The Royal Ottawa Golf Club

The 2000 du Maurier Classic was contested from August 10–13 at Royal Ottawa Golf Club. It was the 28th edition of the du Maurier Classic, first held in 1973, and the 22nd and final edition as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. Following Imperial Tobacco Canada being forced to withdraw its sponsorship of the tournament because of Tobacco Act regulations in the country, the LPGA stripped the tournament of major status and replaced it with the Women's British Open in the UK. This event was won by Meg Mallon.

The Champlain Bridge (French: Pont Champlain) crosses the Ottawa River about 5 km (3.1 mi) west of Parliament Hill, joining the communities of Ottawa, Ontario and Gatineau, Quebec. It is the westernmost link between the two cities. It was originally built between 1924 and 1928 by the Federal District Commission, the predecessor to the National Capital Commission (NCC), and the NCC continues to maintain the bridge. The bridge consists of 4 spans and crosses Riopelle, Cunningham and Bate Islands in the Ottawa River. The total length of the bridge is 1.1 km (0.68 mi), making it the longest bridge spanning the Ottawa River. On the Ontario side, it is a continuation of Island Park Drive and is also connected to the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway. It connects to Aylmer Road on the Quebec side. A third reversible lane was added when the bridge was rebuilt in 2002, which is a high-occupancy vehicle lane used for crossings in the direction of peak traffic.The bridge was named after Samuel de Champlain who is associated with the portage around the rapids in this section of the river. The short access roadway on the Aylmer side of the bridge is called Place Samuel de Champlain. A 2 mi (3.2 km) stretch of the Ottawa River that the Champlain Bridge passes over was not charted by the Canadian Hydrographic Service.

Manoir-des-Trembles-Val-Tétreau District (District 6) is a municipal district in the city of Gatineau, Quebec. It is currently served on Gatineau City Council by Jocelyn Blondin. The district is located in the Hull sector of the city. The district includes the western part of Hull, including the neighbourhoods of Birch Manor (Manoir-des-Trembles), Jardins-Alexandre-Taché, Val-Tétreau, Jardins-Mackenzie-King and part of Wrightville. The district was created for the 2013 election from parts of Plateau–Manoir-des-Trembles District and Hull–Val-Tétreau District.

The Val-Tétreau District (District 4) was a municipal district in the city of Gatineau, Quebec. The district was located in the Hull sector of the city. The district included the neighbourhoods of Val-Tétreau, Jardins-Alexandre-Taché, Manoir des Trembles, Jardins Mackenzie-King and Plateau. The district was abolished in 2009, dividing up into Deschênes District, Plateau–Manoir-des-Trembles District and Hull–Val-Tétreau District.

Riverview is an historic manor at 432, boulevard Alexandre-Taché in the Hull sector of Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. It was originally built by the lumber baron David Moore in 1865. The sprawling Jacobean structure is a noted landmark. The house later became home to Edward S. Skead and his family, who were also in the lumber business. The city slowly encroached on the manor and it lost its exclusive status. After the First World War, it was sold and became a popular nightclub known as the Homestead Inn. In 1939, it changed roles again becoming the Ville-Joie-Ste-Thérèse orphanage. As orphanages were phased out in the 1960s, the facility became a nursery, but this closed in 1972. Today the building is the home of the Gatineau campus of the Conservatoire de musique et d'art dramatique du Québec.

Kitchissippi Ward (Ward 15) is a city ward in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It gets its name from the Algonquin name for the Ottawa River, meaning Great River. The ward is slightly west of downtown, and covers the neighbourhoods of Champlain Park, Civic Hospital, Hampton Park, Highland Park, Hintonburg, Island Park, McKellar Heights, McKellar Park, Mechanicsville, Westboro Beach, Westboro, Wellington Village, and Wellington Street West. As of the 2014 election on October 27, 2014, the ward is represented by Councillor Jeff Leiper.The ward was created in 1994 from parts of Queensboro Ward, Richmond Ward and Elmdale Ward.

Moe's Newport Restaurant is located in the Westboro area of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, at the corner of Churchill and Scott. It had previously been located at the corner of Richmond and Churchill. Moe's is known for its pizza and Lebanese cuisine menu. Moe's was founded by Moe Atallah, a Lebanese refugee who fled his homeland in 1976. In Lebanon, Atallah managed his family's restaurant on the Mediterranean coast. His first job in Canada was as a dishwasher for a Greek restaurant on Rideau Street. He worked for a number of local restaurants, including another local institution: the Colonnade pizzeria on Metcalfe Street. He purchased the Newport in 1988, turning the diner into a local landmark and highly successful enterprise. Atallah now owns a number of restaurants around Ottawa. Attalah is also a well known philanthropist, having raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charities. Every Christmas morning, Atallah allows the less fortunate to have breakfast and lunch at the Newport for free. Hundreds of gifts are also donated from the public to the Newport for this special occasion. Attalah is a co-founder, along with the late Canadian journalist and good friend Earl McRae, of the Elvis Sighting Society, a philanthropic organization that often holds events at the restaurant. The walls of the Newport are decorated with Elvis memorabilia and pictures, originally inspired by McRae being a well-known fan of the late singer. Nowadays, Atallah himself has a great fondness for Elvis as well. In recognition of the society and the Newport, the small lane behind the original restaurant has been officially dubbed "Elvis Lives Lane" by Ottawa City Council. The restaurant is also notable as the workplace of Heather Crowe, a longtime waitress at the Newport who was diagnosed with lung cancer. Having never smoked, the cancer was credited to the many years of exposure to secondhand smoke in the Newport, and other restaurants that she had worked in over a forty-year career. It was at the Newport that she met a Health Canada director who helped make her a spokesperson for the campaign against secondhand smoke, which included appearance in television commercials across Canada. Atallah also appeared in a series of public awareness commercials, discussing how unaware restaurant owners were about the dangers of secondhand smoke, and how smoking had been banned by the Newport after Crowe's diagnosis. The restaurant also runs the kiosk and patio at Kitchissippi beach nearby.

Westboro is a station in Ottawa, Ontario. It is located in the Westboro neighbourhood, on Scott Street between Athlone and Tweedsmuir avenues. The Transitway in the area was in a below-grade 'trench' parallelling Scott Street. Each platform had an elevator and stairway to the ground level above; the two sides were connected by an enclosed pedestrian bridge, and the ground-level station area also had platforms for local buses. In June 2022, this stretch of Transitway was permanently closed to facilitate O-Train Stage 2 construction. The bus stops were relocated to curbside along Scott Street, and the original station was closed.It is within walking distance of the Minto Metropole, Ottawa's second-tallest residential building.

The Minto Metropole is a 32-story residential building in the Westboro neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario. At 108 metres (354 ft), it is the third-tallest building in Ottawa, after Claridge Icon and Place de Ville Tower C. It is the second-tallest residential building in the National Capital Region. The Minto Metropole is located on the near western side of the city on Island Park Drive, overlooking the Ottawa River, and within walking distance of Westboro Station. Opened in 2004, the postmodern tower is home to 153 condominiums. Originally, Minto planned to build a series of shorter towers along the waterfront, but residents complained that such a project would completely obscure their view of the river. As a result, Minto proposed building a single tall but slim tower, and city council approved the necessary rezoning.

At 3:50 pm EST, on January 11, 2019, an OC Transpo double-decker bus, operating on route 269 to Kanata, crashed on approach to Westboro Station, Ottawa, Canada, by swerving and striking the bus shelter at the station. Part of the upper deck of the bus was torn off on impact, killing three people on board, as well as injuring 23 others. The driver was arrested at the scene for allegedly failing to cooperate with police, and was released with no charges laid.

Champlain Park (French: Parc Champlain; also known as Ottawa West) is an older urban neighbourhood in Kitchissippi Ward in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was considered in the 1930s as the west end of town. The boundaries of the neighbourhood are the Ottawa River (to the north) and Scott Street (to the south). To the east is Tunney's Pasture and to the west is Island Park Drive. Westboro Beach is also to the west. The population as of the 2016 Census was 1090.The area was part of the police village of Ottawa West from 1912 until being annexed by Ottawa in 1949. The police village was bounded by Ottawa's city limits, the Ottawa River and the Briannia street car line. Most of the homes were built in the 1920s and 1930s, with the last development in the 1950s. The community association was incorporated in 1991.Notable buildings include St. George Elementary School, the Ottawa mosque where the Ottawa Muslim Association has their meetings, and the adjacent Hall of Peace, formerly Northwestern United Church.
