Ushuaia ( oo-SWY-ə, Spanish: [uˈswaja]) is the capital of Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur Province, Argentina. With a population of 82,615 and a location below the 54th parallel south latitude, Ushuaia claims the title of world's southernmost city. Ushuaia is located in a wide bay on the southern coast of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, bounded on the north by the Martial mountain range and on the south by the Beagle Channel. It is the only municipality in the Department of Ushuaia, which has an area of 9,390 km2 (3,625 sq mi). It was founded on 12 October 1884, by Augusto Lasserre and is located on the shores of the Beagle Channel surrounded by the mountain range of the Martial Glacier, in the Bay of Ushuaia. Besides being an administrative center, it is a light industrial port and tourist hub. Ushuaia is located roughly 1,100 kilometres (680 mi) from the Antarctic Peninsula and is one of five internationally recognized Antarctic gateway cities.

The National University of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands (Spanish: Universidad Nacional de Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur) is an Argentine national university in Tierra del Fuego Province. The campus university is located in the city of Ushuaia. The institution was founded through National Law 26.559, enacted by Congress on November 14, 2009, and was formally established on December 28, 2010. Developed from the Ushuaia campus of the National University of Patagonia San Juan Bosco, UNTDF maintains 11 undergraduate schools, including political science, sociology, tourism, and economics. it offers four post-graduate studies, (Antarctic studies, Mathematics, Literature, and Biology), as well as four institutes (Environmental Science, Education, Culture, and Innovation).

The Ushuaia Naval Base or Admiral Berisso Integrated Naval Base is the southernmost port of the Argentine Navy, situated in Ushuaia on the shores of the Beagle Channel. It is also the main Argentine port and logistics center for access to Antarctica. It is named after Emilio Rodolfo Berisso, a naval officer assassinated in 1972 by the Revolutionary Armed Forces. The base was founded on December 13, 1950, by then-President Juan Perón in order to establish a base of operations for support ships operating in the southern sector. The deep draught of the port allows the operation of large ships. The base is used by Argentine Navy ships participating in each year's Antarctic Campaign for maintenance and resupply. Also included in its scope is the Ushuaia Naval Air Station (former airport), from where aircraft and helicopters of the Naval Aviation Command operate when they exercise in the Southern Atlantic. The geographical area of its jurisdiction includes the province of Santa Cruz, the Big Island of Tierra del Fuego and the island of the States, and the southern maritime spaces that reach the 60º South parallel. The base jurisdiction also extends to the nearby Ushuaia Naval Naval Base, Rio Grande Naval Air Base and the Puerto Deseado Naval Base.

Ushuaia Aeroclub (Spanish: Aeroclub Ushuaia, ICAO: SAWO) is a public use airport serving Ushuaia, a city in the Tierra del Fuego Province of Argentina. The airport is along the western shore of Ushuaia Bay, a harbor on the northern coast of the Beagle Channel. The runway has 50 metres (160 ft) paved overruns on each end. Approach and departures will be partially over the water. The Aeroclub previously served as Ushuaia's international airport before the opening of Ushuaia – Malvinas Argentinas International Airport in 1995, whose east-west runway is only 1.6 kilometres (1 mi) directly south of the Aeroclub runway. The Ushuaia VOR (Ident: USU) is located 1.2 nautical miles (2 km) southeast of the airport. The Puerto Williams VOR-DME (Ident: PWL) is located 24.5 nautical miles (45 km) east-southeast of the Aeroclub Airport.

Ushuaia Department (Spanish: Departamento Ushuaia) is a department of Argentina in Tierra del Fuego Province, Argentina. The capital city of the department is situated in Ushuaia. Off the eastern end of the main island is Isla de los Estados (English: Staten Island, from the Dutch Stateneiland).

The National University of the Patagonia San Juan Bosco (Spanish: Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia San Juan Bosco) is a higher education establishment in Patagonia, southern Argentina. It was created on February 25, 1980, by law 22.713, as the merge of two national universities: the "Universidad de San Juan Bosco" and "Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia". It is named after San Juan Bosco, patron saint of the area. The university has four schools - Engineering, Economy, Humanities, Legal, and Natural Sciences, spread over several cities in Patagonia: Puerto Madryn, Trelew, Esquel, Comodoro Rivadavia, and Ushuaia. The central faculty is located in Comodoro Rivadavia. The University has as of 2005 14,000 students, with 5000 in the main school. In 2015, the university opened to the inhabitants of the Falkland Islands. The academic program was translated into English, language courses were designed and a system of special scholarship was established. Thus, National University of the Patagonia San Juan Bosco became the first Argentine university to extend their academic offer to Falkland Islanders.

Colegio Nacional de Ushuaia (National College of Ushuaia) is a college preparatory school sponsored by the prestigious Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires in Argentina. Both provide a free, rigorous, multi-disciplinary education that includes classical languages. The Colegio Nacional de Ushuaia was established in March 1994, as a response for the demand emerging from the growing population in Tierra del Fuego.

Ushuaia – Malvinas Argentinas International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional de Ushuaia Malvinas Argentinas, IATA: USH, ICAO: SAWH) is located 4 km (2.5 mi) south of the center of Ushuaia, a city on the island of Tierra del Fuego in the Tierra del Fuego Province of Argentina.

Puerto Golondrina is a suburb of the City of Ushuaia, capital of the Tierra del Fuego Province, Argentina, located just west of the city centre near the Airport. It was first established as a military prison but after the prison was merged with the main prison in Ushuaia in 1910, Puerto Golondrina continued as a fishing port. Today it is part of the outer suburbs of Ushuaia, has several Hotels and it is generally referred to as "Bahia Golondrina", the small Bay that has the Ushuaia International Airport as its southern shoreline and the Golondrina suburb as its northern shoreline.

The Martial Mountains are a mountain range in Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, an island of Argentina and Chile. The mountain range is located east of Cordillera Darwin, just north of Ushuaia city in Argentina, along the Beagle Channel strait.

The Southern Fuegian Railway (Spanish: Ferrocarril Austral Fueguino (FCAF)) or the Train of the End of the World (Spanish: El Tren del Fin del Mundo) is a 500 mm (19+3⁄4 in) gauge steam railway in Tierra del Fuego Province, Argentina. It was originally built as a freight line to serve the prison of Ushuaia, specifically to transport timber. It now operates as a heritage railway into the Tierra del Fuego National Park and is considered the southernmost functioning railway in the world.

The Carbajal Valley (Spanish: Valle Carbajal) is a valley in the Fuegian Andes of southern Tierra del Fuego Province, Argentina. The Carbajal valley is approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) long, running west to east, between the Alvear mountain range to the north and the Vinciguerra range to the south. Andes peak heights in the region are generally less than 1,250 metres (4,100 ft) above sea level.Argentine Route 3 runs diagonally through Ushuaia (SW-NE) along the Río Olivia past the west base of Mount Olivia and around the northwestern and northern base of Monte Cinco Hermanos.
