Gawthorpe Hall is an Elizabethan country house on the banks of the River Calder, in Ightenhill, a civil parish in the Borough of Burnley, Lancashire, England. Its estate extends into Padiham, with the Stockbridge Drive entrance situated there. The house is traditionally attributed to Robert Smythson. In the mid-19th century, the hall was rebuilt by Charles Barry, the architect of the Houses of Parliament. Since 1953 it has been designated a Grade I listed building. In 1970 the 4th Lord Shuttleworth gave the hall to the National Trust, with a 99-year lease to Lancashire County Council. Both bodies jointly administer the hall and in 2015 the council provided £500,000 funding for restoration work on the south and west sides of the house.

Great Barn is an historic building in the English civil parish of Ightenhill, Lancashire. Built around 1605 about 100 metres (330 ft) west of Gawthorpe Hall, it is now a Grade I listed building.

Gawthorpe is an electoral ward in the non-metropolitan district of Burnley in Lancashire, England. The population of the Burnley Ward at the 2011 census was 6,148. The ward covers the majority of the town of Padiham, meaning it is a largely urban area. It is part of the Padiham and Burnley West electoral division of Lancashire County Council, the Burnley UK Parliament constituency. Prior to Brexit in 2020 it was part of the North West England European Parliament constituency.

Burnley High School is a mixed secondary free school located in the town and Borough of Burnley, Lancashire, England. The school opened in September 2014 with only 32 11-year-old pupils (Year 7) but quickly grew to over-subscription. The school has expanded over the succeeding years and now has a capacity of 600 pupils. The school celebrated its first set of GCSE results under Head Teacher Mr Phill Walmsley in 2019.Operated by the Education Partnership Trust (EPT), the school plans to educate pupils within a family ethos, instilling a strong sense of community and social responsibility, with Burnley Life Church a supporting partner since the schools launch The school initially opened in the Parkhill Business Centre in Padiham Road, while a new building was constructed nearby on the site of the former Habergham High School (Burnley Grammar School). Its launch has been controversial as other schools in the town have hundreds of vacant places. The school moved the three existing year-groups into the new building in April 2017, with the school's first Ofsted inspection occurring shortly after and returning a "good" rating. The first year-group celebrated its GCSE results in 2019.

Burnley Grammar School was latterly, a state-funded selective boys grammar School, situated in Byron Street in Burnley, England. However, during its long history, it moved between a number of sites in the town.

Padiham Town Hall is a municipal building in Burnley Road, Padiham, Lancashire, England. The town hall, which was the headquarters of Padiham Urban District Council, is a grade II listed building.

Ightenhill is a civil parish in the Borough of Burnley in Lancashire, England, with a population of 1,975.Since its creation as Ightenhill Park in 1866 the parish has seen a number of boundary changes. The modern civil parish includes Gawthorpe Hall and extends across the River Calder leaving the hill it is named after. As a result, adjoining parts of Burnley, although not inside the parish, are still locally considered part of the Ightenhill area. Much of the populated part of the parish is composed principally of large 1980s housing estates forming part of Burnley's urban area. The parish adjoins the unparished area of Burnley and the parish of Padiham along with the Pendle parishes of Higham with West Close Booth, and Reedley Hallows. It is in the Whittlefield with Ightenhill ward of Burnley borough.

Padiham ( PAD-i-əm) is a town and civil parish on the River Calder, about three miles (5 km) west of Burnley, Lancashire, England. It forms part of the Borough of Burnley. Originally by the River Calder, it is edged by the foothills of Pendle Hill to the north-west and north-east. The United Kingdom Census 2011 gave a parish population of 10,098, estimated in 2019 at 10,138.

Green Brook is a minor river in Lancashire, England. It is 2.32 miles (3.73 km) long, and including tributaries, has the catchment area of 7.02 square miles (1,818.28 ha).Green Brook begins at the confluence of Hapton Clough and Habergham Clough in Spa Wood, next to the cemetery of Burnley. Hapton Clough is the product of Thorny Bank Clough and Tower Brook, which meet near Old Barn Farm, in Hapton. While Habergham Clough begins at the confluence of New Barn Clough and Micklehurst Clough, near Iron House Farm, in Habergham Eaves. From Spa Wood, Green Brook heads north, into one tunnel, which passes under the A679 Accrington Road, the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, the East Lancashire Railway Line, and the M65 Motorway, to emerge at Lowerhouse Lodges. In Lowerhouse, it collects Sweet Clough, and turns west into Padiham, where it collects Shaw Brook, and then continues northwest, flowing into the River Calder in the centre of the town.

Huntroyde Hall is a grade II listed, 16th-century house in the civil parish of Simonstone in the Borough of Ribble Valley, Lancashire, England. Its estate, Huntroyde Demesne (known locally as 'Huntroyde'), once extended to over 6,500 acres. Huntroyde Hall is reputed to stand on the site of a hunting lodge once owned by John O' Gaunt. The Huntroyde Hall Estate came to the Starkie family by marriage in circa.1464. The first recorded house was constructed on an H-shaped plan in 1576 for the Starkie family and re-built in the Georgian style in the mid-19th century. Wings added to the west side in 1777 and 1850 have since been demolished. The remaining part of the house was re-faced in ashlar sandstone in 1885. Huntroyde Hall features a Grade II listed Ha-Ha, one of the longest in the North of England.
