Beaumont House

Beaumont is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Burnside. Founded as a purpose-built village by Sir Samuel Davenport in 1848, it initially struggled due to high land prices in the area. However, with Adelaide's inevitable expansion residents eventually settled. The early village had quite a cosmopolitan flavour–although predominantly Anglo-Saxon like most of Australia at this point, many of Beaumont's early residents were veterans of the British Navy or Army or had lived in other countries for some time. Beaumont House, constructed around 1850 for Augustus Short, still stands and is now owned by the National Trust of South Australia. Edward Burton Gleeson, the founder of the Mid North town of Clare originally owned a farm within the boundaries of Beaumont in the early 1840s, which he named "Gleeville". He became insolvent, sold the property to Davenport in 1842 and moved to his country property "Inchiquin" in the Clare Valley region. The original village was centred on a small park known as the "Beaumont Common" (or to residents simply as "The Common"). The suburb has now expanded south-east in the direction of the hills however, with newer developments now on the face of the Adelaide Hills.

Mount Osmond is a small suburb of 2,497 people in the South Australian capital city of Adelaide. It is part of the City of Burnside local government area and located in the foothills of the Adelaide Hills, five kilometres south east of the city centre. The suburb is high on the hill of the same name, which is the last hill on the right when approaching Adelaide down the South Eastern Freeway before the road levels out onto the Adelaide Plains. It is bounded to the north by the suburb of Beaumont, to the north-east by Burnside, to the east by Waterfall Gully, to the south by Leawood Gardens/Eagle On The Hill, to the south-west by Urrbrae, to the west by Glen Osmond and to the north-west by St Georges. The suburb is at a high elevation in the Mount Lofty Ranges, and provides views over Adelaide as well as containing a renowned golf course and country club. Mining operations in the 19th century gave the area notoriety, but it has since developed slowly into a small, quiet and secluded suburb.

Linden Park is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia in the City of Burnside. It derives its name from the Linden Tree. Hazelwood Park is an upper class suburb in the City of Burnside, Adelaide, South Australia with a census area population of 1,717 people. The suburb is about 5 kilometres east of the Central business district. Hazelwood Park, a suburban park inside the suburb, is the major attraction in the suburb and is the start of the flat country of the Adelaide Plains at the bottom of the Adelaide Hills. Adjacent Howard Terrace is considered to be the end of the Plains and the start of the foothills. Hazelwood Park includes the Burnside Swimming Centre, a popular site in the summer. Much of the remainder of the suburb is residential but there is a small shopping area along Glynburn Road on the eastern edge. The area was first settled by Europeans in 1848 but has seen many community changes over the years. The suburb is split in half by Greenhill Road, to the north there are residential dwellings and the park. To the south and east are the foothills of the Mount Lofty Ranges with continued residential properties. Hazelwood Park is bounded to the north by Knightsbridge Road, to the east by Glynburn Road, to the south by Cooper Place and to the west by Devereux Road and a line along the back of the blocks between Hazelwood and Tusmore avenues.

Burnside was an electoral district of the House of Assembly in the Australian state of South Australia from 1938 to 1970. Before 1938 the Burnside area was represented by the three-seat multi-member electorate of Sturt. It was abolished in the 1970 parliamentary reforms, and was replaced with Bragg.Burnside was one of just three metropolitan seats (with Mitcham and Torrens) won by the Liberal and Country League in 1965 and 1968.

Burnside is suburb in the City of Burnside council area in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide. It is primarily a residential suburb. It was named Burnside, an amalgamation of the Scottish word for creek, "burn" and "side" because of the original property's location on the side of Second Creek. Burnside is 7.5 kilometres (4.7 mi) east of the Adelaide city centre by road.

Hazelwood Park is a park in the Australian state of South Australia located in the suburb of Hazelwood Park within the Adelaide Metropolitan Area.First creek continues its journey from the hills through the park, the water flowing from Waterfall Gully and into Tusmore. The park contains an assortment of play areas, picnic tables and barbecues. It is relatively large by suburban standards, but unusually there are no playing fields. It is strongly characterised by massive old eucalyptus trees that can be seen from blocks away. Although it is well facilitated, it is normally not as popular as the nearby smaller Tusmore Park. Hazelwood Park was listed on the South Australian Heritage Register on 11 May 1995.

Wheal Watkins mine is an historic lead and silver mine in Glen Osmond, South Australia. The mine first operated from 1844 until 1850, and again briefly in 1888 to 1889, and 1916. From 1986 onwards, the mine was accessible by guided tour, until a rockfall event prompted its closure in 2005.

St Georges is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Burnside. The suburb is mostly residential, consisting of upper-middle class residents.

Greenhill Creek Recreation Park is a protected area located in the Australian state of South Australia about 7 kilometres (4.3 miles) east of the Adelaide city centre in the suburb of Greenhill.The land forming the recreation park which first received protected area status on 27 November 1952 as a national pleasure resort. The national pleasure resort was re-proclaimed under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972 as the Greenhill Recreation Park on 27 April 1972. As of 2018, it covered an area of 24 hectares (59 acres).In 1980, it is described as having "a long history of grazing, clearing and bushfires", as having "vegetation consisting primarily of Eucalyptus odorata, E. leucoxylon and E obliqua open woodland over a largely introduced understorey of grasses, herbs and forbs" and its "principal value" is as "an excellent recreational lookout offering extensive views over Adelaide".The recreation park is classified as an IUCN Category III protected area. In 1980, it was listed on the former Register of the National Estate.

Seymour College is an independent, Uniting Church, day and boarding school for girls, located at Glen Osmond, Adelaide, South Australia. Established in 1922 as Presbyterian Girls' College, Seymour has a non-selective enrolment policy and currently caters for students from pre-school (4 years of age) to Year 12, including 105 boarders. In addition, The Early Years at Seymour offers a co-educational program for children from 6 weeks of age. The college is girls only from Prep (4 years of age) to Year 12. The college is affiliated with the Alliance of Girls' Schools Australasia (AGSA), the Independent Primary School Heads of Australia (IPSHA), the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia, (AHISA), the Australian Boarding Schools' Association, (ABSA), the Uniting Church in Australia and the International Baccalaureate Organisation.

The City of Burnside is a local government area in the South Australian city of Adelaide stretching from the Adelaide Parklands into the Adelaide foothills with an area of 2,753 hectares (6,800 acres). It was founded in August 1856 as the District Council of Burnside, the name of a property of an early settler, and was classed as a city in 1943. The LGA is bounded by Adelaide, Adelaide Hills Council, Campbelltown, Mitcham, Norwood Payneham and St Peters and Unley. A primarily residential upper middle class area, Burnside has little to no industrial activity and a small commercial sector. Over 257 hectares (640 acres) of its area is dedicated to Parks and Reserves, the result being one of the greenest areas in Adelaide.It was one of the first areas outside of Adelaide to be settled, with the early villages of Magill, Burnside, Beaumont and Glen Osmond now inner suburbs. At the 2006 census, the city had a SEIFA score of 1108 (96th percentile), which was the highest figure for any local government area in South Australia – individual CCD scores ranged from 909 in eastern Glenside to 1194 in Stonyfell.
