Waimea Canyon, also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, is a large canyon, approximately ten miles (16 km) long and up to 3,000 feet (900 m) deep, located on the western side of Kauaʻi in the Hawaiian Islands of the United States. Waimea is Hawaiian for "reddish water", a reference to the erosion of the canyon's red soil. The canyon was formed by a deep incision of the Waimea River arising from the extreme rainfall on the island's central peak, Mount Waiʻaleʻale, among the wettest places on earth.

The Kōkeʻe Ditch is an irrigation canal on the island of Kauaʻi. In 1923, construction began on the Kōkeʻe Ditch system to open the mauka hills to sugar cane production. By 1926, the Kōkeʻe Ditch was completed, diverting water from Mohihi Stream and the headwaters of the Waimea River in the Alakaʻi Swamp at an altitude of about 3400 feet. About one-fourth of the Kōkeʻe Ditch supply irrigated the highland sugar cane fields below Puʻu ʻŌpae reservoir on Niu Ridge, and the balance irrigated the highland fields east of Kōkeʻe Road.

The Waimea Ditch is an irrigation canal on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. In 1903, the Waimea Ditch was dug to divert water from the Waimea River to nearby sugar cane fields. Construction of Waimea Ditch was completed in 1907. During 1911–1912, George Ewart, the manager of the Waimea Sugar Company, reconfigured the Waimea Ditch by replacing the iron flumes with tunnels to increase its flow capacity.

Kīkīaola is a historic irrigation ditch (ʻauwai) located near Waimea on the island of Kauai in the U.S. state of Hawaii. Also known as "Menehune Ditch" or "Peekauai Ditch," it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 16, 1984. It is purported to have been built by the Menehune. Hawaiians built many stone-lined ʻauwai to irrigate ponds for growing taro (kalo), but very rarely employed dressed stone to line ditches. The 120 finely cut basalt blocks that line about 200 feet of the outer wall of the Menehune Ditch make it not just exceptional, but "the acme of stone-faced ditches" in the words of archaeologist Wendell C. Bennett.The site shares its name with a harbor near Waimea.

The Charles Gay House, on Gay Road in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii, was built in 1895. It has also been known as the Roland Gay Residence. It was listed on the Hawaiʻi Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1984; the NRHP listing included three contributing buildings.

The Alakaʻi Wilderness Preserve, popularly known as Alakaʻi Swamp, is a montane wet forest on the Hawaiian island of Kauaʻi. Although the preserve is home to alpine bogs, it is not a true swamp. It is located on a plateau near Mount Waiʻaleʻale, one of the wettest spots on Earth. Due to its unique combination of high elevation and climate, the Alakaʻi Swamp harbors a large number of endangered endemic species that are only found in this area and whose population has been dramatically declining over the last decades. It is designated as a IUCN protected area.

Keanapuka Mountain is a mountain located on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai. It rises 4,000 ft above the ocean floor and is located near the border of Na Pali Coast State Park. Due to its location, the mountain receives intense amounts of rain.

Polihale State Park is a remote wild beach on the western side of the Hawaiian island of Kauai. It is the most western publicly accessible area in Hawaii, although the privately owned island of Niihau is farther west. The park is miles away from the town of Kekaha, and it can only be reached via a poorly marked, dirt sugarcane road, making a four-wheel drive vehicle preferable. The beach is several miles long, yet only the area known as "Queen's Pond" offers safe swimming.

The Gulick-Rowell House, on Missionary Row in Waimea, on Kauai, in Hawaii, is a historic house that is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It is located across from Waimea Canyon Middle School, on way to Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, first built 1829 by Rev. Peter Johnson Gulick, completed by Rev. George Rowell in 1846. It was built of coral limestone cut from reefs offshore and floated in.It was listed on the Hawaiʻi Register of Historic Places in 1977 and on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The Bishop National Bank of Hawaii was a bank in Hawaii. Its branch building on Hawaii Route 50 in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii, was built in 1929. That branch building has also been known as First Hawaiian Bank, as Bishop National Bank, Waimea Branch, and as Bishop First National Bank, Waimea Branch. The building includes Classical Revival architecture and was a work of architect John Mason and of J.L. Young Engineering Co. The building was listed on the Hawaiʻi Register of Historic Places in 1977 and on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1978.The building replaced a 1911 building that had been the second Bishop National Bank branch, after the first built in Hilo. According to its NRHP nomination, the building "is important mainly for its architectural value. Its eclectic style and solid, imposing appearance is typical of post-World War I banking architecture. It is designed to give an aura of permanence and stability--a visual assurance to Waimea's inhabitants that the bank was 'here to stay.'": 3  The building is now a First Hawaiian Bank branch.

Nā Pali Coast State Park is a 6,175-acre (2,499 ha) state park in the U.S. state of Hawaii, located in the center of the rugged 16-mile (26 km) northwest side of Kauaʻi, the second-oldest inhabited Hawaiian island. The Nā Pali coast itself extends southwest from Keʻe Beach all the way to Polihale State Park. The nā pali (high cliffs) along the shoreline rise as much as 4,000 feet (1,200 m) above the Pacific Ocean. The state park was formed to protect the Kalalau Valley. To the east of the state park is the Hono O Nā Pali State Natural Reserve. It was established in 1983 and later extended to over 3,578 acres (14.5 km2) in 2009. Hiking trails and hunters' roads provide access to the sharp ridges from Koke'e Road (route 550) in Waimea Canyon.

Waimea High School is a public high school in Waimea on the island of Kauaʻi in the state of Hawaii. It was established in 1881 and serves grades 9 through 12. It is the westernmost high school in the United States of America. The school mascot is the Menehune, and the school colors are blue and white. The campus displays the mixed media sculpture Hoʻolilo by Ralph Kouchi and the stainless steel sculpture Waimea Ohana by Rowland Morita.Waimea High School is the oldest high school on the island of Kauai. Notable alumni from Waimea High School include former NFL player Jordon Dizon and Nā Hōkū Hanohano winning rapper Thomas Iannucci.
