Barking Sands Beach is a dune landscape of the Polihale Beach on the west coast of Kaua’i in the U.S. state of Hawaii. You can hear a barking noise, when the sand moves.

WWVH is the callsign of the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology's shortwave radio time signal station located at the Barking Sands Missile Range, in Kekaha, on the island of Kauai in the state of Hawaii. WWVH is the Pacific sister station to WWV, and has a similar broadcast format. Like WWV, WWVH's main function is the dissemination of official U.S. Government time, through exactly the same methods as found on WWV's signal. To minimize interference with the WWV broadcasts on the same frequencies, WWVH's broadcasts on 5, 10 and 15 MHz are directional, pointed primarily west. Despite this strategy, in certain places, particularly on the west coast of North America; and at certain times, due to ionospheric conditions, the listener can actually hear both WWV and WWVH on the same frequency at the same time. The information modulated on the carrier is modified to reduce confusion if both are received simultaneously. In particular, voice announcements on one correspond to silent periods on the other. WWVH uses a female voice (Jane Barbe) to distinguish itself from WWV, which uses a male voice. WWVH time signals can also be accessed by telephone.

Polihale State Park is a remote wild beach on the western side of the Hawaiian island of Kauai. It is the most western publicly accessible area in Hawaii, although the privately owned island of Niihau is farther west. The park is miles away from the town of Kekaha, and it can only be reached via a poorly marked, dirt sugarcane road, making a four-wheel drive vehicle preferable. The beach is several miles long, yet only the area known as "Queen's Pond" offers safe swimming.

Kekaha (literally, "the place" in Hawaiian) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kauaʻi County, Hawaiʻi, United States. The population was 3,715 at the 2020 census, up from 3,175 at the 2000 census.

Niihau School of Kekaha (NSK, Hawaiian: Hale Kula Niihau o Kekaha), also known as Ke Kula Niihau O Kekaha Learning Center (KKNOK), is a K-12 charter school in Kekaha, Kauai, Hawaii, United States, catering to Niihau people living on Kauai.According to Christine Hitt of Hawai'i Magazine, the school is trying to keep the Niihau language alive due to a growing Niihau diaspora in Kauai, where the dominant languages are instead English and Hawaiian Pidgin.

The Waimea Ditch is an irrigation canal on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. In 1903, the Waimea Ditch was dug to divert water from the Waimea River to nearby sugar cane fields. Construction of Waimea Ditch was completed in 1907. During 1911–1912, George Ewart, the manager of the Waimea Sugar Company, reconfigured the Waimea Ditch by replacing the iron flumes with tunnels to increase its flow capacity.

The Kōkeʻe Ditch is an irrigation canal on the island of Kauaʻi. In 1923, construction began on the Kōkeʻe Ditch system to open the mauka hills to sugar cane production. By 1926, the Kōkeʻe Ditch was completed, diverting water from Mohihi Stream and the headwaters of the Waimea River in the Alakaʻi Swamp at an altitude of about 3400 feet. About one-fourth of the Kōkeʻe Ditch supply irrigated the highland sugar cane fields below Puʻu ʻŌpae reservoir on Niu Ridge, and the balance irrigated the highland fields east of Kōkeʻe Road.

Waimea Canyon, also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, is a large canyon, approximately ten miles (16 km) long and up to 3,000 feet (900 m) deep, located on the western side of Kauaʻi in the Hawaiian Islands of the United States. Waimea is Hawaiian for "reddish water", a reference to the erosion of the canyon's red soil. The canyon was formed by a deep incision of the Waimea River arising from the extreme rainfall on the island's central peak, Mount Waiʻaleʻale, among the wettest places on earth.

The Gulick-Rowell House, on Missionary Row in Waimea, on Kauai, in Hawaii, is a historic house that is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It is located across from Waimea Canyon Middle School, on way to Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, first built 1829 by Rev. Peter Johnson Gulick, completed by Rev. George Rowell in 1846. It was built of coral limestone cut from reefs offshore and floated in.It was listed on the Hawaiʻi Register of Historic Places in 1977 and on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

KRKW-LP is a non-profit radio station in Waimea, Kauai County, Hawaii. Owned and operated by Waimea Baptist Church, the station broadcasts a mix of Christian and community radio content.It has an effective radiated power of 100 watts on the frequency of 107.3 MHz.

The Charles Gay House, on Gay Road in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii, was built in 1895. It has also been known as the Roland Gay Residence. It was listed on the Hawaiʻi Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1984; the NRHP listing included three contributing buildings.

The Bishop National Bank of Hawaii was a bank in Hawaii. Its branch building on Hawaii Route 50 in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii, was built in 1929. That branch building has also been known as First Hawaiian Bank, as Bishop National Bank, Waimea Branch, and as Bishop First National Bank, Waimea Branch. The building includes Classical Revival architecture and was a work of architect John Mason and of J.L. Young Engineering Co. The building was listed on the Hawaiʻi Register of Historic Places in 1977 and on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1978.The building replaced a 1911 building that had been the second Bishop National Bank branch, after the first built in Hilo. According to its NRHP nomination, the building "is important mainly for its architectural value. Its eclectic style and solid, imposing appearance is typical of post-World War I banking architecture. It is designed to give an aura of permanence and stability--a visual assurance to Waimea's inhabitants that the bank was 'here to stay.'": 3  The building is now a First Hawaiian Bank branch.
