Benns Church is a census-designated place (CDP) in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, United States. It is located at the junction of U.S. Route 258 and State Routes 10 and 32, southeast of Smithfield. The population as of the 2010 census was 872.The community is named for Benn's United Methodist Church, which lies at the intersection of Benn's Church Boulevard and Brewer's Neck Boulevard (US-258 with State Routes 10 and 32). The church was founded at that location by George Benn in 1789. Benn is buried in front of the church. The church bears a Virginia Historical Marker. Benns Church is home to Benn's Grant, a 253-acre (102 ha) mixed-use development, which took almost a decade to be realized.

Wat Pasantidhamma (Thai: วัดป่าสันติธรรม, or "Wat Pa"), meaning "a peaceful temple in the woods", is a Thai Theravada Buddhist temple located at 14289 Chapmans Lane in rural Carrollton, Virginia. It is a non-profit religious organization serving the Thai and Thai American communities. Established as the first Buddhist temple in the Tidewater (southeastern) region of Virginia in 1998, it remains as of 2010 one of three in the State.

Smithfield High School is a public high school located in Smithfield, Virginia in Isle of Wight County, south of Newport News and the James River. It is part of the Isle of Wight County Public Schools and graduated its first class in 1906. The school's current facility opened in 1980. Athletic teams compete in the Virginia High School League's AA Bay Rivers District in Region I. Smithfield High School is also fully accredited school by the Virginia Board of Education and is also part of the program 'No Child Left Behind.'

King of All Places is a former plantation on the eastern side of Cypress Creek in Smithfield, Virginia. The plantation manor house dates from 1806. The plantation was founded by the Grimes family. The plantation was subdivided during the 1950s to form the Grimesland subdivision. The manor house remains a private residence. The manor house can be seen from the marsh overlook at Windsor Castle Park. The origin of the name is recorded in the notes of the will of Captain John Moon: "Cypress creek flows into Pagan creek at Smithfield. The King of All Places is the first landing on Cypress creek and is so called from its very high bluffs, and the channel of the creek which runs right up to the bluff, and its depth of water. From the mouth of Pagan creek there are extensive flats extending thirty, forty, fifty feet and more from the shore, preventing the easy loading of a vessel, but at the King of All Places the vessel can be right up at the shore and be loaded without the least trouble; hence it was the King of All Places for shipping purposes. This is perfectly apparent "to the oldest inhabitant" now, but "the oldest inhabitant" never dreampt that these names were so ancient."

Bartlett is an unincorporated community in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, United States. It is located at the junction of U.S. Route 17, U.S. Route 258, and State Route 32, on the James River Bridge approach southeast of Smithfield.

Smithfield is a town in Isle of Wight County, in the South Hampton Roads subregion of the Hampton Roads region of Virginia in the United States. The population was 8,533 at the 2020 census. The town is most famous for the curing and production of the Smithfield ham. The Virginia General Assembly passed a statute defining "Smithfield ham" by law in 1926, with one of the requirements that it be processed within the town limits. Smithfield Foods, a Chinese Fortune 500 company that owns Smithfield Packing Company and others, is the world's largest pork processor and hog producer. The company, based in Smithfield, raises 12 million hogs and processes 20 million pounds of them annually.

P. D. Gwaltney Jr. House is a historic home located at Smithfield, Isle of Wight County, Virginia. The house was built about 1900, and is a large two-story, rectangular, Queen Anne style wood frame mansion with three porches. It features an elaborate profile punctuated by a corner turret, projecting bays, and a complex roof form. It was the primary residence of Pembroke Decatur Gwaltney Jr. of the Gwaltney meat empire.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. It is located in the Smithfield Historic District. The mansion remained in the Gwaltney family until 2016.

Col. Josiah Parker Family Cemetery is a historic family cemetery located near Smithfield, Isle of Wight County, Virginia. It is the burial site of American Revolutionary War Colonel, naval officer, and Congressman Josiah Parker (1751-1810). Its location was rediscovered in 2001. The family believes a total of 30 persons are buried at the site.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

There are 211 houses, 37 commercial buildings, 1 warehouse, 4 churches, 10 barns, 1 smokehouse, 23 garages, 1 farm office, 1 colonial kitchen, and 2 corncrib structures. Notable buildings include the original county clerk's office (1799), county jail, Wentworth-Barrett House (c. 1752), Wentworth–Grinnan House (c. 1780), King-Atkinson House (c. 1800), Smith-Morrison House (1770s), Hayden Hall (c. 1810, c. 1846), Boykin House (c. 1876), Goodrich House (1886), Thomas House (1889), Smithfield Academy (1827), Christ Episcopal Church (1832, 1892), and Hill Street Baptist Church (1923). Located in the district and separately listed are the Old Isle of Wight Courthouse, Smithfield Inn, Windsor Castle Farm, and P. D. Gwaltney Jr. House.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
