The Arsenal Training Centre, often referred to as its geographical location London Colney in Hertfordshire, is the training ground of Arsenal Football Club. It houses ten full-size pitches, an indoor facility and a medical and rehabilitation centre. Constructed after manager Arsène Wenger campaigned for Arsenal to replace its existing University College London groundshare site, it opened in October 1999 at a cost of £10 million. The training centre was financed by the transfer of Nicolas Anelka to Real Madrid. As well as accommodating Arsenal's first team and youth teams, the centre from 2003 to 2012 acted as the training base for the England national football team before home internationals and friendlies. It has attracted criticism from local residents over environmental and catchment issues.

Shenley Hospital was a psychiatric hospital at Shenley in Hertfordshire. It had two sister institutions, Harperbury Hospital and Napsbury Hospital, within a few miles of its location.

Watling Chase Community Forest is an area of 72 square miles located in north London and south Hertfordshire around the towns of Potters Bar, Radlett, Borehamwood and Barnet. It includes Aldenham Country Park, Scratchwood, Moat Mount Open Space and the Watling Chase Timberland Trail, a waymarked walk of 16 kilometres.It was set up in 1991 and is one of twelve community forests in England set up to regenerate the countryside in and around urban areas. They are sponsored by Natural England and the Forestry Commission which work with local authorities and voluntary bodies to manage them.

The Watling Chase Timberland Trail is a 10.5 mile footpath in the Watling Chase Community Forest in Hertfordshire. It starts at Elstree & Borehamwood railway station, where it links with the London Loop, and goes mainly through farmland and parks. It passes through Shenley, London Colney and Colney Heath, finishing in Smallford near St Albans, where it links with the Alban Way.

The Watford Football Club Training Ground is the training ground and academy of the Premier League club Watford F.C. The centre is located on the University College London Union (UCLU) Shenley Sports grounds, in St Albans, Hertfordshire, situated between the Arsenal Training Centre and the de Havilland Aircraft Heritage Centre. The current Watford Training Ground was previously used by Arsenal F.C. until 1999 when they moved to their nearby own facilities.With an approximate area of 83,000 m², the centre is home to 4 full-size natural grass training pitches, 1 full-size artificial turf training pitch, 2 seven-a-side natural grass football pitches as well as a service centre with gymnasium, press rooms and medical facilities.

Watford F.C. Under-21s and Academy is the youth setup of Watford. The Under-21 team is effectively Watford's second-string side, but is limited to three outfield players and one goalkeeper over the age of 23 per game following the introduction of new regulations from the 2012–13 season. The Under-18 side is the most senior team in the Academy. Home fixtures are contested at the UCL Sports Ground, based in Bell Lane, Shenley, Hertfordshire.

Shenley is a village and civil parish in Hertfordshire, England, between Barnet and St Albans. The village is located 14 miles from Central London. As of 2021, the population of the parish was 5,390; however, the parish stretches far beyond the village itself; it is the largest parish in Hertsmere and is very rural, including hamlets and farming settlements such as Dancers Hill, Green Street, Kitts End, Ridge, Saffron Green, Shenleybury, and the largest other settlement, South Mimms.

All Saints Pastoral Centre is a complex of buildings at London Colney on the southern outskirts of St Albans, Hertfordshire, England. It was built as a convent for the Anglican Society of All Saints Sisters of the Poor. The original buildings were designed by Leonard Stokes in 1899 and built in 1901 with a chapel added by Ninian Comper. It was Grade II* listed in 1972. The complex was acquired by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Westminster in 1973 and converted for use as a pastoral centre. It was sold to a property developer in 2011 with the sale finalised in 2014.The property remains undeveloped, and in 2019 it was included in the Twentieth Century Society's (C20) Top 10 Buildings at Risk List 2019.

The Denis Compton Oval is a cricket ground located at the Shenley Cricket Centre in Shenley, Hertfordshire, England. The ground was opened by Denis Compton and the main ground was named in his honour. At the heart of the centre is the 19th-century pavilion, originally designed by the legendary cricketer W. G. Grace.

Kingsley Green is a mental health and learning disability site located in Hertfordshire, England, just southeast of the village of London Colney. Located on Harper Lane, Shenley, the facility was known as Harperbury Hospital for 61 years and has been a fixture of the area's mental health scene since 1928. It had two sister institutions, Shenley Hospital and Napsbury Hospital, within a few miles of its location. A scaling down process began in the 1970s, and resulted in many of the old hospital's buildings becoming abandoned. By late 2001 Harperbury had only about 200 patients and the hospital was officially closed. The new Kingsley Green mental health facility opened on the site in May 2009.

Fir and Pond Woods is a 29 hectare nature reserve in Potters Bar in Hertfordshire. It is managed by the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust. It is two separate woods, with Fir Wood connected by a short footpath to the large Pond Wood to the south.The site is a remnant of the ancient Enfield Chase, and it has woodland, meadows and wetlands, and diverse bird life. Turkey Brook passes a meadow at the southern end of Pond Wood.There is access from Coopers Lane Road opposite Hook Lane.

Broad Colney Lakes is an 11 hectare nature reserve previously managed by Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust in London Colney in Hertfordshire. It has recently been sold to an anonymous buyer but reports in The Herts Advertiser says "the selected buyer has stated that the site will continue to be used for fishing, with the woodland managed for the benefit of wildlife.” It has three lakes, created as a result of gravel extraction in the 1920s. Otters travel through Long Lake on their journeys along the River Colne, which flows through the lake, and great crested grebes nest at the edge. Small Lake is marshy and a breeding area for fish, while North Lake has tufted ducks, coots and mallards.There is access from Water Lane, between Shenley Lane and Waterside, which runs along the south-eastern edge of Long Lake.
