Hodges, Jamaica is located in Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica. It is a small hamlet on the main A2 road (Spanish Town to Savanna-la-Mar) about 2 miles (3.2 km) north-west of Black River. It was the plantation village of Hodges estate which is bordered by the Caribbean Sea to the south and is east of Crawford, Jamaica.

Font Hill Beach is located in St Elizabeth, on the south coast of Jamaica, between Black River and White House. It is within a nature reserve on the Font Hill property owned by the Petroleum Company of Jamaica. It is an attractive, well kept beach with clean golden sand and safe swimming in a roped off area. Beyond the rope there is a shallow reef. Font Hill Beach is sometimes very popular at weekends and holidays, but is usually quiet during weekdays. The facilities include lifeguards, a grassed area with picnic tables under gazebos, bar, showers, changing rooms and toilets, lockers etc. Entry to the beach park is controlled by a guard and cost J$350 for adults,$175 for children and the group rate is $240 per person (in Sept 2008). It is open 9am to 5pm, every day of the week. Font Hill Beach Park is currently closed to the public until further notice.

Black River is the capital of St. Elizabeth Parish, in southwestern Jamaica. It developed as a port around the mouth of the river of the same name. In the 18th and early 19th centuries, it was a thriving sugar port with a market for African slaves. Growing prosperity in the sugar and lumber trade led to the construction of several warehouses. The Black River is one of the longest rivers in Jamaica. At a length of 53.4 km (33.2 mi), it was believed to be the longest until it was discovered that the Rio Minho was 92.8 km long. Its name refers to the darkness of the river bed caused by thick layers of decomposing vegetation. Over 100 species of birds have been recorded in the Black River morass.
