Amelia Court House (also known as Amelia Courthouse and Amelia) is the county seat of Amelia County in the U.S. state of Virginia and a census-designated place (CDP). The population as of the 2010 census was 1,099. The town was named for Princess Amelia of Great Britain, the second daughter of Great Britain's King George II, in 1735.

Amelia Academy is an independent co-educational college preparatory school in Amelia, Virginia. It was founded in 1964 as a segregation academy. The campus is located within the rural Piedmont region of central Virginia.

Amelia County High School (ACHS), part of the Amelia County Public Schools system, is a public high school located in Amelia Courthouse, Virginia, United States. ACHS serves over 500 students grades 9–12 to citizens within Amelia County.

Otterburn is an unincorporated community located in Amelia County, in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is located just south of Amelia Court House, Virginia and was a stop on the Richmond and Danville Railroad.

Winterham is a historic plantation house located near Winterham and Amelia Court House, Amelia County, Virginia, on Grub Hill Church Road. It was built about 1855 and is a two-story frame structure with a hipped roof in the Italian villa style. It has four original porches and a cross-hall plan. Also on the property are a contributing late 19th century farm dependency and early 20th century garage.It is the only known Virginia building by Thomas Tabb Giles, a significant amateur architect, and William Percival, a significant professional architect. Giles was the son of Governor William Branch Giles, who owned Wigwam, another notable historic estate, located several miles north. A set of original architectural drawings for Winterham are housed at the Virginia Historical Society. In the 21st century, the house is privately owned and operated as a bed and breakfast and a venue for catering and weddings. Winterham was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Egglestetton is a historic plantation house located near Chula, Amelia County, Virginia. It was built about 1799, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, five-bay, frame dwelling with a gambrel roof. It has a Central-passage plan and has beaded weatherboard siding. The house was extensively restored in 1972–1973. Also on the property is an early 19th-century kitchen. It was built for planter and Congressman Joseph Eggleston (1754-1811).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

St. John's Church, commonly known as Grub Hill Church, is a historic Episcopalian church in rural Amelia County, in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is located on SR 609 (Grub Hill Church Road) just south of SR 636 (N. Lodore Road), between the communities of Amelia Court House and Chula. "Grub Hill" is an obsolete place-name derived from the "Grub Hill" slave quarters of the Tabb family, who donated the land for the construction of an Episcopal church. Grub Hill Church was originally established on the site in the mid-1700s; the current structure was built in 1852, and consists of a one-story gable-roofed brick structure in a vernacular Gothic Revival style.Currently owned by Christ Episcopal Church of Amelia Court House, St. John's is still used by the parish for occasional services, including the Eucharist in May and October.The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Truxillo is an unincorporated community located in Amelia County, in the U.S. state of Virginia, located at the intersections of SR 681 (Pridesville and Clementown Roads) and SR 639 (Mt. Zion Road). The community was a post village in the 1900s.

Maplewood is a mostly rural unincorporated community in southwest central Amelia County in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is located at the intersection of SR 640/SR 697 (Maplewood Road, a short loop segment of old US 360) and SR 640 (Buckskin Creek Road), just off the four-lane current US 360. Maplewood straddles the border between ZIP codes 23002 (Amelia Court House, the county seat, 4 miles northeast) and 23083 (Jetersville). The nearest volunteer fire station is Amelia County Volunteer Fire Department Co. 3, at Jetersville, just over 2 miles southwest. At the turn of the 20th century, Maplewood was a post village and a freight station (Milepost 40.0) on what was then the Southern Railway, originally the Richmond and Danville Railroad. The railroad track is still used by freight trains; it parallels Maplewood Road and is now owned by the Norfolk Southern Railway.

Haw Branch is a historic plantation house located near Amelia Court House, Amelia County, Virginia. The earliest section of the house dates to 1748. It was enlarged and expanded after the Revolutionary War. The house consists of a five-bay central block with hipped roof and exterior end chimneys, flanked by symmetrical three-bay wings with hipped roofs. It was restored in 1965. The house features finely detailed Federal-style interiors added about 1815. Also on the property are a contributing little school house, a rectangular building with a massive central chimney housing the kitchen and weaving room, and a smokehouse on the eastern end of the row of dependencies.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Chula is a mostly rural unincorporated community in the northeastern part of Amelia County just west of the Appomattox River in the U.S. state of Virginia. The town is centered around the T-intersection of SR 636 (Lodore Road) and SR 740 (Old Chula Road) in Giles District. Chula is just west of SR 604 (Chula Road), which includes a short bypass segment built around the town in the late 20th century. The area is served by the post office 7 miles southwest at Amelia Court House, ZIP code 23002. The nearest fire station to Chula is Amelia County Volunteer Fire Department Station 4, near Mattoax, 3 miles north.

The Tabb Monument, dedicated in 1936, is a monument in Amelia County, Virginia dedicated to Virginia-born Catholic poet John Bannister Tabb. The marker, and the one-acre (4,000 m2) plot of land surrounding it, are managed as a state park by the Commonwealth of Virginia. It is Virginia's smallest state park.
