Cumbarjua

The Cumbarjua Canal is a distributary channel formed by the merger of the Mandovi and Zuari rivers in Goa, India. Its flow has led to the formation of river deltas; the most prominent of them are Ilhas de Goa, Cumbarjua and St Estevam. The shallow mangroves of the waterbody is the natural habitat of the Indian Mugger crocodile as well as exotic birds and flying fish. Wildlife boating tours are now a common tourist activity.

Gandaulim is a village located on the western bank of the Cumbarjua Canal, within Ilhas in the state of Goa, India. Some Croatian writers have claimed that it was a colonial outpost of the Republic of Ragusa.

Cumbarjua Assembly constituency is one of the 40 Goa Legislative Assembly constituencies of the state of Goa in southern India. Cumbarjua is also one of the 20 constituencies falling under North Goa Lok Sabha constituency.

Marcel, also known as Mashel, is a village-turned-census town in the Ponda Sub-District, North Goa in the state of Goa, India. It is located in the Novas Conquistas region of the state.

St Estevam (Santo Estêvão) is an estuarine islet in the Tiswadi taluka, Goa state, India. St Estevam is commonly referred as Jūvã (Isle) and has earned the monicker Šākêchô Jūvõ—the island of vegetables—famed for its long, seven-ridged, light green ladyfingers. Therefore, the people of Jūvã came to be nicknamed bhennddem. The island is named after St. Stephen. It is one of Goa's most prosperous villages, often quoted by ex-Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane for having a high per capita income. It is the smallest of six major islands within the Mandovi, the others being: Ilha de Goa Chorão Divar Cumbarjua Vanxim Several other small mangrove islets and sand banks.

Orgao is a village in Ponda taluka, North Goa district in the Indian state of Goa. For the purposes of the census, it is considered a "Census Town". It is however part of the Orgao-Tivrem Village Panchayat. As of the 2011 census, Orgao was found to have an area of 3.50 square kilometres, with a total of 1,156 households, and a population of 4,602 persons, comprising 2,264 males and 2,338 females. The zero-to-six age group population comprised 383 children, of these 207 were males and 176 females.

Candola is a village and census town in Ponda Sub-District, North Goa district in the state of Goa, India. It is located in the Novas Conquistas region of the state.

Fort Santo Estevão (Fortaleza de Santo Estevão in Portuguese) is a military structure erected in Santo Estevão Island, in Goa, by the Portuguese. Built on the highest point of Santo Estevão Island, it was originally built as a watchtower to guard the Mandovi River, in 1550. It was the easternmost defensive structure in the Velhas Conquistas. After the first Maratha incursions against Goa, in 1666-1668, The structure was expanded into a small fort. In 1683, the Marathas attacked Goa and managed to breach into the island of Santo Estevão because the corps of auxiliaries tasked with defending it fled from their enemy. The Marathas captured the fort and massacred its garrison. After the annexation of the Novas Conquistas, the fort lost its military purpose. It was abandoned in 1811 by decree of the Viceroy of India Dom Bernardo José Maria da Silveira e Lorena. Restoration works were undertaken on the fort in 2012.

Tivrem is a village in the Ponda taluka (sub-district) of Goa, India.

The Chapel of Our Lady of the Mount is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to the Virgin Mary in Old Goa, India. It is one of the oldest churches in the city and was built between 1510 and 1519. The construction of the church was ordered by Afonso de Albuquerque, the governor of Portuguese India, immediately after the Portuguese conquest of Goa in 1510. The chapel was completed in 1519. The chapel is located on a hill overlooking the Mandovi river, and is not easily accessible. It was built using laterite stone and the architectural style is Baroque with Mannerist influences. Every year in November, the chapel courtyard plays host to the popular Monte Music Festival.Until 2001, the chapel was in ruins. A restoration project was then planned and funded by the Fundação Oriente, an organisation that maintains cultural links of Goa and Damaon with Portugal, in association with the state government.

The Fort of São Tiago of Banastarim in India, also known as Fort St. James Banastarim or Benastari Castle, is located at on the right bank of Cumbarjua Canal, on the eastern tip of Old Goa, North Goa district in the state of Goa on the west coast of India.
