Howrah Beach is a 1.2 km (1 mi) stretch of recreational beach situated along the River Derwent in Howrah, a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The south-facing beach neighbours Bellerive Beach to the west and is bookended by Howrah Point to the east. The beach has views of the Derwent estuary, the neighbouring suburb of Tranmere, Sandy Bay on the western shore, and southern views of South Arm, Tinderbox and the northern tip of Bruny Island. Howrah Beach is backed by a narrow tree-lined reserve and private properties, the Clarence Foreshore Trail, Clarence High School adjoining Wentworth Park, Howrah Community Centre, Howrah Men's Shed and the Sunshine Tennis Club.

Clarence High School is a government co-educational comprehensive junior secondary school located in Bellerive, a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Established in 1959, the school caters for approximately 600 students from Years 7 to 10. The school is administered by the Tasmanian Department of Education. In 2021 student enrolments were 603. The school principal is Alanna Green.

As one of the Tasman Highway's principle Feeders and one of the eastern shore's major transport corridors, The South Arm Highway facilitates the movement of traffic between the suburbs and satellite communities to the south with the city centre and ultimately, other major cross city highways. With annual average daily traffic (AADT) of 17,000, the highway is considered a major traffic corridor within Hobart. The designation "South Arm Highway" arises from its journey south (via Rokeby Road) to South Arm.

The 2021 Census recorded a population of 9,545 for the state suburb of Howrah. It is a suburb of the City of Clarence. It is east of Bellerive and north of Tranmere. Howrah is a beachside suburb, with views across the Derwent River to Hobart City. Clarence Street runs through the centre of the suburb separating the hillside section from the beachside. Howrah has a number of parks including Wentworth Park, which is one of the key sport (such as soccer, field hockey and touch football) and recreation areas on the Eastern Shore. Clarence High School is generally thought to be in Howrah, due to it being located east of Wentworth Street, however it is in Bellerive. Howrah has a primary school.Shoreline Shopping Centre is the largest shopping centre in Howrah.

The electoral division of Pembroke is one of the 15 electorates or 'seats' in the Tasmanian Legislative Council or upper house. Bellerive Oval, known commercially as Blundstone Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a cricket and Australian rules football ground located in Bellerive, a suburb on the eastern shore of Hobart, Australia, holding 20,000 people it is the largest capacity stadium in Tasmania. It is the only venue in Tasmania which hosts international cricket matches. The venue is the home ground for the state cricket teams, the Tasmanian Tigers and Hobart Hurricanes, as well as a venue for international Test matches since 1989 and one-day matches since 1988. It is also the secondary home ground for AFL club North Melbourne, who play three home games a season at the venue. The stadium has undergone significant redevelopment to accommodate such events.

MacKillop Catholic College is an independent Roman Catholic co-educational college for Years 7 to 11 in the Hobart suburb of Mornington, Tasmania, Australia. The College is named in honour of the Australian educationalist, nun and co-founder of the Institute of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart, Mary MacKillop. The college also has an association with the Christian Brothers founded by Edmund Rice. MacKillop and Rice are key sources of inspiration for the school community. MacKillop Catholic College is the only Catholic secondary college servicing Hobart's eastern shore. The college is a member of the Sports Association of Tasmanian Independent Schools.

The locality is about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) north-east of the town of Rosny Park. The 2016 census recorded a population of 2265 for the state suburb of Mornington.It is a suburb of the City of Clarence. It is part of greater Hobart, located approximately 7 kilometres from the CBD. It is located between Warrane and Cambridge, is nearby to Mount Rumney and runs parallel to the Tasman Highway. Mornington is a primarily residential suburb, although it is also home to the Mornington Industrial Estate and is served by Rosny Park for commercial services. The main facilities are Clarence Council Depot, Main Roads and Transport Depot, a Service Tasmania vehicle inspection facility, a Fire and Ambulance Service, and MacKillop College.

Eastside Lutheran College (ELC) is located in Warrane, Tasmania, in Australia. It is a co-educational Lutheran college, catering for Kindergarten to Year 12. ELC has approximately 400 students. When St Peter's Lutheran school was relocated to Warrane, it expanded to become a primary and secondary school under the current name.
