Kilbeggan

Kilbeggan Distillery (formerly Brusna Distillery and Locke's Distillery) is an Irish whiskey distillery situated on the River Brosna in Kilbeggan, County Westmeath, Ireland. Founded in 1757 the distillery is owned by Suntory Global Spirits, an subsidiary of Suntory Holdings of Osaka, Japan. A small pot still distillery, a copy of the licence to distil dated from 1757 which can be seen in the distillery. Similar to many Irish distilleries, Kilbeggan endured financial difficulties during the early 20th century, and ceased operations in 1957. However, the licence was maintained and the distillery was later refurbished, with distilling recommencing on-site in 2007. Noted devotees of the distillery's whiskeys include British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, and Myles na gCopaleen, the Irish playwright.

Moycashel (Irish: Maigh Chaisil), previously the barony of Rossaughe, and before that, Delamares country, is a barony in south County Westmeath, in Ireland. It was formed by 1542. It is bordered by three other baronies: Clonlonan to the west, Rathconrath to the north, Moyashel and Magheradernon to the north-east and Fartullagh to the west. Durrow (Irish: Darú, meaning "plain of the oaks") is a small rural village and townland in County Offaly, Ireland. Durrow is located on the N52 off the N6 road between Kilbeggan (in County Westmeath) and Tullamore (in County Offaly). Durrow Abbey, surrounded by woods, is one of Ireland's most important early Christian monasteries founded by Saint Colmcille. Some mistakenly assign County Laois as the location of this particular monastic settlement due to the presence of a larger town in Laois called Durrow.

Durrow Abbey is a historic site in Durrow, County Offaly in Ireland. It is located off the N52 some 5 miles from Tullamore. Largely undisturbed, the site is an early medieval monastic complex of ecclesiastical and secular monuments, visible and sub-surface. The extant monuments at the site include a large ecclesiastical enclosure, five Early Christian grave slabs, a fine mid-ninth century high cross, a fragment of a cross shaft, a complete cross-head (housed in the National Museum of Ireland) and cross base, a holy well and other extensive archaeological features. Hugh de Lacy, Lord of Meath built a motte for the Abbey in 1180, and he was killed at the Abbey in 1186 by an Irishman.

Castletownkindalen is one of 8 civil parishes in the barony of Moycashel in the Province of Leinster. The civil parish covers 11,368.2 acres (46.005 km2). Rahugh or Ráith Aeda Meic Bric is an early Christian site founded by Áed mac Bricc (also referred to as Saint Hugh of Rahugh) in the 6th century, inside a ráth or ringfort. The site, located about 8 km north of Tullamore along the L1024. Rahugh consists of one pub (The Hazel Bar and Lounge), a Catholic church, local community centre, a primary school and several small -medium-sized enterprises such as Dunnes Workshop and Scally Precast. Rahugh also contains the remains of an ancient Christian monastery site and graveyard, a holy well and a so-called headache stone. Rahugh (Irish: Ráth Aodha) is a civil parish in County Westmeath, Ireland. It is located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) south–south–west of Mullingar. Rahugh is one of 8 civil parishes in the barony of Moycashel in the Province of Leinster. The civil parish covers 4,987.5 acres (20.184 km2). Middleton Park House is a mid 19th-century country house in Castletown-Geoghegan, County Westmeath It stands on a gentle hill on a kilometre-long avenue looking towards Lough Ennell. It is a detached six-bay two-storey building with the central two bays slightly projecting from the façade. It has a slate roof and a projecting single-storey limestone Ionic entrance portico. Other features of the house are its under-floor heating system, stone bifurcated staircase leading to the Gallery Landing and three-storey-high atrium lantern located in the Main Hall. At one end of the house is a cast-iron conservatory, one of only a few Richard Turner conservatories to be found in Ireland. After many years of disrepair, the house was restored in mid-2007 and opened to the public as a commercial entity specialising in corporate events and private weddings and as a restaurant. This venture closed in 2016, with the house rapidly falling back in to disrepair. Restoration work to return it to use as family home began in 2019 and has been featured on an RTÉ TV series Great House Revival.
