Erp (Germany)

Erpa is a river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The Erpa springs near Weiler in der Ebene, a district of Zülpich. It is a left tributary of the Lechenicher Mühlengraben North of Ahrem, a district of Erftstadt. The Lechenicher Mühlengraben is a confluence of the Rotbach.

Erftstadt (German pronunciation: [ˈɛʁftˌʃtat] ) is a town located about 20 km south-west of Cologne in the Rhein-Erft-Kreis, state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The name of the town derives from the river that flows through it, the Erft. The neighbouring towns are Brühl, Kerpen, Zülpich and Weilerswist. A landslide during the 2021 European floods led to the collapse of several houses.

Schloss Türnich is a schloss located in Türnich, now part of Kerpen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The present main building was built from 1757 to 1766 in Baroque style, with an adjacent English landscape park. It has belonged to the Hoensbroech family since 1850. A richly decorated chapel was added in 1895. The building was closed in 1979 because of structural damage caused by groundwater-related subsidence and has since then been restored. Its spacious park with a cafe is open to the public.

Schlosspark Türnich is the park of Schloss Türnich, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The present main building was built from 1757 to 1766 in Baroque style. The English landscape park was begun in the 1790, and extended around 1889. It is managed with a focus on biodiversity. The spacious park with a café is open to the public. The ensemble with a moated palace and chapel, the park and biological-dynamic agriculture is a monument of national importance.

Zülpicher See (also Wassersportsee Zülpich) is a lake in Zülpich, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. At an elevation of 154 m, its surface area is 85 ha.

Zülpich Castle or the Electoral Cologne Sovereign Castle of Zülpich (German: Kurkölnische Landesburg Zülpich) is the landmark and symbol of the town of Zülpich in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Its origins may be traced to a Roman castrum. The present site was built in the late 14th century as a symbol of sovereignty and outpost of the archbishops of Cologne against the County of Jülich. Razed by French troops at the end of the 17th century, the ruins of the lowland castle ended up in private hands. The Zülpich manufacturing family of Sieger opened a schnaps distillery in the castle until 1870 that operated until the 1980s. In the Second World War it was badly damaged, was partly rebuilt in the 1950s and acts today as a tourist information bureau and home of the Zülpich History Society.
