Corky's was a restaurant in Los Angeles, California's Sherman Oaks neighborhood. It was designed by Armet & Davis and built in 1958. It has a sweeping roofline characteristic of Googie architecture. It was remodeled in the 1970s and has been restored in recent years. It originally opened as Stanley Burke's Coffee Shop on Van Nuys Boulevard and became Corky's in the early 1960s as it transitioned to being open 24-7. Billy Joel played piano at the eatery in the 1970s. After 25 years as Corky's, it became the Lamplighter, and was used in 2010 as a filming location for A Nightmare on Elm Street. The restaurant is now restored and renovated as a renewed Corky's.Corky’s closed for good December 14, 2019.

Humphrey Yogurt is a frozen yogurt shop in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles. The store was established by Maria and Raphael Baker in 1984. Current owner Paula Sheftel purchased the store in 1986 for $110,000. At its peak, the chain supported six stores in the greater Los Angeles area however, as of 2024, only the Sherman Oaks location remains open. In 2017, a CBS News affiliate identified it as one of the best frozen yogurt stores in Los Angeles. The store's name is a play on the name of the famous actor Humphrey Bogart. In 2021, the store attracted significant media attention after Meghan Markle discussed the store in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. During the interview, Markle disclosed that she had worked at the store during her early teenage years and that doing so had shown her the "value of working." Following the interview, the store experienced a massive surge in popularity. Seeking to capitalize on this newfound popularity, the store subsequently launched a new, limited-time yogurt flavor called "Banana Royale" in honor of Markle. The media attention was so significant that the store briefly hired a publicist (and former employee) to interface with the media.

It was hosted by creator Art Bell from its inception in 1988 until 2000, and is currently hosted by George Noory. The program is distributed by Premiere Networks, both as part of its talk network and separately as a syndicated program. The program now airs seven nights a week from 1:00 a.m. – 5:00 a.m. Eastern Time Zone. It appears on over 600 affiliates, and has repeatedly been called the most popular overnight show in the country.

Sherman Oaks Galleria is an open-air shopping mall and business center located in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, United States, at the corner of Ventura and Sepulveda Boulevards in the San Fernando Valley. The teenage mall culture which formed around it and nearby malls formed the basis of the 1982 satirical song "Valley Girl" by Frank Zappa and daughter Moon Zappa, which mentions the Galleria by name (though it misattributes its location as Encino, which it abuts). The mall has also been a shooting location for many films, most notably the seminal 1982 film Fast Times at Ridgemont High as well as the 1983 film Valley Girl, both of which focused on the early 1980s San Fernando Valley youth culture.

The Tower of Wooden Pallets was a structure of discarded wooden pallets built by Daniel Van Meter and designated as a Historic Cultural Monument. It was known as the City of Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument number 184 and located at 15357 Magnolia Boulevard in Sherman Oaks, California.

The Proto-Cathedral of St. Mary or Proto-Cathedral of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church is a parish church and proto-cathedral of the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Phoenix, serving the Ruthenian Eastern Catholic population of Los Angeles, California, United States. It was the first Byzantine church in California. It is located on Sepulveda Boulevard in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, California. It is the only Byzantine Ruthenian Church in the territory of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. In 1956, the bishop of the Byzantine Catholic Archeparchy of Pittsburgh granted permission for a priest to minister in Los Angeles. In 1957, the parish purchased land on Sepulveda Boulevard, and the new church was dedicated in 1961. In 1976, the third pastor, Father Eugene Linowski, re-ordered the liturgical services to conform with the authentic traditions of the Byzantine Church (according to the Recension as prescribed by Rome). An icon screen was installed two years later. The screen maintains a traditional aura of mystery that separates the sanctuary from the rest of the church. At St. Mary's the screen is a wrought iron grill with icons painted by local artist Mila Mina. Fr. Eugene Linowski became the first Rector of the Cathedral, from March to June 1982. The Eparchy of Van Nuys was established in 1982 with Most Reverend Thomas Dolinay as the first bishop. Father Michael Moran was named the second rector of the cathedral, served as chancellor, and was later named monsignor. Msgr. Moran was the head of the parish for 22 years. In 2004 Father Melvin Rybarczyk was named rector. Father Michael O’Loughlin was made rector September 1st, 2019. In 2010, with the relocation of the eparchial see to Phoenix, Arizona, the Cathedral of St. Mary was assigned the title of Proto-Cathedral.

Westfield Fashion Square is a shopping mall in the Sherman Oaks and Van Nuys areas of Los Angeles, California. It is owned by Westfield Group. Its anchor stores are Bloomingdale's and Macy's. The mall opened on April 22, 1962, as Bullock's Fashion Square, anchored by Bullock's and I. Magnin department stores. It was officially dedicated on August 13, 1962. Later known as Fashion Square Sherman Oaks, the mall added a Joseph Magnin store in 1966 and The Broadway department store in 1977. From 1988 to 1990, the outdoor mall was enclosed and double-decked with a Mediterranean theme. In 1994, the mall suffered serious damage from the Northridge earthquake. In 1996, Bullock's was converted into Macy's and The Broadway became Bloomingdale's—the result of Federated Department Stores buying out Carter Hawley Hale Stores, the Broadway's parent company. The Westfield Group acquired a half-interest in the shopping center in 2002 and renamed it "Westfield Shoppingtown Fashion Square" in 2003, dropping the "Shoppingtown" name in June 2005.Westfield Fashion Square underwent another major renovation in 2013, creating a more cosmopolitan look and an upgraded food court.Westfield Fashion Square has been featured in many television and film productions, including Malcolm in the Middle, The Office, Clueless, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church and School is a Catholic church and elementary school located in Encino, Los Angeles. Founded in 1949, St. Cyril's was voted the "Best Parish" for music in the Los Angeles Archdiocese in 2000.

The Sepulveda Dam is a project of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers designed to withhold winter flood waters along the Los Angeles River. Completed in 1941, at a cost of $6,650,561 (equivalent to $122,524,000 in 2021), it is located south of center in the San Fernando Valley, approximately eight miles east of the river's source in the western end of the Valley, in Los Angeles, California.Sepulveda Dam, along with Hansen Dam located in the north San Fernando Valley, was constructed in response to the historic 1938 floods which killed 144 people. Sepulveda Dam was placed at what was at the time, the current edge of the city. East of the dam the river was crowded into a narrow bottom by the city's growth. One legacy of Sepulveda Dam is its flood control basin, a large and undeveloped area in the center of the Valley, used mostly for wildlife refuge and recreation. But another legacy of the 1938 Los Angeles River flood was the post-World War II channelization of all the Valley's dry washes, which along with the post-World War II rapid suburbanization left the Valley with hot, dry, concrete-lined river bottoms instead of greenbelts. Although now, in part, these are being devolved as interconnecting bike paths.Behind the dam, the Sepulveda Basin is home to several large recreation areas including Woodley Park, a model aircraft field, The Japanese Garden, a wildlife refuge, a water reclamation plant, and an armory. The Basin is kept free of urban over-building so that water can build up there during a prospective hundred-year flood. It is an often-used location for films (such as Escape from New York), music videos (such as BTS' Kinetic Manifesto), and car commercials.
