Meelin

Meelin GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club is based in Meelin, Cork, Ireland and is part of the Rockchapel and Meelin parish. The club is affiliated with the Duhallow division of Cork GAA and has both a hurling and a Gaelic football team. Until recently, the club did not have a Gaelic football team within the football area represented by Knockscovane GAA Club, which took part in Duhallow division until its amalgamation with Meelin GAA club. Meelin juvenile footballers play with St. Peter's which is an amalgamation of the Meelin, Freemount and Rockchapel clubs at juvenile level. In 2009 Meelin won the Duhallow Junior A Hurling Championship for the first time in 13 years. In 2010, they followed this up with consecutive titles defeating Kilbrin in 2010. This was the start of the club's resurgence that led them to the All-Ireland Junior Final in Croke Park. Meelin won the final with a final score of 0–12 to 1–5 over John Locke's of Kilkenny.

Newmarket, historically known as Aghatrasna (Irish: Áth Trasna), is a town in the barony of Duhallow, County Cork, Ireland. It is situated at the junction of the R576 and R578 regional roads. Newmarket is within the Cork North-West Dáil constituency

Newmarket GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling club in Newmarket, County Cork, Ireland which is part of the parish of Newmarket, Taur. Newmarket's football team competes in the Cork Senior A Football Championship and its hurling team competes in the Duhallow Junior A Hurling Championship.

Duhallow (Irish: Dúiche Ealla) is a barony located in the north-western part of County Cork, Ireland.

Glenlara GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the rural area of Taur, Newmarket, County Cork, Ireland. The club plays Gaelic football in the Duhallow division competitions. Glenlara GAA Club was founded in 1939 by D.A. Daly, P.Shine and R O'Keeffe. Other clubs in the Glenlara area include Newmarket, Boherbue and Kiskeam. In recent years Glenlara GAA have established a permanent home at the old school in Glashykinleen which is central to Taur and Glenlara area. The old Glashykinleen school is now their changing rooms and they have developed a playing pitch adjacent to this. Glenlara won the Duhallow Junior B Football Championship Final Group 2 in 2011 and again in 2013.

Rockchapel (Irish: Séipéal na Carraige, meaning "chapel of the rocks") is a village in north County Cork in Ireland. It is located near the border of counties Cork, Kerry and Limerick. Rockchapel is within the Dáil constituency of Cork North-West. Much of the land close to the village is planted with coniferous trees, mainly of lodgepole pine and Sitka spruce. This was largely facilitated by financial funding from the national forestry company Coillte through its grant support scheme. The local GAA club is Rockchapel GAA which fields Gaelic football teams in Duhallow division competitions.The local church is dedicated to Saint Peter and was built c. 1830. Rockchapel forms half a parish in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cloyne, the other half of the parish being Meelin.The village got its name from the penal times when Catholic religious services were banned. Mass was said on a rock in a remote area.Rockchapel has two pubs, one shop, a community centre, church, funeral home and graveyard. As of 2018, the local national (primary) school had 41 pupils enrolled.The headwaters of the River Feale rise approximately 4.3 km northeast of the village between the townlands of Rockhill West, Rockhill East and Tooreenmacauliffe on the southwestern slopes of Mullaghareirk mountain.

Boherbue (post office spelling) or Boherboy (Ordnance Survey spelling) (Irish: An Bóthar Buí, meaning 'the yellow road') is a village in north-west County Cork, Ireland. The village is in the civil parish of Kilmeen in the Barony of Duhallow, and spans the townlands of Gneeves, Laharan and Derrynatubbrid. Boherbue is within the Cork North-West Dáil constituency.

The Mullaghareirk Mountains (from Irish: Mullach an Radhairc, meaning "the summit of the view") is a range of hills in Ireland on the borders of County Cork, County Kerry and County Limerick. The area is also known as Sliabh Luachra (sometimes anglicised 'Slieve Logher'). The highest point is Baraveha (Barr an Bheithe) at 451 metres (1,480 ft). It is bordered by the Blackwater valley to the south, Castleisland to the west, Athea to the north and the Deel valley to the east. Villages in the hills include Rockchapel, Ballydesmond, Brosna, Gneevgullia, Mountcollins, Newmarket, Meelin and Tournafulla. The Allaughaun River, a tributary of the River Feale, rises at the east end of the range.

Killeedy (Irish: Cill Íde) is a civil parish located south of Newcastle West in Co. Limerick in Ireland. This parish consists of two villages, Ashford and Raheenagh. The elevation of the parish varies from 1,184 ft. OS at Mauricetown and 1,082 ft. at Dromdeeveen to 200 ft. OS at Ballintubber. The parish is overlooked by the Mullaghareirk Mountains. The patron saint of Killeedy is Saint Ita. Killeedy used to be known as Cluain Chreadhail but in later ages it had taken the name of Cill íde, the Church of Saint Ita, from a nunnery which was founded there in the sixth century. On 15 January of each year, the feast of St. Ita's Day is celebrated in Killeedy.

Feohanagh (Irish: An Fheothanach) is a village in the parish of Mahoonagh, south west County Limerick in Ireland. The village is 5 miles (8 km) south east of the town of Newcastle West, County Limerick on the R522 regional road to Dromcollogher. It is the only village on that road.
