Jakkur Aerodrome

Jakkur (also spelled Jakkuru) is a suburb in the northern part of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Located on the eastern side of the National Highway 44 between Yelahanka and Hebbal, the area is best known for the Jakkur Aerodrome and Jakkur lake.

Jakkur Cross is an upcoming elevated metro station on the North-South corridor of the Blue Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. This metro station will comprise of the main Phoenix Mall of Asia, Jakkur suburban area, Jakkur Aerodrome followed by many neighbouring areas like Kodigehalli, Jakkur Lake and Gandhi Krishi Vigyana Kendra, a Deemed-to-be-University in North Bengaluru, India. This metro station is slated to be operational around June 2026.

Jakkur, a suburb in Bengaluru, is a locality with a long history, spanning approximately 700 years. The name "Jakkur" is found in an inscription dated to 1342 CE, providing clear evidence of the locality's antiquity. This area is home to four inscriptions and several hero stones (Veeragallu). The earliest inscriptions found in the area can be dated paleographically to the 9th - 10th century CE. These inscriptions also suggest that Jakkur Lake, considered one of the largest lakes in Bangalore, existed at least seven centuries ago. Two hero stones have also been discovered in Jakkur: one is a Atmabalidana (self-sacrifice) memorial stone from the 10th century, and the other is a Maha-Sati stone from the 16th-17th centuries. Recent efforts have focused on the conservation of these historical markers.

Allalasandra is a historic locality in North Bengaluru, situated adjacent to the Gandhi Krishi Vigyan Kendra (GKVK) campus on Bellary Road. The name Allalasandra is mentioned in an inscription dated to 1544 CE, tracing its historicity back about 500 years. The inscription records the donation of the entire village of Allalasandra to the Allalanatha temple at Jakkur. The earliest map of Allalasandra is a 1905CE state land records map which shows the village and adjoining areas being of 2.47sq km, 7.78 km perimeter. The village is shown bounded by Yelahanka kasaba, Shivanahalli, Jakkur Plantation, Bytrayanapura, Kothi Hosahalli, Kodigehalli, Kodigehalli Plantation and Chikka Bommasandra villages. Today the same area has been apportioned between Allalasandra village, GKVK campus, upmarket Judicial Layout and some portions of Bellary road. Four inscriptions were documented in this locality spanning from the 11th century to the 18th-19th century CE, of which only two are physically present, the status of the rest two remains unknown.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) is a multidisciplinary research institute located at Jakkur, Bangalore, India. It was established by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India, to mark the birth centenary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of independent India. It is considered one of the most prestigious research institutes in India. In 2019, JNCASR was ranked #7 among the world's top ten research institutes by Nature journal in a normalised ranking of small research institutes with high quality output.

Achatnahalli is a village in the Kolar taluk of the southern state of Karnataka, India and within the Division of Bangalore. As of the 2011 Indian Census, the village included a total population of 520 people consisting of 266 females and 254 males. The census also noted the village held a total of 129 households.

This metro station will mainly serve the Brigade Corporate Offices, consisting of Magnum, Opus, Triumph and Caladium. It also serves prime locations including Aster CMI Hospital, Amruthahalli Lake Park, Godrej Woodsman Estate, RMZ Latitude and many restaurants for the general public. This metro station is slated to be operational around June 2026.

Sahakara Nagar is a residential suburb near Bangalore, India. Sahakanagar is formed by the Ministry of Communication Employees housing society and has developed to this extent under the efforts of the Sahakaranagar Residents welfare association. National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) in Bangalore, Karnataka, is a research centre specialising in biological research. It is a part of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) under the Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India. Obaid Siddiqi FRS (7 January 1932 – 26 July 2013) was an Indian National Research Professor and the Founder-Director of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) National Center for Biological Sciences. He made seminal contributions to the field of behavioural neurogenetics using the genetics and neurobiology of Drosophila.
