Newmarket GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling club in Newmarket, County Cork, Ireland which is part of the parish of Newmarket, Taur. Newmarket's football team competes in the Cork Senior A Football Championship and its hurling team competes in the Duhallow Junior A Hurling Championship.

Duhallow (Irish: Dúiche Ealla) is a barony located in the north-western part of County Cork, Ireland.

Meelin (Irish: An Mhaoilinn, meaning 'bare, flat-topped hillock') is a village in northern County Cork, barony of Duhallow, Ireland. The village is near the border with County Limerick and County Kerry. Meelin is within the Cork North-West (Dáil constituency). At 251 metres (823 ft) above sea level, Meelin is the highest village in Ireland, although Glencullen in County Dublin also claims to be the highest at about 251.5 metres (825 ft).

Meelin GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club is based in Meelin, Cork, Ireland and is part of the Rockchapel and Meelin parish. The club is affiliated with the Duhallow division of Cork GAA and has both a hurling and a Gaelic football team. Until recently, the club did not have a Gaelic football team within the football area represented by Knockscovane GAA Club, which took part in Duhallow division until its amalgamation with Meelin GAA club. Meelin juvenile footballers play with St. Peter's which is an amalgamation of the Meelin, Freemount and Rockchapel clubs at juvenile level. In 2009 Meelin won the Duhallow Junior A Hurling Championship for the first time in 13 years. In 2010, they followed this up with consecutive titles defeating Kilbrin in 2010. This was the start of the club's resurgence that led them to the All-Ireland Junior Final in Croke Park. Meelin won the final with a final score of 0–12 to 1–5 over John Locke's of Kilkenny.

Boherbue (post office spelling) or Boherboy (Ordnance Survey spelling) (Irish: An Bóthar Buí, meaning 'the yellow road') is a village in north-west County Cork, Ireland. The village is in the civil parish of Kilmeen in the Barony of Duhallow, and spans the townlands of Gneeves, Laharan and Derrynatubbrid. Boherbue is within the Cork North-West Dáil constituency.

Derrinagree, also spelled Dernagree and Derinagree, (Irish: Doire na Graí, meaning 'oakwood of the cattle') is a small village in north west of County Cork, Ireland. It is in civil parish of Dromtarrife in the barony of Duhallow.

Glenlara GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the rural area of Taur, Newmarket, County Cork, Ireland. The club plays Gaelic football in the Duhallow division competitions. Glenlara GAA Club was founded in 1939 by D.A. Daly, P.Shine and R O'Keeffe. Other clubs in the Glenlara area include Newmarket, Boherbue and Kiskeam. In recent years Glenlara GAA have established a permanent home at the old school in Glashykinleen which is central to Taur and Glenlara area. The old Glashykinleen school is now their changing rooms and they have developed a playing pitch adjacent to this. Glenlara won the Duhallow Junior B Football Championship Final Group 2 in 2011 and again in 2013.

Founded in 1882 Kanturk GAA is a dual Senior Gaelic Athletic Association club with Gaelic football and hurling teams, based in the town of Kanturk, County Cork, Ireland which forms part of the parish of Kanturk and Lismire. It is affiliated with Cork GAA and plays in Duhallow division competitions. The club's hurling team currently competes in the Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship having won the Cork Senior A Hurling Championship in 2021. In 2017, the club won the Cork Intermediate Championship, the Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship and the All Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship. Kanturk hurlers also compete in Division 1 of the Cork Club Hurling League. The club's Gaelic football team competes in the Cork Senior A Football Championship having won the Cork Premier Intermediate Football Championship in 2022.

Kanturk (Irish: Ceann Toirc, meaning 'boar's head') is a town in the north west of County Cork, Ireland. It is situated at the confluence of the Allua (Allow) and Dallow (Dalua) rivers, which stream further on as tributaries to the River Blackwater. It is about 50 kilometres (31 miles) from Cork and Limerick, and lies just north of the main N72 road, 15 km (9 miles) from Mallow and about 40 km (25 miles) from Killarney. Kanturk is within the Cork North-West Dáil constituency.

Knockacarracoush or Knockacarracoosh (Irish: Cnoc an Chearrbhachais) is a small townland situated in north County Cork, Ireland, west of Kanturk and north of Millstreet. It is in the parish of Dromtarriff and also borders the parishes of Cullen and Boherbue. It has 14 inhabitants and consists of three farms and four houses.
