoor is located in zone E. As of 2018, Flossmoor is the 60th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 859 weekday boardings. The station is on a solid-fill elevated structure and consists of a 1906-built Illinois Central Railroad building next to one island platform which serves the Metra Electric Line's two tracks. There is no ticket agent at Flossmoor, but tickets may be purchased from a vending machine in the waiting room. The old station house is used as a local restaurant and beer brewery, and contains an ice cream shop for kids that operates out of a former Illinois Central Railroad caboose.

Flossmoor () is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,704 at the 2020 census. Flossmoor is approximately 24 miles south of The Loop/Downtown Chicago. It is closely tied to neighboring Homewood, sharing a high school and park district.

Flossmoor Golf Club is a private country club located in Bloom Township, Cook County, just outside the village limits of Flossmoor, Illinois. Founded in 1899 as Homewood Country Club and designed by Herbert J. Tweedie, its name was later changed to Flossmoor.The club hosted the PGA Championship in 1920, which Jock Hutchison won. Flossmoor also was host to the 1923 U.S. Amateur Championship. Bobby Jones held the course record for over 60 years. Jones often played Midwest courses during World War II in an attempt to help raise money for the American Red Cross. Jones's feat occurred after making a triple bogey, and then following it up with eight consecutive 3's for a course record of 66. This record held until 1996, when a member, Mark Egge, broke it with a 65.

The 1920 PGA Championship was the third PGA Championship, which is now considered one of golf's major championships. It was held August 17–21 at the Flossmoor Country Club outside Flossmoor, Illinois, a suburb south of Chicago. The field of 32 qualified through sectional tournaments. They competed in 36-hole match play rounds in a single-elimination tournament. Harry Hampton made a surprising run by winning three consecutive matches before finally succumbing to Jock Hutchison in a semi-final match 4 and 3. James Douglas Edgar won the other semi-final over George McLean by a resounding 8 and 7 margin. Hutchison defeated Edgar, 1 up, in the final.Two-time defending champion Jim Barnes lost in the second round to Clarence Hackney, 5 and 4.

WHFH 88.5 FM is an American FM non-profit non-commercial educational high school radio station licensed by the Federal Communications Commission to serve the community of and areas surrounding Flossmoor, Illinois. (approx. 2.4 million people) The station is owned and operated by Homewood-Flossmoor High School. Flossmoor is located about 20 miles (32 km) south of Chicago. The station operates 24/7, switching to virtual management during the Covid-19 pandemic and allowing for the station to run beyond the former cutoff time of 6 pm on Friday. WHFH covers all home Varsity football games. There is also extra programming (i.e. school sports games and local events). The program also has a remote capability, allowing students to go live on the air anywhere in the world. Former WHFH hosts have gone on to hold careers in TV and radio both locally and nationally, such as Jason Benetti, Chuck Garfien, Laurence Holmes and Randy Merkin.

The Grande Prairie Public Library serves the communities of Hazel Crest, Illinois, and Country Club Hills, Illinois. It is located at 3479 W. 183rd Street in Hazel Crest, in the south suburbs of Chicago. The library is a member of the Metropolitan Library System.
