Kinnickinnic River (St. Croix River tributary)

Kinnickinnic State Park is a 1,242-acre (503 ha) Wisconsin state park in which the Kinnickinnic River, locally known as Kinni River, joins the St. Croix River. The mouth of the Kinnickinnic River forms a sandy delta upon which boaters can picnic and camp.

Basswood Grove is an unincorporated community in Denmark Township, Washington County, Minnesota, United States. The community is located along Washington County Road 21 (St. Croix Trail South) near 80th Street South and 87th Street South. Nearby places include Cottage Grove, Afton, and Hastings.

Afton Alps is a ski area, which hosts a collection of ski and snowboard trails, located along the St. Croix River in the northeast corner of Denmark Township, Washington County, south of Afton, Minnesota in the United States. There are nearly 300 acres (1.2 km2) skiable at Afton Alps. The ski hill has 350 feet (110 m) of vertical drop. The Alps utilizes an extensive snowmaking system for maintaining the slopes during the winter months. There are a total of 36 trails with 17 chairlifts, two conveyor lifts, and a double-sided rope tow in the Landing Zone Terrain Park. There are five chalets, including the Meadows Chalet, the Highlands Chalet, the Alpine Chalet, Landing Zone (also has a Yurt) and the Alps Chalet (Main Chalet). Afton Alps' winter season runs mid-November through mid-March. On December 6, 2012 it was announced that Afton Alps has been sold to Vail Resorts of Colorado.

Afton State Park is a state park of Minnesota, USA, on the St. Croix River in Washington County. Its hiking trails offer views of the river, rolling glacial moraine, and bluffland it preserves. It is a popular place for birdwatching, picnics, camping, and other typical outdoor recreational activities. To deter overuse of a state park only 20 miles (32 km) from downtown St. Paul, there is no vehicle access to the camping area or swimming beach. The park is located approximately five miles (8 km) south of the town of Afton, Minnesota. The park surrounds the unaffiliated Afton Alps ski area on three sides. The name "Afton" was given to this area by its settlers as a reference to the Robert Burns poem "Afton Water", which is about the River Afton in Scotland.

Saint Croix Bluffs Regional Park is a 579-acre park in Washington County, Minnesota. Located just outside Denmark Township on the Saint Croix River, the park is the southernmost public park on the Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway. St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park on St. Croix Trail opened in 1996 on a site purchased and developed in the 1940s by architect Thomas Ellerbe, later the Control Data Corporation employee park. It is one of seven regional parks in Washington County. The park has rolling prairies, wooded ravines, and scenic bluffs. It is managed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Denmark Township is a township in Washington County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,348 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated community of Basswood Grove is located within Denmark Township. Denmark Township was organized in 1858.

The Cushing Hotel is a historic hotel in Afton, Minnesota, United States, established in 1867 to cater to railroad workers, lumbermen, and travelers. The hotel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985 for its local significance in the theme of commerce. It was nominated for exemplifying the commercial lodging common to mid-19th-century river towns. It remains in business as the Afton House Inn.

Afton ( AF-tən) is a city in Washington County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,886 at the 2010 United States Census. It lies on a small bay where Valley Creek empties into the St. Croix River, several miles north of its confluence with the Mississippi River. Afton is well known for Afton Alps, the largest ski and snowboard area in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. It is home to Afton State Park on the St. Croix River. Due to these two destinations and its quaint small-town appearance in a major metropolitan area, Afton receives a fair amount of local tourism in the form of day trips. The 2018 US Winter Olympic Gold Medalist cross-country skier Jessie Diggins is from Afton.

Prescott was home to the mother house of the Franciscan Servants of Jesus. The town was first settled by (and named for) Philander Prescott, who opened a trading post there in 1839.
