Trevone

Crugmeer (Cornish: Krugmeur, great barrow) is a hamlet in north Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated one-and-a-half miles (2 kilometres) from Padstow to the west of the River Camel estuary. The hamlet consists of half-a-dozen houses and a farm at the junction of two lanes. One lane gives access to Crugmeer from the Padstow-St Merryn road then continues northeast to Lellizzick, Hawker's Cove and Stepper Point. The other lane leads west from Crugmeer to Trevone beach.Crugmeer lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Almost a third of Cornwall has AONB designation, with the same status and protection as a National Park.

St Merryn (Cornish: S. Meryn) is a civil parish and village in north Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is about 3.5 miles (5.6 km) south of the fishing port of Padstow and 11 miles (18 km) northeast of the coastal resort of Newquay. The village has a primary school (St Merryn School, part of Kernow Learning), a veterinary practice, various shops, restaurants, and two public houses. The population at the 2011 census was 1,692.

Harlyn (Cornish: ar-Lyn, meaning facing a pool) is a small village on the north coast of Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated inland from Harlyn Bay (Cornish: Porth Lys, meaning court cove) three miles from Padstow and about one mile from St. Merryn.Harlyn Bay is a family and surfing beach and is suitable for novice surfers. Near the beach are a caravan park and a pub called The Harlyn Inn. Many of the houses in Harlyn are holiday lets. East of Harlyn Bay is the village and beach of Trevone and west of Harlyn are Cataclews Point (Cornish: Karrek Loos, meaning grey rock), Mother Ivey's Bay and Trevose Head. Further west, the beaches at Constantine Bay, Porthcothan and Treyarnon are linked by the South West Coast Path. Harlyn lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The village is comprised to a large extent of second homes, and is quiet for much of the year. The beach and most of the land on the cliff was brought over a century ago by a wealthy industrialist family, who still own the houses on the cliff top.

Tregirls (Cornish: Tregryllas, meaning farmstead of the ruins of an ancient dwelling) is a farmstead in Cornwall, United Kingdom. It is situated approximately half-a-mile (1 km) north of Padstow. The settlement consists of a farm and converted cottages which are let as holiday accommodation.Tregirls beach (which takes its name from the settlement) is 500 metres north at grid reference SW 911 769. The north-facing beach is in the River Camel estuary and is backed by dunes with a small stream trickling across the sand at low tide from the corner of the beach tucked hard behind Stepper Point known as Harbour Cove. Beyond Harbour Cove towards Stepper Point is Hawkers Cove, previously the location of the RNLI Padstow lifeboat, now too shallow even at high tide and dry sand at low tide, the result of the sands shifting over the years. The South West Coast Path runs behind the beach before climbing above the rocky side of the river at Hawkers Cove on its way to the Daymark on Stepper Point. Today at low water Tregirls beach extends half-a-mile into the estuary and at its northeast point forms the Doom Bar, a spit of sand across the river mouth. However this was not always so as the deep water channel used to run close to Stepper Point, as is evidenced by the old lifeboat station being located at Harbour Cove. The settlement of Tregirls takes its name from the manor of Grylls or Tregrylls of which it was a parcel along with Crugmeer, Treator, and Trenio.

Lellizzick (Cornish: Lan Wolesyk, meaning Woledic's church enclosure) is a farmstead settlement in north Cornwall, England. It is situated approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Padstow on the lane from Crugmeer to Hawkers Cove.A gated vehicle track leads north from Lellizzick to the National Coastwatch Institution watch station on Stepper Point. A permissive footpath leads south to Tregirls beach.

Hawker's Cove is a small coastal settlement in north Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated one-and-a-half miles (2 kilometres) north of Padstow on the west side of the River Camel estuary .The hamlet consists of two terraces of cottages, a few detached dwellings, a coastguard station and a boathouse with a slipway which once housed the Padstow lifeboat. The actor Edward Woodward lived there until his death in 2009. The first lifeboat, built by the Padstow Harbour Association, was kept at Hawker's Cove and in 1855 the Padstow branch of the RNLI was formed. A new boathouse with a roller slipway was built in 1931. By the 1960s, silting was becoming a problem and in October 1967 the Padstow lifeboat relocated to a new boathouse and slipway at Trevose Head, a few miles to the west. Facilities at Hawkers Cove are limited, although there is now a (tiny) tea garden at the back of the two-hundred-year-old ‘Coastguard Houses’, approximately 150m from the slipway at the beach. Evidence has been found of occupation during the Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman periods, and the use of Harbour Cove for trading vessels.Road access to Hawker's Cove is via a lane which leads from the Padstow-St Merryn road through Crugmeer to Lellizzick . As traffic is discouraged beyond Lellizzick, motorists are directed to a nearby carpark from where a track leads to the coastpath at Tregirls beach.

Padstow (; Standard Written Form: Lannwedhenek) is a town, civil parish and fishing port on the north coast of Cornwall, United Kingdom. The town is situated on the west bank of the River Camel estuary, approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) northwest of Wadebridge, 10 miles (16 km) northwest of Bodmin and 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Newquay. The population of Padstow civil parish was 3,162 in the 2001 census, reducing to 2,993 at the 2011 census. In addition an electoral ward with the same name exists but extends as far as Trevose Head. The population for this ward is 4,434.The geology of the low plateau west of Padstow has resulted in such features as Tregudda Gorge where erosion along the faultline has caused sheer cliffs to form; and Marble Cliffs which has alternating dark grey and light grey strata. The Round Hole is a collapsed sea cave.
