MacKillop Catholic College is an independent Roman Catholic co-educational college for Years 7 to 11 in the Hobart suburb of Mornington, Tasmania, Australia. The College is named in honour of the Australian educationalist, nun and co-founder of the Institute of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart, Mary MacKillop. The college also has an association with the Christian Brothers founded by Edmund Rice. MacKillop and Rice are key sources of inspiration for the school community. MacKillop Catholic College is the only Catholic secondary college servicing Hobart's eastern shore. The college is a member of the Sports Association of Tasmanian Independent Schools.

The South Arm Highway (part of the B33 road route) is a highway serving the southern suburbs of Hobart, on the eastern shore of the River Derwent in Tasmania, Australia. The highway is a major trunk road that carries heavy commuter traffic south from the Eastern Outlet to Howrah and Rokeby. As one of the Tasman Highway's principle Feeders and one of the eastern shore's major transport corridors, The South Arm Highway facilitates the movement of traffic between the suburbs and satellite communities to the south with the city centre and ultimately, other major cross city highways. With annual average daily traffic (AADT) of 17,000, the highway is considered a major traffic corridor within Hobart. The designation "South Arm Highway" arises from its journey south (via Rokeby Road) to South Arm.

Eastside Lutheran College (ELC) is located in Warrane, Tasmania, in Australia. It is a co-educational Lutheran college, catering for Kindergarten to Year 12. ELC has approximately 400 students. When St Peter's Lutheran school was relocated to Warrane, it expanded to become a primary and secondary school under the current name.

The electoral division of Pembroke is one of the 15 electorates or 'seats' in the Tasmanian Legislative Council or upper house. It is located on Hobart's Eastern Shore (east side of the Derwent River) and includes a number of suburbs; Risdon Vale, Geilston Bay, Rose Bay, Lindisfarne, Warrane, Mornington, Bellerive, Howrah and Tranmere. In earlier times, the division included most of the east coast of Tasmania as far north as Bicheno, including the Tasman Peninsula. The electorate takes its name from a county which was created in Tasmania by early British settlers. The division and the former county both took their name from Pembrokeshire in Wales.

Wentworth Park is the home ground of Clarence Zebras FC, but can be used by other teams in other sports such as touch football, and Ultimate Frisbee tournaments. In the summer it is used as a cricket ground. It is a picturesque facility located adjacent to Howrah Beach and allows for views across the River Derwent. The facility is served by three main pitches, as well as a training ground and a touch pitch. In the early 1990s Clarence United FC (then called Phoenix) upgraded the clubrooms, bar, and changing room facilities. The headquarters for Tasmanian Touch Association and the offices and grounds of Southern Touch, where they hold summer and winter rosters on up to 10 touch fields. The ground is not owned by the Clarence United FC, but is a Clarence City Council facility who lease the ground to the club on a long-term basis on the proviso that other sports be permitted to share the facilities with Clarence United FC. The site was originally coastal lagoons, and the city council had historically used the site as landfill rubbish tip. In 2003, the ground was featured in the media on ABC Stateline, when local residents suggested that DDTs, and other Organochlorides had been used to control vermin and mosquitoes when the site was a rubbish dump, and that these chemicals were responsible for higher than usual rates of diseases such as cancer in the area. An investigation was carried out, collecting soil, groundwater and soil gas data. An environmental assessment report was published in response, suggesting that the human health risk posed by latent chemicals was negligible.

Empire Couriers Park the formally known Warrior Park is the home ground of association football club Olympia FC Warriors who play in the NPL Tasmania. Warrior Park is situated in the Greater Hobart suburb of Warrane.

Clarence High School is a government co-educational comprehensive junior secondary school located in Bellerive, a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Established in 1959, the school caters for approximately 600 students from Years 7 to 10. The school is administered by the Tasmanian Department of Education. In 2021 student enrolments were 603. The school principal is Alanna Green.

Howrah Beach is a 1.2 km (1 mi) stretch of recreational beach situated along the River Derwent in Howrah, a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The south-facing beach neighbours Bellerive Beach to the west and is bookended by Howrah Point to the east. The beach has views of the Derwent estuary, the neighbouring suburb of Tranmere, Sandy Bay on the western shore, and southern views of South Arm, Tinderbox and the northern tip of Bruny Island. Howrah Beach is backed by a narrow tree-lined reserve and private properties, the Clarence Foreshore Trail, Clarence High School adjoining Wentworth Park, Howrah Community Centre, Howrah Men's Shed and the Sunshine Tennis Club.

Warrane is a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, within the City of Clarence local government area. It is approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) from Hobart's CBD. It is located between Rosny Park and Mornington and runs parallel to the Tasman Highway. Warrane is a primarily residential suburb, and is served by Rosny Park for commercial services. Public facilities include Warrane Primary School, Clarence Campus of The Tasmanian Polytechnic and the Tasmanian Academy (formerly TAFE Tasmania). St. Peter's Lutheran Church is located there.

Warrane Barracks is an Australian Army barracks in the Hobart suburb of Mornington. It is the home of several units including: Former home to B Coy, 12th/40th Battalion Royal Tasmania Regiment, prior to their move to Derwent Barracks in 2018. 60 Army Cadet Unit, Australian Army Cadets

Howrah is a residential locality in the local government area (LGA) of Clarence in the Hobart LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) south-east of the town of Rosny Park. The 2021 Census recorded a population of 9,545 for the state suburb of Howrah. It is a suburb of the City of Clarence. It is east of Bellerive and north of Tranmere. Howrah is a beachside suburb, with views across the Derwent River to Hobart City. Clarence Street runs through the centre of the suburb separating the hillside section from the beachside. Howrah has a number of parks including Wentworth Park, which is one of the key sport (such as soccer, field hockey and touch football) and recreation areas on the Eastern Shore. Clarence High School is generally thought to be in Howrah, due to it being located east of Wentworth Street, however it is in Bellerive. Howrah has a primary school.Shoreline Shopping Centre is the largest shopping centre in Howrah.

The Canopus Hill Observatory, located approximately 12 km from Hobart in Tasmania, Australia, is an optical astronomy observatory belonging to the University of Tasmania (UTAS). Due to the high southern latitude, the Canopus Hill Observatory is able to observe and study the Magellanic Clouds. However, the observatory has closed down due to the "encroaching light pollution from the Hobart suburbs". According to the Astronomical Society, light pollution reduces the vision of the night sky, becoming a "major menace to amateur and professional astronomers alike".
