Bethany Academy

Normandale Community College is a public community college in Bloomington, Minnesota. The college serves primarily the communities of the southwestern portion of the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area. Established in 1968 as Normandale State Junior College with an initial enrollment of 1,358 students; today Normandale annually enrolls more than 14,000 students. Normandale is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.

Thomas Jefferson High School, or simply Jefferson High School, is one of the two high schools in Bloomington, Minnesota, United States Independent School District No. 271. It is located at 102nd Street and France Avenue on the suburb's southwest side, and is part of the Bloomington Public Schools district. About 1,600 students attend in grades 9 through 12. The mascot is a Jaguar. Jefferson was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the US Department of Education in 2009.

Bloomington is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States, on the north bank of the Minnesota River, above its confluence with the Mississippi River, 10 miles (16 km) south of downtown Minneapolis. At the 2020 census, the city's population was 89,987, making it Minnesota's fourth-largest city. Bloomington was established as a post–World War II housing boom suburb connected to Minneapolis's urban street grid, and is serviced by two major freeways: Interstate 35W and Interstate 494. Large-scale commercial development is concentrated along the I-494 corridor. Besides an extensive city park system, with over 1,000 square feet (93 m2) of parkland per capita, Bloomington is also home to Hyland Lake Park Reserve in the west and Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge in the southeast. Bloomington has more jobs per capita than either Minneapolis or Saint Paul, due in part to the United States' largest enclosed shopping center, the Mall of America. The headquarters of Ceridian, Donaldson Company, HealthPartners, and Toro, and major operations of Pearson, General Dynamics, Seagate Technologies, Express Scripts and Dairy Queen are also based in the city. The city was named after Bloomington, Illinois.

In 1918, Bloomington, Minnesota opened its first secondary school, Bloomington High School at 10025 Penn Ave. S., the school remaining at this location until a new building opened in the fall of 1957. The new Bloomington High School at (8900 Queen Ave. S., Bloomington MN 55431) with the adjacent Bloomington Stadium, was renamed Abraham Lincoln Senior High School in 1965 when a second high school, John F. Kennedy Senior High School opened. The original location, then known as the "annex", served as the tenth grade school for 1000 sophomores prior to the second high school. Robert Vinatieri was the tenth grade principal. The school's mascot of Bloomington HS and Lincoln HS was the Bears. School colors were green and white, with gold. The school was a member of the Lake Conference from 1957 to 1982, preceded by membership in the Minnesota Valley Conference. Principals of the school were P. Arthur Hoblit, Dr. Raymond Hanson and Dr. Kent O. Stever. Hubert Olson and Fred Atkinson served as Superintendent of Schools during the 1950s and 1960s to guide the school district to exceptional success. Additional high schools. John F. Kennedy Senior High School opened in the fall of 1965. Thomas Jefferson Senior High School opened in 1970. Due to declining enrollments in the late 1970s, Lincoln closed in 1982. Kennedy and Jefferson continue to play their home football games at Bloomington Stadium adjacent to the former Lincoln site.

Mindquest (1995–2003) was the first online public high school in the United States. It operated through the Bloomington Public Schools in Bloomington, Minnesota, and was created in 1995 by Kevin Byrne within the South Hennepin Adult Programs in Education (SHAPE), a program started in 1978 for adult and alternative school within the Bloomington Public Schools. Mindquest operated until the end of 2003, when the Bloomington Schools closed it in favor of a regional distance learning program.

Rasmussen University is a private for-profit university with multiple locations throughout the United States. It offers associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees as well as certificates and diplomas in career-focused areas at 23 campuses in Minnesota, Illinois, North Dakota, Florida, Wisconsin, and Kansas with many programs offered online.Presently, the school has more than 100,000 graduates.

Hyland Hills Ski Area is a ski area in Bloomington, Minnesota, United States, just south of Minneapolis. It is owned and operated by Three Rivers Park District. As a popular destination located near the Mall of America, Hyland receives 160,000 visitors per year. While Minnesota's winters are cold, the average snowfall is low for a ski area (less than 60 in.), due to this, there is often use of Artificial snow to help maintain the viability of the slopes. In 2016 the chalet underwent a $13.3 million renovation that more than doubled the size of the previous. The new chalet is 36,000 square feet, and includes a gear shop, rentals, and a restaurant. The chalet is also open to hosting private events. Their rope tow, and terrain park are considered by many to be world-class.

The 8500 Tower is a 24-story high-rise office skyscraper in the city of Bloomington, Minnesota. It stands at a height of 381 feet, making it the 26th-tallest building in the state of Minnesota. It is also the tallest building in Bloomington, as well as in all of the suburban Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The building is part of the Normandale Lake Office Park, a five-building office complex located on the north end of Normandale Lake. The complex is considered to be at the center of "downtown" Bloomington - the business district that runs along the southern side of Interstate 494.The building, along with the rest of Normandale Lake Office Park, was owned by Equity Group Investments from 2012 to 2014, when it was sold to MetLife. The sale was speculated to be the largest in the history of the Twin Cities metropolitan area, though an exact price was not publicly disclosed. In 2019, the property was again put up for sale.

Wells Fargo Plaza is a high-rise office tower complex located at 7900 Xerxes Avenue in Bloomington, Minnesota in the United States. Standing at 300 feet with 24 stories of Class A rated office space, the main tower is considered one of the more dominant landmarks of Interstate 494. The tower connects to an auxiliary three story building through a central atrium. The tower was originally proposed in 1969 by the Rauenhorst Corporation. At the time, the plans included a revolving restaurant and a heliport. The Plaza was built in 1974. A turntable was installed for the revolving restaurant, but in 1977, the Rauenhorst Corporation converted the top floor into office space, as they could not find a restaurant tenant.It is currently the 56th tallest building in Minnesota, and was the tallest in Bloomington until 1988, when it was surpassed by the 8500 Tower. It earned a TOBY award in 2012 from the Building Owners and Managers Association of Minneapolis.After extensive renovations in 2010, the plaza was put up for sale in July 2015. DRA Advisors bought the property in November of that year, and currently owns the building through a joint fund with City Center Realty Partners.

Edinborough Park is a 1-acre (4,000 m2), fully enclosed indoor park located in Edina, Minnesota. The park is operated by the City of Edina and contains a junior-Olympic size swimming pool, a 250-seat Greek-style amphitheater, a running track and fitness area, a huge indoor playground and a multi-purpose banquet room and play area. All of this amenities are connected by meandering pathways through the densely landscaped interior, which contains more than 6,000 plants, trees and flowers. Enclosing the park are condominiums as well as the Residence Inn by Marriott, both of which have indoor access to the pool/track and paid admission to the park.

Minicon is a science fiction and fantasy convention in Minneapolis usually held on Easter weekend. Started in 1968 and running approximately annually since then, it is one of the oldest science fiction conventions in the midwest United States. It is run by the Minnesota Science Fiction Society, a non-profit organization that is "dedicated to furthering the appreciation of science fiction and fantasy literature". Minicon has had many guests of honor over the years, including Gordon R. Dickson, Poul Anderson, Clifford D. Simak, Lester del Rey, Frederik Pohl, Octavia E. Butler, Harlan Ellison, Larry Niven, and Terry Pratchett. Minicon should not be confused with MinnCon, a dark fantasy/horror convention founded in 1971 by fans living in St. Paul, Minnesota. MinnCon changed its name to Arcana in 1988 to avoid confusion but many area fans still refer to the convention by its older name. The term "minicon" is often used informally in science fiction circles for any small convention.

The Credit River is a small tributary of the Minnesota River, 22 miles (35 km) long, in the southwestern Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area in Minnesota in the United States. Via the Minnesota River, it is part of the watershed of the Mississippi River, draining an area of 46 square miles (120 km²) in a suburban area. The stream flows for its entire length in eastern Scott County; its tributaries also drain a portion of western Dakota County.The Credit River issues from a small lake in the city of Elko New Market in southeastern Scott County, and flows generally northward through the township of New Market and the cities of Credit River and Savage. It flows into the Minnesota River from the south in Savage, approximately 14 miles (22 km) south-southwest of downtown Minneapolis.In 2002 the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency designated the Credit River as being impaired by turbidity. The agency removed the stream from its list of impaired waters in 2012 in light of monitoring data from 2008–2009 showing that excess turbidity was no longer present.
