Chichester College

Chichester Theological College (1838–1994) was an Anglican theological college for the Diocese of Chichester in Sussex, England. Its churchmanship was high church and Anglo-Catholic.

The West Sussex Record Office at Orchard Street, Chichester, is the county record office for the county of West Sussex. It is run by West Sussex County Council.

Edes House is mansion in Chichester, West Sussex. The building, which was the headquarters of West Sussex County Council from 1916 to 1936, is a Grade I listed building.

The Prebendal School is a private preparatory school in Chichester, situated adjacent to the Chichester Cathedral precinct. It is a boarding and day school educating the cathedral choristers. The school has ancient origins as the medieval cathedral song school at the thirteenth-century school house in West Street.In 2020, The Telegraph named The Prebendal School as one of the best-value independent schools in the country. In January 2023, the school announced that its recent ISI inspection in November had found the school to be Excellent in all areas.

County Hall is a municipal facility at West Street in Chichester, West Sussex. It is the headquarters of West Sussex County Council.

The Palace, Chichester is the episcopal palace of the Church of England’s Diocese of Chichester, located in Chichester itself, at the west end of the Cathedral close, known as Canon Lane. It is both a residency and offices.

Chichester railway station is a railway station in the city of Chichester in West Sussex, England. It is 28 miles 51 chains (28.64 miles, 46.09 km) from Brighton.The station is located on the Brighton to Portsmouth line of the LBSCR. Passenger services are operated under the brand name West Coastway Line which runs between Brighton and Southampton. The station and all passenger services are operated by Southern. The station opened in 1846 and by the 1920's was listed in the top ten most prestigious Southern Railway stations due to royal use for Goodwood Racecourse race days. By the 1950's the station had become dilapidated and was demolished and replaced with the modern station, which re-opened in 1961. There used to be a branch line north to Midhurst and an additional two platforms which were up and down bay platforms at the west end of the station on the north side. An additional bay platform on the south side remains in situ but is disused.

The Bosham Head is part of the largest Roman statue found in Britain, a large, 375-pound (170 kg) sculpted piece of stone that was discovered in Bosham, near Chichester, around 1800. It later resided for some time in the garden of the Bishop of Chichester's palace before being exhibited in the Chichester Museum where it now stands. In 2013, 3D laser scans led Dr Miles Russell and Harry Manley of Bournemouth University to conclude that enough survived to suggest that the head was that of a lost sculpture of Emperor Trajan, perhaps erected by Hadrian at the mouth of Chichester Harbour.

The Novium is a museum in Chichester, West Sussex, southern England. The name comes from the Roman name for the city, Noviomagus Reginorum.The museum, designed by the architect Keith Williams following an architectural design competition managed by RIBA Competitions, has an area of 1,300 sq m which is approximately 2.4 times the size of the previous museum in Little London. The building is divided into three floors each of which will contain a gallery for exhibition. It contains a research and learning room as well as a collection store for the social history collection. The museum is built directly over the top of the Chichester's Roman Bath House complex which are displayed in the ground floor gallery.The museum has over 350,000 objects of geological, archaeological and social historic interest. The social history and geological collections is made up of some 50,000 objects which are housed within the new building, whilst the archaeological collection is contained in a purpose built store within the Discovery Centre located at Fishbourne Roman Palace.The museum was opened on 8 July 2012.

Chichester Cathedral, formally known as the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity, is the seat of the Anglican Bishop of Chichester. It is located in Chichester, in West Sussex, England. It was founded as a cathedral in 1075, when the seat of the bishop was moved from Selsey.Chichester Cathedral has fine architecture in both the Norman and the Gothic styles, and has been described by the architectural critic Ian Nairn as "the most typical English Cathedral". Despite this, Chichester has two architectural features that are unique among England's medieval cathedrals—a free-standing medieval bell tower (or campanile) and double aisles. The cathedral contains two rare medieval sculptures, and many modern art works including tapestries, stained glass and sculpture, many of these commissioned by Walter Hussey (Dean, 1955–1977).The city of Chichester, though it retains two main cross streets laid out by the Romans, has always been small enough for the city's entire population to fit inside the cathedral at once, causing Daniel Defoe to comment: I cannot say much of Chichester, in which, if six or seven good families were removed, there would not be much conversation, except what is to be found among the canons, and the dignitaries of the cathedral. The spire of Chichester Cathedral, rising above its green copper roof, is the third tallest in England and acts as a landmark for travellers. It is the only spire from a medieval English cathedral that is visible from the sea.

The Diocese of Chichester is a Church of England diocese based in Chichester, covering Sussex. It was founded in 681 as the ancient Diocese of Selsey, which was based at Selsey Abbey, until the see was translated to Chichester in 1075. The cathedral is Chichester Cathedral and the diocesan bishop is the Bishop of Chichester. The diocese is in the Province of Canterbury.

Chichester is a local government district in West Sussex, England. Its council is based in the city of Chichester and the district also covers a large rural area to the north.
