Hobart Private Hospital

The Royal Hobart Hospital is a public hospital in the Hobart CBD, Tasmania, Australia. The hospital also functions as a teaching hospital in co-operation with the University of Tasmania. The hospital's research facilities are known as the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation. Also close to the hospital site is the Menzies Research Institute. The hospital is run by the Tasmanian Government as part of the Department of Health and Human Services and is the largest hospital, and the largest employer, in Tasmania. The hospital provides services for all of southern Tasmania and has capacity for 400 patients. Many statewide services such as cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, major trauma, high-risk obstetrics, hyperbaric medicine, and neonatal intensive care are based at the hospital, with referrals coming in from the north and northwest. The main entrance underwent construction for a new underground emergency department. This began operation in early 2007 with surrounding construction ongoing. A more recent hospital redevelopment project was initiated with A$565 million in funding, including a new women's and children's precinct, cancer service, intensive care unit, and day surgery facility.

Ingle Hall is a landmark building in Hobart, Tasmania on the corner of Macquarie and Argyle Streets. It has served numerous purposes over its history and is vacant; it was most recently used as The Mercury print museum. It is unknown when the building was built as it predates any government record holding by the state of Tasmania, which began in 1822. It is named for John Ingle, one of the two possible first inhabitants of the building.It was listed on the Register of the National Estate until that list was archived in 2007, and is on the Tasmanian Heritage Register. It is alleged to be the oldest building in Hobart (and therefore Tasmania), but this is not proven.

Elizabeth Street is the major street which runs southeast to northwest through the city and suburbs of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It was named by the Governor of New South Wales from 1810 to 1821, Lachlan Macquarie, after his wife Elizabeth Macquarie. It starts at Sullivans Cove and runs northwesterly through the CBD of Hobart and the North Hobart shopping district including the State Cinema, and changes to become New Town Road at the intersection with Augusta Road in New Town. The Elizabeth Street Pier extends into Sullivan's Cove (the Port of Hobart) from Franklin Wharf near the intersection with Elizabeth Street. Along the street are the General Post Office, the Hobart Bus Mall, the Elizabeth Street Mall, and Elizabeth College. Many major banks, insurance companies and retail outlets are situated on or close to Elizabeth Street.

General Post Office (abbreviation GPO, commonly known as the Hobart GPO) is a landmark building located on the corner of Elizabeth Street and Macquarie Street in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It stands next to the former Mercury Building and has served as the headquarters of the Tasmanian Postal system since its construction in 1905, though mail processing has now been moved to Glenorchy. It has been listed on the Commonwealth Heritage List since 2004.

The Magistrates Court of Tasmania is the main day-to-day court in the Australian state of Tasmania and exists in accordance with the laws handed down by the Tasmanian Parliament. The Hobart Interchange (also colloquially referred to as the Hobart Bus Mall) is a section of Elizabeth Street that serves as Metro Tasmania's primary bus terminus in Hobart's CBD. It is utilised by thousands of commuters every day, bringing city workers into Hobart from outlying suburbs, and the neighbouring cities of Clarence and Glenorchy, as well as nearby Richmond, Cambridge and Kingborough. The mall is the section of Elizabeth Street, located between Macquarie Street, and Collins Street. There are also several stops located in nearby Franklin Square.

The Hope and Anchor Tavern (formerly Hope and Anchor Hotel, the Alexandra, the Whale Fishery and the Hope) is an Australian pub in Hobart, Tasmania. Built in 1807, it is the oldest continually licensed pub in Australia. However, The Bush Inn in New Norfolk claims to be the oldest operating Australian pub, because their venue has operated continuously since it opened in 1815 whereas the Hope and Anchor Tavern has had periods of closure (whilst still holding their licence) since opening in 1807. The Hope and Anchor Tavern is referred to in 'Captain A E Sykes: memoirs'It was reopened in 2014 after the building and its extensive antique collection were purchased by Chinese developer Kim Xing for A$1.5 million. The property was then leased to Robert Wilson and licensed to Daniel Cullen. whose goal was to preserve a piece of Tasmanian history. The building has been listed on the Tasmanian Heritage Register since 1998. The Hope and Anchor Tavern was owned for many years by Gunter Jaeger, who also owns Boomer Island. In 2015, the owner and licensee was Daniel Cullen.

The Hobart Reception Centre, formerly the Hobart Remand Centre, an Australian maximum security prison for male and female inmates held on remand, is located in Hobart, Tasmania. The facility is operated by the Tasmanian Prison Service, an agency of the Department of Justice of the Government of Tasmania. The facility accepts felons charged under Tasmanian and/or Commonwealth legislation pending legal proceedings; and also detains convicted felons, pending their classification and placement at other correctional facilities in Tasmania.

The Hedberg is performing arts campus and teaching facility that encompasses the historic Theatre Royal and the University of Tasmania (UTAS) through a collaborative partnership which also included the Australian and Tasmanian Governments.
