Plettenberg

Else is a 12.9 km river in Märkischer Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is a left tributary of the Lenne. The Else rises about 800m north of Herscheid to an altitude of 414m above sea level. As it flows to the east, the stream reaches the area of the Plettenberg-Hüinghausen airfield and passes the village of Hüinghausen on its southern edge. It then proceeds through Plettenberg, before joining up with the Lenne. There is a height difference of 214m between the source and the mouth, which corresponds to a mean gradient of 16.6%.

The Helgoland Island air disaster occurred on 9 September 1913 after the airship Zeppelin LZ 14 had been transferred to the Imperial German Navy on 7 October 1912. As the first airship owned by the Navy, it was given the serial number L-1. Ordered to participate in manoeuvers, it departed the mainland in bad weather. With 20 people on board, L-1 flew into a gale, and, while 18 miles from its destination, the cold rain caused its gas to contract, causing it to settle 20 mi (32 km; 17 nmi) north of Heligoland into the North Sea, breaking in two. The control car sank, drowning 13 of its occupants. Seven were rescued by motor torpedo boats.

Affeln is a German village in Neuenrade, a municipality in Märkischer Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia. Before 1975 it was considered an autonomous municipality.

Finnentrop station is a railway junction on the Ruhr–Sieg railway between Hagen and Siegen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The station is located on the territory of the municipality of Finnentrop in the district of Olpe. The Bigge Valley Railway to Olpe branches off here and it was also the start of the Finnentrop–Wennemen railway, which was closed in 1996. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station.

Attendorn station (German: Bahnhof Attendorn) is a railway station in the municipality of Attendorn, located in the Olpe district in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The Atta Cave (German: Atta-Höhle) or Attendorn Dripstone Cave (Attendorner Tropfsteinhöhle) in Attendorn is one of the largest dripstone caves in Germany. The cave was discovered during the quarrying of limestone at the Bigge Valley Limestone Works (Biggetaler Kalkwerk) on 19 July 1907 and was opened up by the owners to tourists that same year. Today the Atta Cave is the most-visited show cave in Germany, receiving around 350,000 tourists per year, and is an important economic factor for the town. Amongst its attractions are numerous calc-sinter flowstone drapes, colourfully tinctured by iron oxides. There are also many stalactites, stalagmites and stalagnates. Several pieces of calcite crystal formations were moved into the public area of the cave in order to be displayed there.
