Shocks Mills Bridge carries tracks of the Norfolk Southern Railway (formerly the Atglen and Susquehanna Branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad) over the Susquehanna River between Marietta, Pennsylvania and Wago Junction, Pennsylvania.

The Codorus Navigation Company, based in York in south-central Pennsylvania, was formed in 1829 to make a navigable waterway along Codorus Creek from York, Pennsylvania, to the Susquehanna River, a distance of 11 miles (18 km). Plans called for 3 miles (4.8 km) of canal, 8 miles (12.9 km) of slack-water pools, 10 dams, and 13 locks with an average lift of about 7 feet (2.1 m).The first 3 miles (4.8 km) of the system were finished in 1832, allowing boats named Codorus and Pioneer to run passenger excursions between York and Barnitz's Springs. After the entire system was opened to boats, arks, and rafts in 1833, the first ark to reach York carried 40,000 feet (12,192 m) of lumber and 100 passengers, and later arrivals brought such cargo as stone, coal, and shingles.Plans originally included a second canal from the mouth of Codorus Creek along the Susquehanna to calm water above Chestnut Ripples. This would have made entrance into the Codorus system easier for craft coming down the river, but the extension canal, though started, was never finished. Competition from the York and Maryland Railroad, which connected York to Baltimore by 1838, and the Wrightsville, York and Gettysburg Railroad, which began operations in 1840, put the Codorus canal out of business by about 1850.Codorus Navigation was one of several privately funded canals such as the Union Canal that operated in Pennsylvania during the same era as the Pennsylvania Canal. Though the canal fell into disuse in the middle of the 19th century, parts of its graded towpath, once used by the mules that pulled the boats, are becoming part of a rail trail along Codorus Creek between York and John Rudy County Park. The trail of 5.5 miles (8.9 km), a northern extension of Heritage Rail Trail County Park, will join 42 miles (68 km) of existing trail that begins in Ashland, Maryland, and ends in York. Construction began on the trail extension in 2006.

WROZ (101.3 MHz) is a non-commercial FM radio station licensed to Lancaster and serving South Central Pennsylvania. The station is owned and operated by the Educational Media Foundation and carries its Air1 Christian worship music radio format. WROZ's studios and offices were formerly located off Route 283 at 1996 Auction Road in Manheim. WROZ's transmitter tower is co-located with former sister station WGAL-TV. It is off Tower Road in Hellam Township, York County at (40°02′4.0″N 76°37′7.0″W).

Hellam Township is a township in York County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,921 at the 2020 census. Founded in 1739, it was the first township in the area, and it originally included the entirety of modern York and Adams counties. Fire department services are provided jointly by the Hallam and Wrightsville fire departments, located in the boroughs of Hallam and Wrightsville.

Codorus Forge and Furnace Historic District, also known as Hellem (Hellam) Forge, is a historic iron forge and national historic district located at Hellam Township in York County, Pennsylvania. The district includes four contributing buildings, one contributing site, and one contributing structure. The contributing buildings are the iron furnace (c. 1836), charcoal house (c. 1836), ruins of works' houses (c. 1836), ironmaster's house and furnace office (c. 1780), privy, forge (1800), and ruins of unknown structures. The furnace measures approximately 30 feet square at the base and 12 feet high. The ironmaster's house is a 2 1/2-story, stuccoed stone building, nine bays wide and one room deep. The Hellem (Hellam) Forge was first established in 1765.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Locust Grove, also known as the Haldeman Mansion, is a historic home located at Conoy Township in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It was built about 1782, and is a large, two-story, four-bay by two-bay stone dwelling overlooking the Susquehanna River. It has a massive central chimney Also on the property is a rectangular, two-story stone building with a hipped gable roof.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

The Seven Gates of Hell is a modern urban legend regarding locations in York County, Pennsylvania. Two versions of the legend exist, one involving a burnt insane asylum and the other an eccentric doctor. Both agree that there are seven gates in a wooded area of Hellam Township, Pennsylvania, and that anyone who passes through all seven goes straight to Hell. The location in question never housed an institution; the aforementioned doctor only constructed one gate, to keep out trespassers. Despite the popularity of this as a tourist destination, the property is privately held; visitors may be charged with trespassing as a result.

Conoy Creek is an 11.2-mile-long (18.0 km) tributary of the Susquehanna River in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The headwaters of the creek pass through the borough of Elizabethtown, heading southwest. Conoy Creek joins the Susquehanna River at Bainbridge.

WARM-FM (103.3 MHz) is a commercial radio station licensed to serve York, Pennsylvania. It is owned and operated by Cumulus Media through licensee Radio License Holding SRC LLC and airs an adult contemporary music format, using the slogan "Today's Hits and Yesterday's Favorites". For much of November and December, it switches to Christmas music. Syndicated programming on WARM-FM includes The John Tesh Radio Show on weeknights, both the 1980s and 1990s versions of Backtrax USA on Saturday nights, and Your Weekend with Jim Brickman Sunday mornings. WARM-FM's radio studios and offices are on Susquehanna Plaza Drive off US Route 30 in York, halfway between downtown York and Lancaster. The transmitter is nearby, off Brummer Lane in Hellam Township.

Maytown is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,824 at the 2010 census.

Grove Mansion, also known as the Green, earlier Townsend, Residence is a historic home located at Maytown in East Donegal Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It was built between 1882 and 1887, and is a three-story, three bay by four bay brick dwelling in the Second Empire style. It features a "bell cast" mansard roof with patterned red and gray slate. Also on the property are a contributing pony house and carriage house, both topped with elaborate cupolas.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Black Gut (known locally as "The Gut") is a 1.4-mile-long (2.3 km) distributary connecting the Susquehanna River to Hartman Run in York County, Pennsylvania in the United States. It was formerly a southeast flowing branch of the Conewago Creek bifurcation where it had once separated Brunner and Lowe's Island from mainland York County in East Manchester Township, joining the Susquehanna at the village of Saginaw. This delta no longer exists due to expansion of the Brunner Island Steam Electric Station. Another branch, known as the River Gut, ran 0.5 miles (0.80 km) from the gut to the Susquehanna. This branch had separated Brunner and Lowe's Island before it was eventually filled in, joining both islands into one.
