Saugus Speedway is a 1/3 mile racetrack in Saugus, Santa Clarita, California on a 35-acre (140,000 m2) site. The track hosted one NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event in 1995, which was won by Ken Schrader. Schrader became the first NASCAR driver to win in a race in all three of the sanctioning body's major series, following previous wins in the Winston Cup and Busch Grand National Series. The stadium was closed on July 19, 1995 and no longer holds races.

Santa Clarita (; Spanish for "Little St. Clare") is a city in northwestern Los Angeles County, California. With a 2020 census population of 228,673, it is the third-largest city by population in Los Angeles County, and the 17th-largest in the state of California. It is located about 30 miles (48 km) northwest of downtown Los Angeles, and occupies 70.75 square miles (183.2 km2) of land in the Santa Clarita Valley, along the Santa Clara River. It is a notable example of a U.S. edge city, satellite city, or boomburb.Human settlement of the Santa Clarita Valley dates back to the arrival of the Chumash people, who were displaced by the Tataviam circa 450 AD. After Spanish colonists arrived in Alta California, the Rancho San Francisco was established, covering much of the Santa Clarita Valley. Henry Mayo Newhall purchased the Rancho San Francisco in 1875 and established the towns of Saugus and Newhall. The Newhall Land and Farming Company played a major role in the city's development. In December 1987, the city of Santa Clarita was incorporated, encompassing the communities of Canyon Country, Newhall, Saugus, and Valencia. The four communities retain separate identities, and residents commonly refer to one of them when asked where they are from. Santa Clarita is bounded on the west by the Golden State Freeway (I-5). The Antelope Valley Freeway (CA-14) runs northeast–southwest forming part of the city's irregular east boundary. The two freeways meet at Newhall Pass, near the city's southernmost point. Santa Clarita is home to three institutions of higher education: California Institute of the Arts, an internationally renowned art university; The Master's University, a Christian liberal arts university; and College of the Canyons, a community college. Companies headquartered in or near the city include Princess Cruises, Sunkist, Remo, and the Newhall Land and Farming Company. Santa Clarita has a low crime rate and high-ranking schools, and is one of the state's fastest-growing cities. The unincorporated communities of Castaic and Stevenson Ranch, located to the north and west of the Santa Clarita city limits, respectively, are closely associated with the city. Six Flags Magic Mountain, though commonly thought to be in the Valencia part of Santa Clarita, is also west of Interstate 5 and outside of the Santa Clarita city limits.

The Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) is part of the upper watershed of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,673 ha) Rancho San Francisco Mexican land grant. Located in Los Angeles County, its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita which includes the communities of Canyon Country, Newhall, Saugus, and Valencia. Adjacent unincorporated communities include Castaic, Stevenson Ranch, Val Verde, and the unincorporated parts of Valencia.

The William S. Hart Union High School District (commonly referred to simply as the Hart District) is a school district in the Santa Clarita Valley of Los Angeles County, California. It serves all of the valley's high school students (grades 9–12) and most of its junior high school students (grades 7–8). As of 2019–20, the total number of enrolled students (in 16 schools) was 23,968. The district's superintendent is Mike Kuhlman. The district is named after William S. Hart, one of the first western film stars, who lived in Newhall and was a local benefactor. The region served by the Hart District is also served by the Sulphur Springs, Saugus, Castaic, and Newhall elementary school districts.

Central Park is a large municipal park located near the geographic center of Santa Clarita, California. The park was developed on 105 acres (42 ha) of land leased by the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency to the City of Santa Clarita. It is accessible via Bouquet Canyon Road, which parallels Bouquet Creek along the northern edge of the park.

Soledad Canyon is a long narrow canyon/valley located in Los Angeles County, California between the cities of Palmdale and Santa Clarita. It is a part of the Santa Clara River Valley, and extends from the top of Soledad Pass to the open plain of the valley in Santa Clarita. The upstream section of the Santa Clara River runs through it.

Saugus is a neighborhood in Santa Clarita, California. It was one of four communities (with Valencia, Newhall and Canyon Country) that merged in 1987 to create the city of Santa Clarita. Saugus includes the central and north-central portions of the city. It is named after Saugus, Massachusetts, the hometown of Henry Newhall, upon whose land the town was originally built.

On November 14, 2019, at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, California, United States, a school shooting occurred when a student with a pistol, identified as 16-year-old Nathaniel Berhow, shot five schoolmates, killing two, before killing himself.

Harry Carey's former home is now Tesoro Adobe Historic Park; he appeared in over 250 films. His son Harry Carey Jr. was a well known character actor. More modern audiences will recognize Cesar Milan, celebrity dog trainer whose facility is in northern Santa Clarita; and Naya Rivera, star of Glee, whose life was tragically cut short. Santa Clarita is a powerhouse in modern times for athletics. Indycar racer Colton Herta, and his father Bryan Herta, both hail from Santa Clarita. Shane Vereen has a super bowl ring from his time with the New England Patriots. Santa Clarita is well known for baseball, and her high schools have produced many major league players. Three World Series champions - Kevin Millar, known for helping the Red Sox break their curse by playing in the world series, Mike Montgomery, who saved game 7 of his series for the Chicago Cubs, and Bob Walk, rookie winning pitcher in game 1 of his series. World Series participants include Tyler Glasnow, currently a pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and a 2024 all star; Trevor Bauer, an all star and Cy Young Award winner; James Shields, who played in 2008 for the Tampa Bay Rays, then in 2014 for the Kansas City Royals; Danny Worth, current coach of the Waves at Pepperdine University; and Todd Zeile, who shares with Tommy Milone the distinction of having played for 11 teams in his career. Santa Clarita has also produced several Olympians, including Crystl Bustos, two-time gold medal winner with the softball team as a designated hitter; Alysia Montaño, track and field star with a bronze medal in 2012; Cory Snyder, part of the 1984 silver medal team for baseball; and Abbey Weitzeil, a swimmer with six Olympic medals.

Takuyumam is a former Chumashan settlement in Los Angeles County, California. Its former location is now the site of Newhall.
