Gravesend is a neighborhood in the south-central section of the New York City borough of Brooklyn, on the southwestern edge of Long Island in the U.S. state of New York. It is bounded on the south by Coney Island, on the west by Bath Beach, on the north by Bensonhurst, and on the east by Homecrest and Sheepshead Bay. Gravesend was one of the original towns in the Dutch colony of New Netherland. After the English took over, it was one of the six original towns of Kings County in colonial New York. Gravesend was the only English chartered town in what became Kings County, and is notable as being one of the first towns founded by a woman, Lady Deborah Moody. The Town of Gravesend encompassed 7,000 acres (2,800 ha) in southern Kings County, including the entire island of Coney Island, and was annexed by the City of Brooklyn in 1894. The modern-day neighborhood is part of Brooklyn Community Board 11. As of 2010, Gravesend had a population of 29,436.

The Kings Highway station is an express station on the IND Culver Line of the New York City Subway, located at Kings Highway and McDonald Avenue in the Gravesend neighborhood of Brooklyn. The station is served by the F train at all times and the train during rush hours in the peak direction.

Congregation Shaare Zion (קהל קדוש שערי ציון‎) is an Orthodox Sephardic synagogue located at 2030 Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn, New York. Shaare Zion typically has an estimated 1,500 worshipers who attend its services Fridays and Saturdays for Shabbat making it one of the largest Sephardic synagogues in North America. In its over fifty years of existence, the synagogue has hosted over ten thousand occasions including Brit milahs, Bar mitzvas, engagements and weddings. The synagogue generally serves the Aleppo or (Halabi) descendants of the Syrian Jewish community.

Hubbard House, also known as Hubbard-Lucchelli House and Theresa Lucchelli House, is a historic home located in Brooklyn, New York. It is believed to have been built between 1825 and 1838. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000 and later designated by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission on January 13, 2009.

The Edmond J. Safra Synagogue is an Orthodox Sephardic synagogue located at 1801 Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn, New York. Pending construction of another facility, the congregation, referred to as Congregation Beit Yaakob, is "currently, temporarily, housed in the former Ahaba ve Ahva Synagogue." The planned new synagogue building, is at "Ocean Parkway and Ave. U."It is led by Rabbi Eli Mansour.

The Mirrer Yeshiva Central Institute (Hebrew: ישיבת מיר, Yeshivas Mir), commonly known as the Mir Yeshiva or the Mirrer Yeshiva, is a prominent, Haredi yeshiva located in Brooklyn, New York known for talmudic studies. The current roshei yeshiva are Rabbi Avrohom Yaakov Nelkenbaum, Rabbi Asher Dov Berenbaum, Rabbi Osher Eliyahu Kalmanowitz, and Rabbi Herschel Zolty. Other notable Maggidei Shiur are Rabbi Elya Brudny, Rabbi Reuven Schepansky, Rabbi Hershel Kaminsky, and Rabbi Tzvi Lobel. Some students and staff members consider Rabbi Schepansky to be Rosh Yeshiva as well. Rabbi Brudny serves a large public role in addition to his position in the Yeshiva, including sitting on the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah.

The B'nai Yosef Synagogue (or Congregation Bnai Yosef), formerly Magen David Congregation of Ocean Parkway, is an Orthodox Sephardi synagogue at the 1616 Ocean Parkway and Avenue P in Brooklyn, New York. It is considered "America's busiest synagogue for Middle and Near Eastern Jews", with over 30 prayer services daily.Built in the early 1970s, it became known as The Painted Shul, because its 13,000-square-foot (1,200 m2) interior is covered in brightly painted murals, making it the only completely muraled synagogue in the world. The synagogue is also unusual in that it was built and is funded by an anonymous individual; thus members are not required to pay any dues.

Old Gravesend Cemetery is a historic cemetery at Gravesend Neck Road and McDonald Avenue in Gravesend, Brooklyn, New York, New York. The cemetery was founded about 1658 and contains the graves of a number of the original patentees and their families. Lady Deborah Moody, founder of Gravesend, is believed to be buried in the cemetery.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Beth El Jewish Center of Flatbush is a historic synagogue at 1981 Homecrest Ave. in Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York, New York. It was built in 1927 and is a two-story plus basement, rectangular red brick building with decorative white glazed terra cotta trim. It has a tripartite front facade with a central parapet. It features Byzantine and Gothic Revival decorative elements.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

The Avenue U station is a local station on the BMT Sea Beach Line of the New York City Subway, located at the intersection of Avenue U and West Seventh Street in Gravesend, Brooklyn. It is served by the N train at all times. During rush hours, several W and northbound Q trains also serve the station.
