Columbus Regional Health (CRH) is a regional health care system located in Columbus, Indiana. The health system's primary location, Columbus Regional Hospital, was founded as Bartholomew County Hospital in 1917 and later renamed in 1992. In the fall of 2011, the organization introduced Columbus Regional Health as the new name for the hospital and health system. Columbus Regional Health serves a 10-county region in southeastern Indiana. The hospital has 1,650 employees and over 225 physicians providing emergency and surgical services and comprehensive care in numerous specialty areas. 48th Vice president of United States Mike Pence was born in Bartholomew County Hospital on 7 June 1959

Hamilton Community Center & Ice Arena, formerly named Hamilton Ice Arena, is a year-round indoor arena and recreational sport facility in Columbus, Indiana. It features one NHL size sheet of ice for hockey, figure skating, speed skating, broomball, and open skating and one studio size sheet of ice, totalling 17,000 square feet (1,600 m2) of ice. Originally an outdoor facility, Hamilton Ice Arena was designed by Harry Weese and built in 1958. The building is chalet style, with coarse materials and a triple-beamed roof. In 1975, a continuation of the structures was added to enclose and expand the skating area to a regulation size hockey rink and adjoining practice area. Skaters from beginners to competitive enjoy this top-notch facility. In 2015, Hamilton was renovated to restore some of the original components in a $2.8 million project.Hamilton Community Center & Ice Arena is currently the home rink for the Columbus Icemen high school hockey team and the Columbus Flames youth hockey teams. Additionally, Lincoln Center Skate Club, Full Throttle Speedskating, Columbus Broomball Association, and Columbus Parks and Recreation use the facility. Hockey Hall of Fame inductees Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, and Bobby Hull have all made visits to Hamilton.

The Mabel McDowell Adult Education Center (formerly the Mabel McDowell Elementary School) is an adult education center of the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation occupying a historic building in Columbus, Indiana. The building, built in 1960, is a major early work of architect John Carl Warnecke. It was converted to an adult education center in 1982. In 2001, the building was designated by the National Park Service as a National Historic Landmark because of its architecture. In its application to the National Park Service for protected status, the building is described as "significant as an early example of modern architecture in Columbus, and as an important example of the contextual work of John Carl Warnecke, a leading architect of the twentieth century." The building is designed as a series of pods, connected by covered and trellised walkways. The major spaces in each pod (classrooms and other common spaces) are covered by individual pyramidal roof sections. The construction is steel framing on concrete slabs, with the walls finished in steel-clad glass and brick. Warnecke's design for McDowell attempted to combine functionality with open space reminiscent of an Indiana farm landscape. In his concept for McDowell, Warnecke said a "dominant characteristic of southern Indiana is the flat terrain, a horizontal theme accentuated by tall Victorian houses, barns, and silos, with picturesque groves of trees. The school design is based on the creation of similar grouping of masses and spaces in a scheme which focuses the school group into its own controlled environment, yet extends it outward to the community." Warnecke also designed the John F. Kennedy grave at Arlington National Cemetery and the Hawaii State Capitol building.

The relatively small city has provided a unique place for noted Modern architecture and public art, commissioning numerous works since the mid-20th century; the annual program Exhibit Columbus celebrates this legacy. Located about 40 mi (64 km) south of Indianapolis, on the east fork of the White River, it is the state's 20th-largest city. It is the principal city of the Columbus, Indiana metropolitan statistical area, which encompasses all of Bartholomew County. Columbus is the birthplace of former Indiana Governor and former Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence. National Geographic Traveler ranked Columbus 11th on its historic destinations list in late 2008, describing the city as "authentic, unique, and unspoiled." Columbus won the national contest "America in Bloom" in 2006, and in 2004 it was named as one of "The Ten Most Playful Towns" by Nick Jr. Family Magazine. In the July 2005 edition of GQ magazine, Columbus was named as one of the "62 Reasons to Love Your Country". Columbus is the headquarters of the engine company Cummins, Inc.

The McKinley School, also known as North Side School, is a historic school building located at Seventeenth St. and Home Ave., in Columbus, Indiana. It was designed by architect Charles Franklin Sparrell and built in 1892. It is a 2+1⁄2-story, five bay, Richardsonian Romanesque style red brick building with a limestone base and hipped roof. It measures 73 feet wide and 38 feet deep. An addition was erected in 1942, and measures approximately 127 feet wide and 38 feet deep.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Bartholomew County Annex building, which is also known as the State Street School, was designed by architect Norman Hill and completed in 1928. The building stands on the northwest corner of State and Pence streets in Columbus, Indiana. From 1928 to the early 1970s it served as an elementary school in the neighborhood of East Columbus under the ownership of Bartholomew County. In the mid 1970s the building began to be used as the County Annex. Today the building houses the Purdue University Extension office, the Bartholomew County Health Department’s nursing program and the Women, Infants and Children program. In late 2013 the County paid an Indianapolis-based engineering and architectural firm, DLZ Indiana Inc., to study the cost of rehabilitating the building.

The International School of Columbus (ISC) was a free, public, Charter school located in Columbus, Indiana. It was founded in 2009. It was an International Baccalaureate World School. It taught grades 7−12. The International School of Columbus was open to any students living in Indiana.The International School of Columbus is a college prep school. It offers the International Baccalaureate that students can choose to go for in their 11th and 12th grade years. The International School of Columbus excels in Science Olympiad each year. The International School of Columbus had its first graduation in 2013.

Columbus North High School (CNHS) is one of the public high schools located in Columbus, Indiana. It is part of the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC). Columbus North High School was previously known as Columbus High School. It was renamed Columbus North High School in 1973 upon the founding of Columbus East High School.

Columbus Historic District is a national historic district located at Columbus, Bartholomew County, Indiana. It encompasses 574 contributing buildings and 1 contributing sites in the central business district and surrounding residential areas of Columbus. It was developed between about 1850 and 1930, and includes notable examples of Federal and Italianate style architecture. A number of commercial buildings feature locally manufactured cast iron and pressed metal components. Located in the district are the separately listed Bartholomew County Courthouse, Columbus City Hall, and First Christian Church. Other notable buildings include the First National Bank, The Crump Theatre (1889), Reo Theater, Ulrich Bakery (c. 1850), Samuel Harris House (1853), Keller House (1860), Old Post Office (1910), Franklin Building (c. 1870), Gent Mill (c. 1875), First United Presbyterian Church (1871-1885), Irwin Block (c. 1890), Irwin Home and Gardens (1864, 1910), and St. Batholomew's Roman Catholic Church (1891).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Columbus Christian School is a private, Christian school in Columbus, Indiana. Established in 1976, Columbus Christian School is an inter-denominational private school offering Christian education to children from Preschool through the twelfth grade. CCS believes God has specifically gifted each child and they desire to come alongside parents in the purposeful discipleship of their children through Christ-centered academics, promoting athletic excellence and giving students opportunities to develop gifts through the arts. The Cleo Rogers Memorial Library, also known as the Main Library, is the flagship library of the Bartholomew County Public Library system. It includes a branch in Hope, Indiana, and a bookmobile that serves the county. The building was designed by I. M. Pei & Partners and constructed by Dunlap & Company, completed in 1969, and dedicated in 1971. It is notable for its design of red brick with concrete details and its Library Plaza, an urban space punctuated by the sculpture, "Large Arch" by Henry Moore. It is named for Cleo Rogers (1905-1964) who was the county librarian for 28 years and assistant librarian for nine years.

Columbus East High School (CEHS) is one of three high schools in Columbus, Indiana. East is a member of the Hoosier Hills Conference in athletics and has a total of 5 IHSAA state championships. It was founded in 1972 due to the growing educational demands of the community. As the population of the community rose, Columbus High School could not support all school age students. Columbus East was constructed and Columbus High School became Columbus North High School. The principal of Columbus East is Mark Newell.
