Yverdon-les-Bains

Yverdon-les-Bains Castle is a castle in the municipality of Yverdon-les-Bains of the Canton of Vaud in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

The Maison d'Ailleurs (translated as "House of Elsewhere") is a museum of science fiction, utopia and extraordinary journeys in Yverdon-les-Bains (Switzerland). It is a non-profit foundation functioning both as a public museum and a specialized research center. The archives of the museum contain around 70,000 documents related to science fiction or utopia (books, art pieces, toys, etc.), including some very old (as early as the sixteenth century) or unique pieces. The collections of the museum are used for iconographic purposes or research (literature, history of ideas, design, etc.). The Maison d'Ailleurs thus represents an important research and documentation center. In parallel, the museum presents from two to three temporary exhibitions per year, around the main themes of science fiction (cities of the future, space travel, lost worlds, etc.) and its artists: H. R. Giger, John Howe, James Gurney, Caza, Jean Fontaine, etc. The exhibitions favour diversity and openness towards the world, in order to reach a broad audience. The museum also offers itinerary exhibitions and regularly presents its work in Switzerland and abroad. Half a dozen exhibitions are rented per year on average. The Maison d'Ailleurs is the only public institution of its kind in the world. It has the status of a non-profit foundation, and therefore isn't directly a communal museum. The Foundation manages the collections owned by the city of Yverdon-les-Bains in the building it has been provided with. Five to seven members of the Foundation board are chosen by the municipality of Yverdon-les-Bains, while two others come from the association Amis de la Maison d'Ailleurs ("Friends of the House of Elsewhere").

Yverdon-les-Bains railway station (French: Gare d'Yverdon-les-Bains) is a railway station in the municipality of Yverdon-les-Bains, in the Swiss canton of Vaud. It is located at the junction of the standard gauge Fribourg–Yverdon and Jura Foot lines of Swiss Federal Railways and the 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) gauge Yverdon–Ste-Croix line of Travys.

The School of Engineering and Management Vaud or the School of Business and Engineering Vaud (abbrev. HEIG-VD, in the official French form Haute Ecole d'Ingénierie et de Gestion du Canton de Vaud) is a public university in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland. It was created by the merger of the EIVD (School of Engineering of the State of Vaud) and the HEG-VD (School of Business of the State of Vaud) on August 1, 2004. With its 2000 students, the HEIG-VD is the largest branch of the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HES-SO). It participates actively in regional, national, and international research and industry development in all areas covered by its teaching. As of fall 2006, HEIG-VD is based at a larger urban campus of three adjacent sites at Yverdon-les-Bains: Route de Cheseaux, Centre St-Roch, and Centre Y-Parc.

Yverdon District was a district of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland until 2006 when it was dissolved. It was divided into the Cercles of Molondin, Belmont-sur-Yverdon, Yverdon and Champvent. The district consisted of 38 municipalities, is 156.68 km2 in area and was home to 34,929 inhabitants at the end of 2003.

Stade Municipal is a multi-use stadium in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Yverdon-Sport FC and has a capacity of 6,600. The stadium has 1,000 seats and 5,600 standing places. It has 4 grass pitches equipped with floodlights as well as an illuminating training area.

Jura-Nord Vaudois District (French: district du Jura-Nord vaudois) is a district in Vaud canton of Switzerland. Its capital is Yverdon-les-Bains.

Yverdon-Champ Pittet railway station (French: Gare d'Yverdon-Champ Pittet) is a railway station in the municipality of Yverdon-les-Bains, in the Swiss canton of Vaud. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Fribourg–Yverdon line of Swiss Federal Railways.The long name of the station is Yverdon-les-Bains-Champ Pittet.

Grandson was a district of the Canton of Vaud in Switzerland. The seat of the district was the town of Grandson. On 1 September 2006 the district was dissolved and all the municipalities joined the new Jura-North Vaudois District (French: District du Jura-Nord vaudois).
